    Integrating Olfaction in a Robotic Telepresence Loop

    In this work we propose enhancing a typical robotic telepresence architecture by considering olfactory and wind flow information in addition to the common audio and video channels. The objective is to expand the range of applications where robotics telepresence can be applied, including those related to the detection of volatile chemical substances (e.g. land-mine detection, explosive deactivation, operations in noxious environments, etc.). Concretely, we analyze how the sense of smell can be integrated in the telepresence loop, covering the digitization of the gases and wind flow present in the remote environment, the transmission through the communication network, and their display at the user location. Experiments under different environmental conditions are presented to validate the proposed telepresence system when localizing a gas emission leak at the remote environment.Universidad de Málaga.     Republishing OpenStreetMap’s roads as linked routable tiles

    Route planning providers manually integrate different geo-spatial datasets before offering a Web service to developers, thus creating a closed world view. In contrast, combining open datasets at runtime can provide more information for user-specific route planning needs. For example, an extra dataset of bike sharing availabilities may provide more relevant information to the occasional cyclist. A strategy for automating the adoption of open geo-spatial datasets is needed to allow an ecosystem of route planners able to answer more specific and complex queries. This raises new challenges such as (i) how open geo-spatial datasets should be published on the Web to raise interoperability, and (ii) how route planners can discover and integrate relevant data for a certain query on the fly. We republished OpenStreetMap's road network as "Routable Tiles" to facilitate its integration into open route planners. To achieve this, we use a Linked Data strategy and follow an approach similar to vector tiles. In a demo, we show how client-side code can automatically discover tiles and perform a shortest path algorithm. We provide four contributions: (i) we launched an open geo-spatial dataset that is available for everyone to reuse at no cost, (ii) we published a Linked Data version of the OpenStreetMap ontology, (iii) we introduced a hypermedia specification for vector tiles that extends the Hydra ontology, and (iv) we released the mapping scripts, demo and routing scripts as open source software

    Epitranscriptomic Reprogramming Is Required to Prevent Stress and Damage from Acetaminophen

    Epitranscriptomic marks, in the form of enzyme catalyzed RNA modifications, play important gene regulatory roles in response to environmental and physiological conditions. However, little is known with respect to how acute toxic doses of pharmaceuticals influence the epitranscriptome. Here we define how acetaminophen (APAP) induces epitranscriptomic reprogramming and how the writer Alkylation Repair Homolog 8 (Alkbh8) plays a key gene regulatory role in the response. Alkbh8 modifies tRNA selenocysteine (tRNASec) to translationally regulate the production of glutathione peroxidases (Gpx’s) and other selenoproteins, with Gpx enzymes known to play protective roles during APAP toxicity. We demonstrate that APAP increases toxicity and markers of damage, and decreases selenoprotein levels in Alkbh8 deficient mouse livers, when compared to wildtype. APAP also promotes large scale reprogramming of many RNA marks comprising the liver tRNA epitranscriptome including: 5-methoxycarbonylmethyluridine (mcm5U), isopentenyladenosine (i6A), pseudouridine (Ψ), and 1-methyladenosine (m1A) modifications linked to tRNASec and many other tRNA’s. Alkbh8 deficiency also leads to wide-spread epitranscriptomic dysregulation in response to APAP, demonstrating that a single writer defect can promote downstream changes to a large spectrum of RNA modifications. Our study highlights the importance of RNA modifications and translational responses to APAP, identifies writers as key modulators of stress responses in vivo and supports the idea that the epitranscriptome may play important roles in responses to pharmaceuticals

    eXiTCDSS: A framework for a workflow-based CBR for interventional Clinical Decision Support Systems and its application to TAVI

Also, this research project has been partially funded through the project labeled DPI2011-24929.International audienceClinical Decision Support System (CDSSs) should form an important part of the field of clinical knowledge management technologies through their capacity to support the clinical process and use of knowledge, including knowledge maintenance and continuous learning, from diagnosis and investigation through surgery, treatment and long-term care. The work presented shows a workflow-based CDSS designed to give case-specific assessment to clinicians during complex surgery or Minimally Invasive Surgery (MISs). Following a perioperative workflow, the designed software will use a Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) methodology to retrieve similar past cases from a case base to provide support at any particular point of the process. The graphical user interface allows easy navigation through the whole support progress, from the initial configuration steps to the final results organized as sets of experiments easily visualized in a user-friendly way. The eXiTCDSS tool is presented giving support to a recent complex minimally invasive surgery which is receiving growing attention lately, the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). The results obtained are presented on a basis of a real TAVI case base of 82 patients operated at Rennes University Hospital

    Providing reliable access to real-time and historic public transport data using linked connections​

    Using Linked Data based approaches, public transport companies are able to share their time tables and its updates in an affordable way while allowing user agents to perform multimodal route planning algorithms. Providing time table updates, usually published as data streams, means that data is being constantly modified and in the presence of large analytical queries, results might be affected due to the changing data. In this demo we introduce a mechanism to tackle this problem by guaranteeing that a user agent will always receive version based responses, therefore ensuring data consistency. Such mechanism also enables access to historical data that could be used for deep analysis of transport systems. However, how this data shall be archived, in order to keep this approach scalable and inexpensive is still a matter of study. In a demonstrator, we published and query data from the Belgium national train system (SNCB) and Madrid Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM). This paper represents the first step towards establishing an affordable framework to publish reliable transport data

    Análisis de la usabilidad de los códigos QR usados en el sistema de pedidos de la empresa Nes Trujillo S. R. L. en Trujillo, 2022

    El presente trabajo de investigación se propuso analizar la usabilidad de los códigos QR empleados en el sistema de pedidos de la empresa NES TRUJILLO S.R.L en la ciudad de Trujillo, 2022. Se aplicó un enfoque cuantitativo, de alcance descriptivo y tipo no experimental. La población estuvo conformada por clientes que usaron el código QR para hacer pedidos dentro del establecimiento. Se analizó una muestra de 281 clientes regulares de la empresa. Se empleó como técnica la encuesta y como instrumento un cuestionario basado en la Escala de Usabilidad del Sistema (SUS por sus siglas en inglés) mediante una escala de Likert conformada por 10 enunciados. Los resultados evidencian que el promedio de los ítems tuvo una aceptación no menor al 70%; además no menos del 80% de los clientes mencionaron que el código QR es fácil de usar e imaginan que la mayoría de aprendería a usar los códigos QR en el sistema de pedidos de forma muy rápida en la cafetería NPG. Se concluye que, el nivel de usabilidad percibido por los clientes que usan los códigos QR es bueno con un puntaje SUS de 68.67 (DE=27.47). Las dimensiones que tuvieron mayor aceptación correspondieron a: aprendizaje (94.52%), recordación (87.69%) y credibilidad (86.98%), donde se comprende que estos son claves para la percepción de una buena experiencia con el uso de los códigos QR y permitir que los clientes perciban el valor y utilidad en esta herramienta
