ORAL AND DENTAL FINDINGS OF A CHILD WITH WEILL-MARCHESANI SYNDROME TYPE II: A CASE REPORT WITH 3-YEAR FOLLOW-UP

Weill-Marchesani syndrome (WMS, OMIM# 227600) is a genetically determined, rare systemic connective tissue disorder. The syndrome is divided into four types according to mutations in related genes. Given the limited number of individuals with WMS in the literature, no genotype-phenotype correlations for ADAMTS10, ADAMTS17, FBN1, or LTBP2 have been identified. In the accessible literature, none of the limited studies were focused on the oral and dental anomalies of WMS. The present case report describes oral and dental findings of a 63 months old female patients with WMS2

Objectives:The aim of the study was to evaluate the quality of information provided by YouTube™ for parents searching information about teething symptoms. Material-Methods:To simulate access to information from the parents’ perspective, the terms "teething symptoms and teething signs" were searched on YouTube™. To obtain a total of 60 acceptable videos, a total of 100 videos were screened. Irrelevant videos, advertisements, non-English videos, duplicates, videos lasted greater than 15 min were excluded. General video assessment included ownership, video age, number of comments, purpose and references. Local and systemic symptoms of teething, duration of teething, and treatment options were also examined in the videos. Global Quality Scale(GQS), DISCERN, viewers’ interaction, and viewing rate were calculated. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS Version 26. Results:Sixty three videos were included. The videos had a mean video interaction index of 1.36±3.39. The mean viewing rate was 6915±18125 with a range of 0.7 to 115498. The mean score for GQS was 2.98±1.1, for DISCERN was 1.03±0.89. The mean DISCERN score of layperson was lesser than healthcare professionals (p<0.05). Local symptoms were mentioned in 85.7% of the videos and systemic symptoms in 58.7% of them. Treatments were mentioned in 61.9% of the videos. Conclusions: The quality of information about teething symptoms on YouTube™ was variable, but the quality of videos from laypersons was particularly poor. Reliable YouTube™ videos published by childhealth professionals will be a good resource, especially for parents who cannot reach health institutions due to various reasons such as pandemic

Oppositional defiant disorder/conduct disorder co-occurrence increases the risk of Internet addiction in adolescents with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder

Objectives The aims of this cross-sectional study were to assess the prevalence of Internet addiction (IA) in a clinical sample of adolescents with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and to detect the moderating effects of co-occurring oppositional defiant disorder/conduct disorder (ODD/CD) on the association between ADHD and IA. Methods The study group comprised 119 adolescent subjects who were consecutively referred to our outpatient clinic with a diagnosis of ADHD. The Turgay DSM-IV-Based Child and Adolescent Disruptive Behavioral Disorders Screening and Rating Scale (T-DSM-IV-S) was completed by parents, and subjects were asked to complete the Internet Addiction Scale (IAS). Results The IAS results indicated that 63.9% of the participants (n = 76) fell into the IA group. Degree of IA was correlated with hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms but not with inattention symptoms. As compared to the ADHD-only group (without comorbid ODD/CD), ADHD + ODD/CD subjects returned significantly higher scores on the IAS. Conclusions As adolescents with ADHD are at high risk of developing IA, early IA detection and intervention is of great importance for this group. In addition, adolescents with ADHD + ODD/CD may be more vulnerable to IA than those in the ADHD-only group and may need to be more carefully assessed for IA

How important is the endotracheal tube cuff pressure? - A tracheoscopic evaluation in dogs

SUMMARY Tracheoscopic evaluation of the tracheal mucosa change resulting from different inflating pressure values of the endotracheal tube cuff were performed in this study. Eighteen dogs of different breeds, sexes, ages, and sizes were randomly selected and included in the study. After induction, the dogs were intubated and general anesthesia was maintained with inhalation for surgery. The dogs were randomly grouped according to the following cuff pressures: 25 mmHg in group I (GRI) (n = 6), 50 mmHg in group II (GRII) (n = 6) and random cuff pressures in group III (GRIII) (n = 6). At the end of the surgery, before extubation, tracheoscopies were performed in the dogs. Tracheoscopic examinations revealed mucous fluid accumulation, mucoid plaque, mucosal ruffles, mucosal ischemia, tracheal enlargement, vascular congestion, mucosal hemorrhage and mucosal lacerations. Tracheal lesions were more severe in GRII than in GRI. The underlying tracheal pathologic changes were mucosal nodule, mucosal hyperemia, tracheomalacia and tracheal collapse (grade 1). In conclusion, the endotracheal tube cuff pressure can lead to tracheal lesions; therefore, tracheoscopic examination, if possible, can be used in clinical practice to detect underlying tracheal pathologies before intubation, which can be helpful for preventing tracheal lesions
