Learning to Rank Academic Experts in the DBLP Dataset

Expert finding is an information retrieval task that is concerned with the search for the most knowledgeable people with respect to a specific topic, and the search is based on documents that describe people's activities. The task involves taking a user query as input and returning a list of people who are sorted by their level of expertise with respect to the user query. Despite recent interest in the area, the current state-of-the-art techniques lack in principled approaches for optimally combining different sources of evidence. This article proposes two frameworks for combining multiple estimators of expertise. These estimators are derived from textual contents, from graph-structure of the citation patterns for the community of experts, and from profile information about the experts. More specifically, this article explores the use of supervised learning to rank methods, as well as rank aggregation approaches, for combing all of the estimators of expertise. Several supervised learning algorithms, which are representative of the pointwise, pairwise and listwise approaches, were tested, and various state-of-the-art data fusion techniques were also explored for the rank aggregation framework. "Combien de personnes as-tu tuées ?": les enfants-soldats dans la littérature et le cinéma

This article will comparatively examine representations of child-soldiers in literary and cinematographic works from the North and the South, using post-colonial theory in an attempt to ascertain which power politics might be at play in the dominant northern discoursive construction of the issue, and which the focuses of resistance within a counter-discourse coming from the South are. I will also consider the way in which the southern counter-discourse and its strategies are being incorporated into the hegemonic main narrative.Cet article présente une analyse comparative des représentations d’enfants-soldats dans des œuvres littéraires et cinématographiques du Nord et du Sud. La théorie postcoloniale sera utilisée pour essayer de découvrir, d’une part les enjeux de pouvoir présents dans la construction discursive dominante du Nord et, d’autre part, les points les plus importants d’un contre-discours résistant du Sud. The role of literature in imagining and building African identities, social roles, economic dynamics and political structures cannot be underestimated. Indeed, from anti-colonialism through the preand immediate post-independence periods up to the contemporary postcolonial state, literature has been path breaking: it was through literature that pre-existing realities and historical processes were critically revised in important ways. And it was also through literature that future projects were designed that inspired political agents of all sorts, the most important example being the very construction of African states as described by the poets and storytellers that were decisive in creating the “imagined communities” that would sustain political struggle.Le rôle de la littérature dans les enquêtes et la construction des identités africaines, les rôles sociaux, la dynamique économique et les structures politiques ne peut pas être sous-estimée. En effet, de l’anti-colonialisme à travers le pré et les périodes post-indépendance immédiate à l’État postcolonial contemporain, la littérature a été de chemin de rupture: il était à travers la littérature que les réalités post-existantes et les processus historiques ont été grièvement révisées de façon importante . O Papel da Experiência Motora no Desenvolvimento Global: As Implicações na Criança com Paralisia Cerebral

Resumo A influência da atividade motora e da manipulação na aprendizagem global tem sido suportada pela perspetiva de que o movimento ativo é importante para o desenvolvimento percetivo típico, não podendo ser substituído por movimentos passivos. Por outro lado, considera-se que a atividade psicomotora potencia a internalização do movimento e a relação do corpo com o espaço. Assim, a aprendizagem humana e a conquista de estádios de desenvolvimento surgirá como resultado da experiência motora, posteriormente reforçada na organização cerebral pela experiência reflexiva. No entanto, nem todas as crianças cumprem as etapas de desenvolvimento psicomotor nos períodos típicos. Quando a questão se coloca face a crianças em desvantagem, nomeadamente com necessidades educativas especiais de caráter motor, como é o caso da paralisia cerebral, a tónica pode ganhar expressão particular. As experiências psicomotoras e sociais são, por vezes, barradas por condicionantes que privam as crianças de vivências que ocorrem de forma autónoma e espontânea, tipicamente, resultantes do desenvolvimento global. No presente texto, atravessaremos uma revisão de estudos que trazem evidências no domínio da influência da experiência motora no desenvolvimento e na aprendizagem, nomeadamente do papel da exploração ativa em idades precoces. Esta abordagem e a sua discussão, com ênfase na implicação na aprendizagem e desenvolvimento de crianças com necessidades educativas especiais de caráter motor, com destaque para a paralisia cerebral, constituem alguns dos tópicos que alicerçam este trabalho.Abstract The influence of motor activity and manipulation on the global learning has been supported by the perspective that active movement is vital to typical visuomotor and perceptual development and that it cannot be replaced by passive movements. Moreover, it is also considered that motor experience enables psychomotor development, the internalization of the body in space and the conquest of development stages. Thus, human learning emerges as the result of motor experience, later reinforced in the brain organization by reflective experience. However, not all children comply with the stages of psychomotor development in typical periods. When the issue arises regarding disadvantaged children, in particular, children with special educational needs as is the case of children with cerebral palsy, the focus can gain higher relevance. Motor and social experiences are sometimes blocked out by conditions that deprive children of experiences that are typically experienced autonomously and spontaneously. In this text, we will cross a review of major studies that provide evidence within the area of influence of motor experience on development and learning. What is the role of active exploration at early ages? To what extent does the motor action underlie perception? The discussion of this issue with focus on implications in learning and development of children with special educational needs, with an emphasis on cerebral palsy, are some of the topics that underlie this paper

Imperialist des Geistes oder Geist des Imperialismus: Der Österreicher in Robert Müllers kulturpolitischen Utopien

