Effect of salinity stress on the life history variables of Branchipus schaefferi Fisher, 1834 (Crustacea: Anostraca)
BACKGROUND: Freshwater anostracans inhabit ephemeral water bodies in which as the water level decreases due to evaporation the salt concentration increases. Thus, for most anostracans salinity becomes the major stress factor. RESULTS: We tested five concentrations of NaCl (0 to 8 g/l) on the life table demography of Branchipus schaefferi fed Chlorella (alga). Age-specific survivorship curves of male and female B. schaefferi showed nearly a similar pattern in that increased salt concentration resulted in decreased survivorship. The age-specific reproduction (m(x)) of females showed several peaks of cyst production at 0 and 1 g/l salinity while in treatments containing salt at 4 or 8 g/l, there were fewer peaks. Average lifespan, life expectancy at birth, gross and net reproductive rates, generation time and the rate of population increase were all significantly influenced by the salt concentration in the medium. The highest value of net reproductive rate (970 cysts/female) was in treatments containing 0 g/l of salt, while the lowest was 13 cysts/female at 8 g/l. The rate of population increase (r) varied from 0.52 to 0.32 per day depending on the salt concentration in the medium. CONCLUSION: The low survival and offspring production of B. schaefferi at higher salinity levels suggests that this species is unlikely to colonize inland saline water bodies. Therefore, the temporary ponds in which it is found, proper conservative measures must be taken to protect this species

work environments and environments, their importance and the gaps that arise in the adoption
of the strategy in the work of health care personnel in Colombia. Based on the guidelines
suggested by the WHO / PAHO and ILO, taking into account that healthy work environments
in any work field promote good health for both the individual and the group. The reflections
expressed in the following article are based on the experience of health personnel and the
exploration of articles related to the established theme, emphasizing the limitations of the
health labor field in Colombia, where health sector companies have great technological
advances, but a notable decrease in the working conditions of health personnel in the
healthcare field (doctors, nursing professionals, technicians and technologists), who face
daily work environments full of violence and harassment with high user demand , which
significantly affects the quality of life of health care personnel, therefore the quality of service
provision generating an impact on the goals set by employers and employees. Where work
can affect health from factors such as the execution of the work, the work environment and
the form of hiring. The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor have clearly established
guidelines, but with questionable applicability in companies
Rejoinder to Juan Carlos Tedesco’s The challenge of educational policies of subjectivity. A proposal of integration of processes of subjectivation
In the Monographic Education Week of the Santillana Foundation in its XXV edition, held from 22 to 26 November 2010, Juan Carlos Tedesco and other specialists discussed the problems of exclusion, social justice and education diagnostically and prospected for the 2020. And being at 2016, it means going half the time on this prospective analysis. A replica of the section on the challenges posed by the policies of subjectivity in education is presented, and a theoretical proposal subjectivation processes based on an archeology of life experiences to finally arrive at the conclusion that all public policy is oriented to subjectivities. What unsettles fragments and to rethink is not the absence of meaning in policies, but to see if the senses given to them are or not worthy
In the company florícola Petyros. S.A, located in the Tanicuchi parish, Cotopaxi province , was carried out a study of cuali-quantitative type, to carry out a diagnosis of chemical intoxications for the carbamatos use and organofosforados in the workers of this florícola; with the objective of identifying the factors of chemical risk for chemical products intoxication exists; to diagnose and to evaluate the levels of sharp intoxication is in the workers, and the elaboration of a control proposal that serves like guide for the use and handling of the chemical products in the protection of the cultivation of flowers. First a statistical analysis was taken by every year from the 2005-2010 of the lists of the workers that rest in files, to evaluate the results of the analyses of blood, through the readings of the levels of colinesterasa eritrocitaria, if they were or a watering of sharp intoxications exists for the carbamatos use and/or organofosforados. For them to carry out comparative study of the readings of these last 6 years. Was also carried out a survey of 20 questions to 102 people about industrial security and risks of chemical contamination for the chemical products use, where you could appreciate the training level that you/they have the workers, as well as you can identify topics where it exists confusion and little knowledge, what gives us a guideline toward where to guide future trainings.
