El objetivo de una Unidad de Cuidados Paliativos Pediátricos es proporcionar los mejores cuidados para poder vivir con la enfermedad de la forma más humana y digna posible hasta que se produzca el fallecimiento. Para facilitar una muerte en paz es fundamental conocer de forma integral al paciente, su familia, su cultura, sus creencias y adecuar nuestra intervención a sus necesidades. Presentamos el caso de un niño que quería ser atendido en su casa pero que inicialmente parecía que no iba a hacerse realidad. El realizar una evaluación inicial de los problemas, las necesidades; establecer de forma conjunta nuestros objetivos y actuaciones; y el trabajo coordinado, permitió responder al deseo del paciente de estar en su casa, con su gente y activo el mayor tiempo posible así como la muerte sin dolor, acompañado por la familia en el domicilio.The purpose of a Pediatric Palliative Care Unit is to provide the best care to live with the disease in the most humane and dignifi ed as possible until death occurs. To facilitate a peaceful death is important to know the patient, their family, their culture, their beliefs. We report the case of a child who wanted to be cared at home. Performing an initial assessment of the problems, needs, establish our goals and actions toghether, and coordinated work, allowed respond to the patient’s desire to be at home accompanied by family

Attacking DoH and ECH: Does Server Name Encryption Protect Users’ Privacy?

Privacy on the Internet has become a priority, and several efforts have been devoted to limit the leakage of personal information. Domain names, both in the TLS Client Hello and DNS traffic, are among the last pieces of information still visible to an observer in the network. The Encrypted Client Hello extension for TLS, DNS over HTTPS or over QUIC protocols aim to further increase network confidentiality by encrypting the domain names of the visited servers. In this article, we check whether an attacker able to passively observe the traffic of users could still recover the domain name of websites they visit even if names are encrypted. By relying on large-scale network traces, we show that simplistic features and off-the-shelf machine learning models are sufficient to achieve surprisingly high precision and recall when recovering encrypted domain names. We consider three attack scenarios, i.e., recovering the per-flow name, rebuilding the set of visited websites by a user, and checking which users visit a given target website. We next evaluate the efficacy of padding-based mitigation, finding that all three attacks are still effective, despite resources wasted with padding. We conclude that current proposals for domain encryption may produce a false sense of privacy, and more robust techniques should be envisioned to offer protection to end users

Deportitas "los nuevos héroes" la influencia de los medios masivos

We are living in a society where the heroes from the past, who were considered as such for saving lives or nations, have somehow expired. Today, athletes have become the new heroes. Why is this happening? One explanation is that people project on that individual what they would like to be or become (athletic, economically successful, etc). Another important reason may be that many athletes, especially in the case of Ecuador and Latin America, come from low economic strata. Most countries of the mentioned region have a large percentage of the population living under adverse conditions, so the sportsmen‟s figure becomes glorified and an example for many. This paper provides a theoretical framework or reference on the concept of the word hero and its implications; then it analyzes the cases of two outstanding characters of the Ecuadorian sports field: Jefferson Pérez, hero for the only Olympic Gold he achieved for his country, and Christian Benitez, who became one after his death.Estamos viviendo en una sociedad en la cual los héroes del pasado, considerados como tales por salvar vidas o naciones, han caducado de alguna manera. Hoy, los deportistas se han convertido en los nuevos héroes. ¿Por qué sucede esto? Una de las explicaciones es que la masa proyecta en aquel individuo algo que hubiese querido ser (atleta, económicamente exitoso, etc). Otra de las razones sobresalientes puede deberse a que muchos de los deportistas, sobre todo en el caso ecuatoriano y de Latinoamérica, provienen de estratos económicos bajos. La mayoría de países en la región mencionada tienen un gran porcentaje de la población viviendo en condiciones adversas, por lo cual la figura del deportista se convierte en algo glorificado, en ejemplo para muchos. Este trabajo de titulación contiene un marco teórico y referencial sobre el concepto de la palabra héroe, para luego analizar los casos de dos personajes sobresalientes del deporte de Ecuador: Jefferson Pérez, héroe por ganar el único Oro Olímpico del país y Christian Benítez, que se convirtió en uno, posteriormente a su muerte

Cuidados paliativos pediátricos: el afrontamiento de la muerte en el niño oncológico

El proceso de adaptación psicológica a la enfermedad y muerte de un niño es difícil por la variedad de reacciones emocionales que se presentan a lo largo del proceso. Para evitar situaciones conflictivas, que pueden provocar una angustia mayor de la que la propia enfermedad conlleva, conviene que el personal que les atiende conozca estas posibles reacciones. En este artículo se describen las características del afrontamiento de la muerte en el niño y en su entorno socio-familiar y sanitario. A redescription of the chigger Hannemania achalai Alzuet and Mauri, 1987 (Acariformes: Prostigmata: Leeuwenhoekiidae) in frogs from Sierra Grande, Cordoba, Argentina

