Pragmatic frames, the thetic-categorical distinction and Spanish constituent order

Spanish constituent ordering has been often characterised as the result of the interplay of discourse-pragmatic, semantic and syntactic factors. The purpose of this paper is to investigate constituent ordering in Spanish taking into account a series of pragmatic and semantic considerations as generally discussed in Functional (Discourse) Grammar. More particularly, constituent ordering in Spanish will be analysed from the perspective of the proposal made by Hannay (1991) on the modes of message management in the framework of Functional Grammar and the related distinction of thetic-categorical judgements, plus other areas in Functional Discourse Grammar such as the assignation of pragmatic functions and the establishment of special positions. The research for this study is based on the analysis of two sets of material of Peninsular Spanish, describing the language of adult educated native speakers

Assessment of two-stage anaerobic digestion of blackwater and kitchen waste for reducing environmental impact of residential buildings

In recent years, much attention has been directed towards municipal waste management since these residues has become a global challenge with increasing public health, environmental, social, and economic costs. Therefore, there is an urgent need to adopt widely accepted sustainable alternatives and circular economy approaches. In that sense, the decentralized waste management approach has become a feasible and sustainable strategy to valorise and minimize wastes at source. Among the available technologies, anaerobic digestion is widely used as it allows to recover energy in form of biogas from organic waste. This study proposes a decentralized system based on a two-stage anaerobic digestion for the joint valorisation of organic wastes -blackwater and kitchen wastes-in residential buildings. In the first stage (dark fermentation), different ratios of blackwater:kitchen waste were assessed and a maximum volatile fatty acids production of 5000–7000 mg L-1 was reached when 5 kg of black water and 0.30 kg of kitchen waste were added to the system. Then, during second stage, the volatile fatty acids rich stream was valorised in an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor resulting in a biogas production of 5.45 ± 1.34 L d-1, containing 75.6 ± 7.3% of methane and 22.8 ± 5.7% of carbon dioxide while reporting a low content of impurities - 0.02% of hydrogen sulphide and 0.002% of hydrogen -.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Algunas claves sobre el valor jurídico del silencio

A partir de la Pandectística y su construcción del Negocio Jurídico, una de las cuestiones que mayor interés ha planteado en la doctrina privatística es la referente a si el Silencio puede constituir o no la base de una auténtica declaración de voluntad, o, en su caso, cuál es el fundamento que se encuentra tras aquellos preceptos que imputan determinados efectos jurídicos a la conducta pasiva de un sujeto, siendo el ámbito de los contratos aquél donde el tema se plantea con mayor frecuencia. A mixed distribution to fix the threshold for Peak-Over-Threshold wave height estimation

Modelling extreme values distributions, such as wave height time series where the higher waves are much less frequent than the lower ones, has been tackled from the point of view of the Peak-OverThreshold (POT) methodologies, where modelling is based on those values higher than a threshold. This threshold is usually predefned by the user, while the rest of values are ignored. In this paper, we propose a new method to estimate the distribution of the complete time series, including both extreme and regular values. This methodology assumes that extreme values time series can be modelled by a normal distribution in a combination of a uniform one. The resulting theoretical distribution is then used to fx the threshold for the POT methodology. The methodology is tested in nine real-world time series collected in the Gulf of Alaska, Puerto Rico and Gibraltar (Spain), which are provided by the National Data Buoy Center (USA) and Puertos del Estado (Spain). By using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistical test, the results confrm that the time series can be modelled with this type of mixed distribution. Based on this, the return values and the confdence intervals for wave height in diferent periods of time are also calculated

Comparación estadística de métodos interpolación deterministicos y estocásticos para la generación de modelos digitales del terreno a partir de datos LIDAR, en la parroquia de Tumbabiro, cantón San Miguel de Urcuquí, provincia de Imbabura

