The paper is dedicated to the analysis in the frequency domain of the currents (in common mode and differential mode) which generate conducted emissions in the supplying cable of the equipment containing a switch mode power supply (SMPS). The performed simulation considers the standard CISPR 16-1-2 which refers to specifications, methods, and test apparatus for the measurements of disturbances and immunity to conducted emissions. One proposes solutions to limit and control the conducted emissions generated by the SMPS within the supplying cable that result into noise currents and high frequency currents within the range 150 kHz – 30 MHz that might interfere with other electric equipment. Various ways to limit the mentioned emissions are simulated and analyzed. The influence of the duty-cycle over the frequency spectrum from the conducted emissions range is considered and the worst case is determined. The conclusion is that the optimum filtering solution involves the use of an EMI filter, the results being compared to the CISPR 22 standard

Objectives. The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential use of Prostate Imaging – Reporting and Data System version 2 (PI-RADS) in combination with Glutathione S-transferase P1 (GST-P1) expression for an improved diagnosis of prostate cancer, in patients with inconclusive values of prostate-specific antigen (PSA). Materials and Methods. The study was conducted on 80 patients for whom PSA values were evaluated and were found to be inconclusive (4-10 ng/ml). These patients underwent imagistic evaluation (PI-RADS), followed by transurethral prostate biopsy, with the evaluation of GST-P1 expression and histopathological examination (for diagnosis confirmation). Results. By combining the results of PI-RADS and GST-P1 the capacity of the tests to correctly identify healthy subjects, with an area under curve of 0,832 (95% CI 0.732–0.907), with a sensitivity of 73,25% and a specificity of 77,78%. Conclusions. PI-RADS lesions and GST-P1 methylation testing when PSA levels are in a “grey zone”, provide a better specificity and sensitivity by comparison through single testing. Testing patients with inconclusive PSA levels allows for a more accurate diagnosis and less over-diagnosis by non-invasive procedures, such as repeated biopsies

Dissemblances of the pariadom in the novels of Dominique Fernandez : of a certain form of magnificence. The ordinary being and the artist : a mimetic duo facing the inescapable radicalness of power

The novels of Dominique Fernandez gather the dimension of pariahdom according to two tutelary axes : "the artist as a pariah" in relation with the "ordinary outcast". The former lives under the influence of the dual spectrum of immortality /oblivion ordained by the presence/absence of one's body. Indeed, Caravaggio, rehabilitated by a voice from beyond the grave, leaves to find his own "physical body" that the definitively lost on a beach. In spite of the spatiotemporal differences between the two artists, Pasolini inevitably undergoes the same process of body dispossession. For his part, Tchaikovski becomes the negative model of the social wrongfulness that needs to be extirpated at all costs. Thus he will become the "scapegoat" of a Puritan society. The immortal artist does not shout out a desperate plea or a cry for help through the centuries ; he rather radicalizes the emergency of a unique voice which obstinately tries to legitimate the existence of the "artistic body". Pasolini, Caravaggio and Tchaikovski represent the immortal epiphany of such a statuary posture. The artistic immortality is eminently profane and has a negative corollary the "oblivion". Consequently, Porporino, Gian Gaston and Friedrich/Franz are different from the immortal artist and definitively immerse into oblivion. Finally, "the ordinary being", incapable to autonomously live a type of love that "dares say its name", finds in the mimetical approach the immanence of a survival act necessary in order to escape from a repressive society. Falling prey to nostalgia for the past, the ordinary being leads an underground life, governed by the terror of imminent failur

THE ANALISYS OF UNSTEADY FIELDS SHIELDING EFFICIENCY USING DOUBLE LAYERED SHEETS

    No full text
Abstract -The results of experimental tests emphasized the shielding efficiency when one uses sheets of CuE (electrolytic copper) and respectively of steel during the impact with the electromagnetic radiation. The variations of the wave impedance and of the penetration depth are analyzed for these materials with respect to the frequency range of 1...120 kHz. The advantages of shielding with double layered sheets is deduced based on calculations concerning the behavior of the plane wave at the impact with the steel sheet and respectively with the CuE sheet

System of 7 kW for distributed generation using dedicated control systems

The paper deals with a prototype for a small power system used for distributed generation. The system contains a group motor-generator that uses a static power converter controlled with the interface board and the modular system dSpace, for a power of almost 7 kW and can be used in modern power systems - including those for the electric driving of urban vehicles. The system's main components are presented: the power schematic, the interface board, the dSpace modular system. The interface board and the dSpace modular system were designed, realized and tested in laboratory. Experimental tests were performed for various operating conditions and operating regimes of the entire system. One presents the waveforms for three categories of currents: (a) injected by the inverter in the power system; (b) absorbed by the non-linear load; (c) generated by the supplying network. One could demonstrate a proper operation of the static converter and of the corresponding control system

Assessment of Histological Features in Squamous Cell Carcinoma Involving Head and Neck Skin and Mucosa

Background: squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common type of malignancy worldwide. Skin and mucosa of the head and neck areas are the most frequently affected. An aggressive behavior in SCC is not easily detected, and despite all efforts, mortality in these types of cancer did not show major improvements during recent decades. In this study, we aim to determine the role of histological features available through standard pathology assessment in SCC and their relation with tumor behavior and patients’ survival. Method: in a group of one hundred patients diagnosed with SCC involving the head and neck areas, we assessed the presence of four histological features (tumor/stroma ratio, immune infiltration at the front of invasion, tumor-budding activity, and tumor necrosis), their correlations with tumor type (mucosal or cutaneous), tumor clinicopathological characteristics, and their prognostic potential. Results: the comparison between histological features in cutaneous versus mucosal SCC reveals no significant differences for any of the four parameters assessed. We found significant correlations between tumor/stroma ratio and lymphatic metastasis (p = 0.0275), perineural invasion (p = 0.0006), and clinical staging (p = 0.0116). Immune infiltration at the front of invasion revealed similar correlations with lymph node involvement (p = 0.002), perineural invasion (p = 0.0138), and clinical staging (p = 0.0043). Tumor budding and tumor necrosis correlated with the size of the tumor (p = 0.0077 and p = 0.0004) and the clinical staging (p = 0.0039 and p = 0.0143). In addition, tumor budding was significantly correlated with perineural invasion (p = 0.0454). In mucosal SCC, patients with improved outcome revealed high values for the tumor/stroma ratio (p = 0.0159) and immune infiltration at the front of invasion (p = 0.0274). However, the multivariate analysis did not confirm their independent prognostic roles. Conclusions: extended histological assessments that include features such as tumor/stroma ratio, immune infiltration at the front of invasion, tumor budding, and tumor necrosis can be an easy, accessible method to collect additional information on tumor aggressiveness in skin and mucosa SCC affecting the head and neck areas
