Nova mesura de l'experiment ATLAS amb xocs de protons

    Get PDF
Get PDF
A dual-band bandpass filter consisting of multiconductor transmission lines (MTL) and shunt stubs has been designed. The used topology, based on the interconnection of two identical MTL and a shunt open stub, has a frequency response that can be modelled by using the generalized Chebyshev functions. A prototype of a 4 fingers-MTL is manufactured and measured and a good agreement between analytical and measured results is obtained. Furthermore, it is easy to get a design criterion that enables getting good responses varying just a few parameters.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech

Miniaturized top-metallized rectangular dielectric resonator antenna

    Get PDF
In this paper, a modal analysis of a rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA), with unconventional boundary conditions, is carried out. Analytical equations of the fields inside the resonator and simulations are presented, showing that if a resonator is mounted over a ground plane and loaded by a top metallic sheet, there is a miniaturization of the electric size of the new antenna, without significant deterioration of performance. Furthermore, dual-band responses can be achieved with this configuration.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech

Simulating FRSN P Systems with Real Numbers in P-Lingua on sequential and CUDA platforms

    Get PDF
Fuzzy Reasoning Spiking Neural P systems (FRSN P systems, for short) is a variant of Spiking Neural P systems incorporating fuzzy logic elements that make it suitable to model fuzzy diagnosis knowledge and reasoning required for fault diagnosis applications. In this sense, several FRSN P system variants have been proposed, dealing with real numbers, trapezoidal numbers, weights, etc. The model incorporating real numbers was the first introduced [13], presenting promising applications in the field of fault diagnosis of electrical systems. For this variant, a matrix-based algorithm was provided which, when executed on parallel computing platforms, fully exploits the model maximally parallel capacities. In this paper we introduce a P-Lingua framework extension to parse and simulate FRSN P systems with real numbers. Two simulators, implementing a variant of the original matrix-based simulation algorithm, are provided: a sequential one (written in Java), intended to run on traditional CPUs, and a parallel one, intended to run on CUDAenabled devices.

[EN] The aim of this Final Degree Project is to analyze the influence that investor ownership has on the environmental, social and corporate governance performance of the company, as well as its influence on the financial result. To do this, an analysis will be carried out for non-financial companies, with headquarters in Spain and listed on the Spanish Stock Exchange, for the period from 2002 to 2022. The results show that companies with a higher percentage of ownership by institutional investors have a better performance, something that cannot be demonstrated for companies that have a greater percentage of ownership in the hands of family investors

Combined therapies of antithrombotics and antioxidants delay in silico brain tumor progression

Glioblastoma multiforme, the most frequent type of primary brain tumor, is a rapidly evolving and spatially heterogeneous high-grade astrocytoma that presents areas of necrosis, hypercellularity and microvascular hyperplasia. The aberrant vasculature leads to hypoxic areas and results in an increase of the oxidative stress selecting for more invasive tumor cell phenotypes. In our study we assay in silico different therapeutic approaches which combine antithrombotics, antioxidants and standard radiotherapy. To do so, we have developed a biocomputational model of glioblastoma multiforme that incorporates the spatio-temporal interplay among two glioma cell phenotypes corresponding to oxygenated and hypoxic cells, a necrotic core and the local vasculature whose response evolves with tumor progression. Our numerical simulations predict that suitable combinations of antithrombotics and antioxidants may diminish, in a synergetic way, oxidative stress and the subsequent hypoxic response. This novel therapeutical strategy, with potentially low or no toxicity, might reduce tumor invasion and further sensitize glioblastoma multiforme to conventional radiotherapy or other cytotoxic agents, hopefully increasing median patient overall survival time.Comment: 8 figure

Analyzing the impact of Driving tasks when detecting emotions through brain–computer interfaces

    Get PDF
Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death among young people, a problem that today costs an enormous number of victims. Several technologies have been proposed to prevent accidents, being brain–computer interfaces (BCIs) one of the most promising. In this context, BCIs have been used to detect emotional states, concentration issues, or stressful situations, which could play a fundamental role in the road since they are directly related to the drivers’ decisions. However, there is no extensive literature applying BCIs to detect subjects’ emotions in driving scenarios. In such a context, there are some challenges to be solved, such as (i) the impact of performing a driving task on the emotion detection and (ii) which emotions are more detectable in driving scenarios. To improve these challenges, this work proposes a framework focused on detecting emotions using electroencephalography with machine learning and deep learning algorithms. In addition, a use case has been designed where two scenarios are presented. The first scenario consists in listening to sounds as the primary task to perform, while in the second scenario listening to sound becomes a secondary task, being the primary task using a driving simulator. In this way, it is intended to demonstrate whether BCIs are useful in this driving scenario. The results improve those existing in the literature, achieving 99% accuracy for the detection of two emotions (non-stimuli and angry), 93% for three emotions (non-stimuli, angry and neutral) and 75% for four emotions (non-stimuli, angry, neutral and joy)

Parallel simulation of Population Dynamics P systems: updates and roadmap

    Get PDF
Population Dynamics P systems are a type of multienvironment P systems that serve as a formal modeling framework for real ecosystems. The accurate simulation of these probabilisticmodels, e.g. with Direct distribution based on Consistent Blocks Algorithm, entails large run times. Hence, parallel platforms such as GPUs have been employed to speedup the simulation. In 2012, the first GPU simulator of PDP systems was presented. However, it was able to run only randomly generated PDP systems. In this paper, we present current updates made on this simulator, involving an input modu le for binary files and an output module for CSV files. Finally, the simulator has been experimentally validated with a real ecosystem model, and its performance has been tested with two high-end GPUs: Tesla C1060 and K40.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad TIN2012-37434Junta de Andalucía P08-TIC-0420

Simulating a Family of Tissue P Systems Solving SAT on the GPU

    Get PDF
In order to provide e cient software tools to deal with large membrane systems, high-throughput simulators are required. Parallel computing platforms are good candidates, since they are capable of partially implementing the inherently parallel nature of the model. In this concern, today GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit) are considered as highly parallel processors, and they are being consolidated as accelerators for scienti c applications. In fact, previous attempts to design P systems simulators on GPUs have shown that a parallel architecture is better suited in performance than traditional single CPUs. In 2010, a GPU-based simulator was introduced for a family of P systems with active membranes solving SAT in linear time. This is the starting point of this paper, which presents a new GPU simulator for another polynomial-time solution to SAT by means of tissue P systems with cell division, trading space for time. The aim of this simulator is to further study which ingredients of di erent P systems models are well suited to be managed by the GPU.Junta de Andalucía P08-TIC04200Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad TIN2012-3743
