    Role of parenting style and parents’ education in positive youth development of adolescents

    The main purpose of this research is to determine the role of parenting style and educational level of parents in Positive Youth Development (PYD). Data were obtained using a questionnaire method involving 496 adolescent students of national secondary schools in Selangor. The findings indicate that there is a significant difference between the means for different races in PYD. This study also revealed that authoritative parenting styles, uninvolved parenting styles, and fathers’ level of education are significantly correlated to PYD. The authoritative parenting style was found to be the most significant predictor of higher PYD. These findings suggest that adolescents with authoritative parents in Malaysia show higher PYD and accordingly, they contribute to self, others and community

    Determination of maximum allowable concentration and LC50 96h of Sefidroud River sediments for Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) fingerlings

    The impact of Sefidroud River sediments on the fingerlings of Persian Sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) was studied in 2005. The tests were done in 20 liter aquariums each containing 10 Persian Sturgeons fingerlings weighing 3-5 grams each. We devised 6 treatments and a control with 3 repetitions in the four day investigation through which the lethal concentration (LC50 96h) of Sefidroud sediments were studied. During the test, physicochemical parameters of water such as pH, oxygen and temperature were measured as 8, 8.5mg/1 and 25±1°C respectively. The results showed that LC5096h and LC50 24h of sediments on Persian sturgeon were 15367.39mg/1 and 124882.04mg/1 respectively. We determined the maximum allow-able concentration (M.A.C) of sediments to be I 536.74mg/l

    The feasibility of Gamasiab river area fish farming of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

    This study was carried out about 15 months to determine suitable locations for the development of aquaculture across the Gamasiab river of Hamedan province in 2007 - 2008. Physicochemical parameters and macro benthic invertebrates fauna 15 and 13 stations respectively every 45 days and seasonally fish identify in 8 stations were performed according standard methods. The average water temperature was 12.8±3.7 oC, minimum and maximum dissoled oxygen were 2.6 and 12.5 mg/lit respectively during the study. The pH range was between 7.5-8.8 , the minimum and maximum Ec was 250 and 750 µmos/cm in Mehr and Tir. The transparency range was recorded about 1-103 F.T.U. The uder factors such as amount of suspended materials: 0.01-0.1 mg/l, amount of BOD5: 0.05-6.2 mg/l and COD: 30 (minimum) and 70.57 (maximum) were recorded. The total solids material (T.S.S) were less than 1 mg/lit. Totally 37 groups of bentic organisms were identified which 11 groups of them were appertained to pollution sensitive orders containing Ephemeroptera, Trichoptera and Plecoptera. During fish population studied 21 species belonging 5 family were identified. Based on obtained results of biological, ecological, economic and social parameters, 10 sites in 7 areas were suitable identified for fish rearing and 12 aquaculture programs (10 plan for fish rearing and 2 plan for increasing fish production of (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The minimum and maximum production capacity in mentioned places was estimated about 1675 and 3850 tons respectively

    Caspian trout is valuable, Commercial, anadromous and endemic fish species in the Caspian Sea so that, researchers attention have been focused on this species. At the moment, only pay attention to stocks rehabilitation that fisheries organization releases more than 300,000 fingerlings to the rivers ends to the Caspian Sea. Importance of this study consist (1) introducing a new species to the aquaculture system and (2) provide breeders in this research. we used from 2 treatments that consist with density of 10 kg/m^3 and 20 kg/m3 with 3 replication. Results showed, culture of Caspian trout is suitable with density 10 kg/m^3, so that weight gain, SGR and Daily growth mean are better than treatment 2(15-20 kg/m^3

    Teachers' use of Facebook motivating Vietnamese students to improve their English language learning

    At the Ho Chi Minh University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT) in Vietnam, students must enrol in eight intensive compulsory English courses (2 credits, equal to 30 hours per course) as required by their program. The National Language Project (2012-2020) uses the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as a framework of reference; and also requires all English second language teachers in Vietnam to reach an English level proficiency of B2 as indicated by the CEFR for primary and lower secondary school teachers; and CEFR C1 for upper secondary, high school teachers. As part of the National Language Project, blended learning was introduced to modernising language teaching, but unfortunately, the learning outcomes were not as positive as expected. The researchers introduced a social networking site, Facebook for language learning in an effort to improve learning motivation through mobile learning. This study is underpinned by Malcolm Knowles’ (1984) principles of andragogy as the science of adult learning. During the course, the researcher observed and examined participants’ learning participation and attitude using data collected by both qualitative and quantitative methods. This case study demonstrated that learning connections made through mobile learning, and virtual learning environments could have a positive effect on learning outcomes, and also increase students’ motivation as well as a sense of community

    A Large Retrospective Study of Epidemiological Characteristics of COVID-19 Patients in the North of Iran: Association between SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Ct Values with Demographic Data

    Objectives: To avoid worsening from mild, moderate, and severe diseases and to reduce mortality, it is necessary to identify the subpopulation that is more vulnerable to the development of COVID-19 unfavorable consequences. This study aims to investigate the demographic information, prevalence rates of common comorbidities among negative and positive real-time reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) patients, and the association between SARS-CoV-2 cycle threshold (Ct) at hospital admission, demographic data, and outcomes of the patients in a large population in Northern Iran. Methods: This large retrospective cross-sectional study was performed from 7 March to 20 December 2020. Demographic data, including gender, age, underlying diseases, clinical outcomes, and Ct values, were obtained from 8,318 cases suspected of COVID-19, who were admitted to four teaching hospitals affiliated to Babol University of Medical Sciences (MUBABOL), in the north of Iran. Results: Since 7 March 2020, the data were collected from 8,318 cases suspected of COVID-19 (48.5 female and 51.5 male) with a mean age of 53�±�25.3 years. Among 8,318 suspected COVID-19 patients, 3,250 (39.1) had a positive rRT-PCR result; 1,632 (50.2) patients were male and 335 (10.3) patients died during their hospital stay. The distribution of positive rRT-PCR revealed that most patients (464 (75.7)) had a Ct between 21 and 30 (Group B). Conclusion: Elderly patients, lower Ct, patients having at least one comorbidity, and male cases were significantly associated with increased risk for COVID-19-related mortality. Moreover, mortality was significantly higher in patients with diabetes, kidney disease, and respiratory disease. Copyright © 2022 Farzin Sadeghi et al