Im Kontext der Literatur und Publizistik Österreichs des zweiten Jahrzehnts des 20. Jahrhunderts ist das Werk des Schriftsteller und Essayisten Robert Müllers zutiefst herausragend, obwohl immer noch nicht zureichend gewürdigt. Seine Essays und kritische Schriften werden langsam von der Kritik entdeckt, aber weder die Originalität seiner reflexiven Methoden, noch die Einzigartigkeit seiner Ideen sind bisher richtig anerkannt worden – eine Tatsache, die, wie ich glaube, das Verständnis des entsprechenden kulturellen Kontextes beeinträchtigt, denn Robert Müller ist genauso singulär wie ein Mann seiner Zeit. Der kritischen Anerkennung Müllers fehlt meiner Ansicht nach das Verständnis der tiefen Einheit seines Werkes, einschließlich der fiktionalen Erzählungen und Romane, die die Kritik bisher immer geleugnet hat, und das Erfassen der Kontinuität und Kohärenz eines breiten Lebens- Schreib-, und Denkprojektes, das sowohl die Lebenshaltung, wie ein ästhetisches, philosophisches, epistemologisches, und nicht zuletzt politisches Programm umfasst. Es ist äußerst schwer, in einem kleinen Beitrag die komplexe Vielseitigkeit und Artikulationen der Werke und Gedanken Müllers zu beschreiben, die am besten im Ganzen als ein äußerst verwickeltes Labyrinth von Beziehungen, die oft mit schwer zu verstehenden Methoden hergestellt werden, verbildlicht werden können. Ich werde trotzdem versuchen, einige Hauptlinien seines Programms zu nennen und dadurch Müller, besonders als Essayisten, in seiner Epoche zu situieren

Zarathustra in den Tropen : der Text als Spirale der Wiederholung in Nietzsche und Robert Müller

Der Einfluss Nietzsches auf die Autoren des Fin-de-Siècle und des so genannten „Expressionistischen Jahrzehnts“ wird unumstritten von der Kritik akzeptiert. Jedoch beschränkt sich diese Einschätzung auch in den jüngsten Abhandlungen (Ester 2001) aufgrund von Thesen aus den 70er Jahren (zum Beispiel die des kanonischen Bandes von Martens von 1971) auf den Parameter des Vitalismus. Die Untersuchungen zur Rezeption Nietzsches in dieser Zeit konzentrieren sich größtenteils auf 'Also sprach Zarathustra' und ignorieren oder unterschätzen somit andere philosophische Texte des Autors. Auf jeden Fall kann man den deutlichen Einfluss Nietzsches auf den deutschsprachigen Modernismus weder auf den 'Zarathustra' und sein vorherrschendes Thema den Übermenschen, noch auf die metaphysische Dimension seiner Philosophie beschränken, ein Umstand, den auch das fiktionale und essayistische Werk des Wiener Autors Robert Müller (1887-1924) musterhaft unter Beweis stellt. 'Der Mythos der Reise. Urkunden eines deutschen Ingenieurs' (1915) ist ein Beispiel für einen essayistischen Roman, der nicht nur direkt von der Philosophie Nietzsches, sondern auch gerade von der jeweiligen begrifflichen und diskursiven Methodologie sowie dem jeweiligen textuellen Konzept profitiert. Es handelt sich damit um Faktoren, die auch unter dem Zeichen des Essayismus gesehen werden müssen

O valor dos activos intangíveis e o capital intelectual

Vivemos numa era onde o domínio do conhecimento e a informação constituem a base de sucesso das empresas. As pessoas são, hoje em dia, o activo mais importante de uma empresa, assim como o é, o trabalho e os processos que desenvolvem, o que em última análise constitui o conhecimento da empresa, representado pelas suas patentes, bases de dados, processos práticos, sistemas de informação, etc. Como denominar, quantificar e contabilizar estes elementos? Como explicar, que no final de 1997 os activos da Microsoft fossem apenas 6% do seu valor de mercado e que os da Coca-Cola fossem ainda menos - 4%? O que é, e como se gera esse enorme “valor escondido”? Surge a noção de Capital Intelectual como sendo tudo aquilo que existe na empresa e lhe confere vantagem competitiva. Este é progressivamente o activo mais importante e o recurso produtivo mais valioso das empresas. No entanto, a contabilidade continua a centrar-se exclusivamente no capital físico e financeiro quantificável. Nos últimos anos têm surgido inúmeros estudos relativos ao capital intelectual gerado pelas empresas, as quais desenvolvem as suas actividades num meio onde são os valores de caracter imaterial aqueles que produzem fontes de vantagens competitivas e o que diferencia as empresas umas das outras. É fundamental que a Contabilidade reconheça esta informação e a possa disponibilizar aos accionistas, investidores e actores sociais interessados em informação útil que traduza a realidade da empresa. A crescente importância e o crescente investimento em activos intangíveis aumentou significativamente nas últimas duas décadas. Isto, levou o International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) a desenvolver estudos durante anos para poder apresentar uma Norma Internacional de Contabilidade sobre activos intangíveis. Neste trabalho será feita uma breve apresentação desta norma, no sentido de avaliar as últimas orientações do IASC relativamente à contabilização de activos intangíveis. O objectivo final é tentar apresentar os domínios dos intangíveis já tratados por esta norma e, de seguida, expor alguns modelos de valorização e apresentação de bens intangíveis sobre os quais não há ainda qualquer indicação quanto à sua contabilização

O presente artigo pretende apresentar o conceito, as especificidades e as diferentes áreas de atuação inerentes às organizações de gestão de destinos como intervenientes fundamentais na promoção de destinos competitivos e sustentáveis. Discute-se a abrangência dos processos inerentes ao envolvimento dos vários atores, assim como, os papéis que se espera que estas organizações assegurem no que diz respeito à adoção tecnológica. Apresentam-se os principais contributos existente na literatura sobre as vantagens, os desafios e constrangimentos inerentes à mesma e discute-se o conceito de sistemas de gestão de destinos como infraestrutura de informação estratégica para a adoção tecnológica.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