We redescribe the endoparasitic chigger Hannemania achalai based on specimens collected from the type frog host (Pleurodema kriegi) and an additional host (P. cordobae) in the type locality of this mite (Pampa de Achala, Córdoba province, Argentina). Hannemania achalai is diagnosed by the following characters: palpal setal formula B/B/BBB/5B, palpal claw trifurcate, galeal seta B, parasubterminala I N, 2-4 genualae I, 1 genuala II–III, femorala III absent and coxa III with 1B. Pengaruh Pemberian Auksin (NAA) Terhadap Pertumbuhan Tunas Tajuk Dan Tunas Cabang Akar Bibit Karet (Hevea brasillensis Muell. Arg) Okulasi Mata Tidur

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian auksin (NAA) terhadap pertumbuhan tunas tajuk dan tunas cabang akar bibit karet okulasi mata tidur (Hevea brasillensis Muell. Arg). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Teaching and Research Farm Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jambi, Mendalo Indah, Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan yaitu A0 : Tanpa Perlakuan, A1 : Pemberian Auksin (NAA) 25 ppm, A2 : Pemberian Auksin (NAA) 50 ppm, A3 : Pemberian Auksin (NAA) 75 ppm dan A4 : Pemberian Auksin (NAA) 100 ppm. Variabel yang diamati meliputi persentase mentis, hari muncul tunas, panjang tunas okulasi, diameter tunas okulasi, jumlah daun, jumlah akar, panjang total akar, bobot kering tajuk dan bobot kering akar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian auksin (NAA) terhadap pertumbuhan tunas tajuk dan tunas cabang akar stum okulasi mata tidur karet menunjukkan reaksi. Pemberian Auksin (NAA) 25 ppm menunjukkan konsentrasi terbaik dibandingkan perlakuan lainya dan tanpa perlakuan pada variabel pengamatan persentase mentis, diameter tunas, jumlah daun, panjang akar dan berat kering akar

Influência da mecanização da colheita na viabilidade econômico-financeira da cafeicultura no Sul de Minas Gerais

This study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the influence of mechanization on economic and financial feasibilityof establishing coffee plantations in the southern region of the State of Minas Gerais. Thus, techniques or project analysis indicatorswere used to verify the economic and financial feasibility of investing in coffee activity. The main results conclude that, the use ofmechanization in the coffee harvest, when possible, has a significant impact on the composition of costs, which directly influences theperformance of the coffee enterprise in the southern region of Minas Gerais. Finally, we note that the price of coffee has an influenceon the economic viability of coffee investment which is essential to the profitability. Thus, the rural entrepreneur must use a managementstyle that emphasizes planning and cost management and seeks to optimize the productive resources used in coffee plantations, whilealso using market mechanisms to minimize the risk of coffee price variability in the future market.Objetivou-se, no presente estudo, avaliar a influência da mecanização na viabilidade econômico-financeira da exploraçãoda cafeicultura, na região sul do estado de Minas Gerais. Desse modo, foram utilizadas técnicas ou indicadores de análise de projetospara verificar a viabilidade econômico-financeira do investimento na atividade cafeeira. Como principais resultados pôde-se concluirque, a utilização da mecanização na colheita do café, quando possível, tem impacto significativo na composição de custos, o queinfluencia diretamente o desempenho do empreendimento cafeeiro na região sul de Minas Gerais. Por fim, cabe destacar que o preçodo café tem influência na viabilidade econômico-financeira do investimento cafeeiro, sendo fundamental para a sua rentabilidade.Dessa forma, o empresário rural deve efetuar um gerenciamento que priorize o planejamento e a gestão de custos, buscando aotimização dos recursos produtivos aplicados na cafeicultura, além de poder utilizar mecanismos de comercialização para minimizaro risco de variabilidade dos preços do café como mercado de futuros, por exemplo

Dimension and impact of biases in funding for species and habitat conservation

Taxonomic and aesthetic biases permeate biodiversity conservation. We used the LIFE program-the European Union's funding scheme for the environment-to explore the economic dimension of biases in species-and habitat-level conservation. Between 1992 and 2020, animal species received three times more funding than plants. Within plants, species at northern latitudes, with broader ranges, and with blue/purple flowers received more funds regardless of their extinction risk. Conversely, species online popularity was only weakly positively associated with conservation expenditure. At the habitat-level, we found no relationship between expenditure and conservation status of the habitat. Our results can inform ways forward to achieve conservation goals that are comprehensive, sustainable, and cost-effective.Peer reviewe

Asteroid Compositions: some evidence from polarimetry

Although it cannot provide direct and unambiguous information on the mineralogical composition of an asteroid surface, polarimetry is a very useful tool to get an improved understanding of parameters which are intimately related to surface composition and regolith structure. In recent times there has been a revival in the field of asteroid polarimetry, on the theoretical side, in relation to experimental simulations, and due to the activity of some teams who are engaged in extensive observational campaigns. From its knowledge, it is possible to calculate the stresses induced around the excavation and the necessary support for stabilization. This task becomes critical when the excavations have great dimensions such as caverns and when rock overburden is significant. Different methodologies are discussed, including simple regional stress maps, the survey of surface paleostress and hydraulic fracturing executed in borehole between 500 and 800 m deph. These methodologies have been applied in the Andean Cordillera Frontal, where the Agua Negra tunnel will be built between Argentina and Chile. This area is affected by the subduction of the Nazca plate beneath the South American plate.