This document presents information about a collection of quality control statistical analysis done over Digital Terrain Model (DTM) data. The analyzed data has been constructed from LIDAR observations from parish of Tumbabiro located at Imbabura’s province in Ecuador by means of stochastic and deterministic interpolation methods. The purpose of this analysis is to assess the geometric and thematic quality of the interpolated data and to determine its similarities and interrelations between them. For the purpose of this research LIDAR data was filtered and classified to ground observations with the help of open source GIS tools. As a next step, collections of different DTM were generated by interpolation using deterministic methods such as Triangulation, Inverse Distance Weighted and Spline (minimum curvature); and stochastic methods such as Ordinary Kriging with Linear, Spherical and Exponential models that are basically variations of the theoretical variogram models. Standardized sampling methods were applied to select a collection of check points used to assess the goodness of fitting of the modeled data to obtain a Digital Terrain Model (DTM). On these locations some statistic parameters were calculated by means of Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Correlation Coefficients. In conclusion, the results of the comparison determined that the best adjustment was obtained by the application of Ordinary Kriging DTM (stochastic methods) and with the deterministic method Spline (minimum curvature) over all the other methods used in this research.El presente estudio describe el análisis estadístico de Modelos Digitales del Terreno (MDT) generados en la parroquia de Tumbabiro, provincia de Imbabura, a partir de métodos de interpolación determinísticos y estocásticos utilizando datos LIDAR para evaluar la calidad geométrico / temática de los productos cartográficos obtenidos y determinar su interrelación y semejanzas. Objetivamente, de acuerdo a la metodología aplicada se filtró al terreno y clasificó información LIDAR mediante el uso de herramientas SIG libres, entonces se generaron Modelos Digitales del Terreno a partir de métodos determinísticos como: Triangulación, Inversa Distancia, Spline (mínima curvatura); y mediante métodos estocásticos como Kriging Ordinario Lineal, Kriging Ordinario Esférico y Kriging Ordinario Exponencial, que básicamente son variantes de modelos de variogramas teóricos. Finalmente, se aplicaron técnicas estandarizadas para la selección de muestras de puntos de chequeo que sirvieron como testigo para evaluar la calidad del ajuste e interrelación de los Modelos Digitales del Terreno a través de los parámetros estadísticos como el Error Típico de Estimación y el Coeficiente de Correlación, los cuales concluyeron que los MDT con mejor ajuste fueron los obtenidos a partir de las variantes de Kriging Ordinario (métodos estocásticos) y principalmente el producto proporcionado a través del método determinístico Spline (mínima curvatura)

“La presente tesis está orientada a mirar al pasado, a buscar las fuentes y desentrañar los posibles orígenes de nuestra poesía cantada, haciendo II un recorrido, a través de diferentes momentos y por los múltiples territorios donde esta manifestación tuvo presencia. Mencionando la figura del hacedor, el divulgador, el creador, el artista, el responsable de mantener viva esta tradición: el poeta cantor, que a lo largo de la historia ha recibido los más diversos nombres. Con esta tesis se contribuye a la comprensión de la relación entre poesía y canción y busca un acercamiento a esa larga cadena de sucesos que acontecieron en un continuo proceso de “interculturalidad” para llegar hasta nuestros días como poesía popular cantada; estas manifestaciones son expresiones vivas y a la vez son referentes identitarios de múltiples colectividades, representan tradiciones que conservan la memoria colectiva de un sin número de poblaciones que conforman nuestro país Este trabajo tiene como propósito investigar los antecedentes y orígenes de la poesía popular cantada que se trasplantó de Europa a la Nueva España, donde germinó para llegar hasta nuestros días como una poesía popular de tradición en México, enunciando los mecanismos que derivaron en la folklorización.

El documento contiene un análisis de Inversión financiera en la implementación de un Sistema de Energía Renovable para un Hotel en el municipio de San Gil, SantanderEl consumo de energía en los hoteles genera un gasto relevante para las finanzas del inversionista; cambiar el existente sistema energético actual es un trabajo de largo plazo, que a futuro generará resultados óptimos y lograra mitigar los altos costos que actualmente se paga por el consumo de energía convencional; año tras año el interés de muchas personas y principalmente de los gobiernos será combatir las causas que genera un duro golpe al medio ambiente, por tal razón uno de los objetivos de cada empresa independiente al sector que pertenezca será invertir en I&D en cada una de sus infraestructuras y habituales procesos para el servicio o producto que ofrece al mercado. La investigación que se realiza describe el análisis de inversión que se debe hacer para la implementación de energía fotovoltaica en la actividad hotelera del municipio de san gil (Santander). El escenario para adquirir la información sobre el consumo y valor promedio de energía que anualmente se refleja en los gastos fijos de la empresa, se desarrolla a través de un espacio de comunicación entre el propietario del hotel y la investigadora; una vez promediado el consumo se hace la conversión de cada elemento, con lo anterior se realiza el presupuesto para identificar la posible inversión de las adecuaciones y adquisiciones que debe hacer el inversionista con el fin de obtener un lucro financiero a futuro como lo menciona (Montaño, H. Francisco, 2016) la inversión para una empresa significa la adquisición de elementos que conformarán su activo (estructura económica), con el objeto de que estos generen una renta futura.
