    Artificial Vision for Manufacturing System

    Artificial vision for manufacturing is a very important step when the process is automatic, so to improve productivity with high quality, this investigation presents a new method for manufacturing by applying artificial intelligence for tool selection; in the proposed method, a camera takes a picture and artificial program is applied to process the image and thus generate it to the size of the cutting tool. This chapter describes the development of a new method by programming using artificial vision to select the cutting tool. The experimental results show that the combination of artificial vision and programming is capable of selecting the correct tool

    Structured and flexible gray-box composition: Application to task rescheduling for grid benchmarking

    International audienceThe evolution of complex distributed software systems often requires intricate composition operations in order to adapt or add functionalities, react to unanticipated changes to security policies, or do performance improvements, which cannot be modularized in terms of existing services or components. They often need controlled access to selected parts of the implementation, e.g., to manage exceptional situations and crosscutting within services and their compositions. However, existing composition techniques typically support only interface-level (black-box) composition or arbitrary access to the implementation (gray-box or white-box composition). In this paper, we present a more structured approach to the composition of complex software systems that require invasive accesses. Concretely, we provide two contributions, we (i) present a small kernel composition language for structured gray-box composition with explicit control mechanisms and a corresponding aspect-based implementation; (ii) present and compare evolutions using this approach to gray-box composition in the context of two real-world software systems: benchmarking of grid algorithms with NASGrid and transactional replication with JBoss Cache

Concretely, we provide three contributions: (i) we present a small kernel composition language for structured gray-box composition using invasive distributed patterns; (ii) we motivate that gray-box composition approaches should be defined and evaluated in terms of the flexibility and control they provide, a notion of degrees of invasiveness is introduced to help assess this trade-off; (iii) we apply our approach to a new case study of evolution and evaluate it in the context of two previous studies involving two real-world software systems: benchmarking of grid algorithms with NASGrid and transactional replication with JBoss Cache. As a main result, we show that gray-box composition using invasive distributed patterns allows the declarative and modular definition of evolutions of real-world applications that need moderate to high degrees of invasive modifications

We introduce a new composition framework in Java that supports the definition of expressive pattern-based invasive compositions. Fur thermore, we show that the composition framework allows us to concisely define an evolution scenario of OpenMRS that supports the consolidation of patient data from differ- ent remote instances

    La presente investigación se realizó con el propósito de establecer en qué medida, la aplicación del taller Comunidad educativa en acción, mejora la seguridad institucional en la Unidad Educativa Fiscal José María Urbina de Guayaquil-Ecuador. La investigación se aplicó con un diseño preexperimental de tipo experimental ya que en el estudio induce a un grupo exploratorio para después aplicarles un control de medición que permitió observar el efecto en una de las variables. Para el estudio realizado se tomó como población al total de los 50 educadores, tomando como muestra la cantidad de 21 docentes la misma que representa un 42 % de la población. La técnica utilizada en la recolección de información para la variable Seguridad Institucional, fue la encuesta y la lista de cotejo. El instrumento adecuado para registrar los datos de la investigación referente a la variable fue un cuestionario de 18 ítems con una valoración escalar de Nunca, Casi siempre y Siempre. Los resultados obtenidos en el Pre y Post Test evidencian que la investigación realizada ha tenido una buena perspectiva relacionado a la Seguridad Institucional. Como conclusión se determina que los resultados obtenidos en el taller fueron muy favorables lo que indica también que los docentes demostraron muy buena asimilación de los temas expuestos logrando relevancia en cuanto a conocimiento a los temas relacionados con la Seguridad Institucional en el mencionado centro educativo

    An optimization model for investment in technology and government regulation

    Companies struggle every day to estimate the adequate level of investment in new technologies, and governments lack the tools to determine the impact of their regulations on industry including telecommunications networks. Despite these facts, few studies discuss ways to assess appropriate levels of investment for technological initiatives and government regulations. To fill this gap, this study provides an optimization model for the investment of technology and government regulation, based on efficiencies. Results obtained from surveying northern European companies support the importance of estimating investment in technology and government regulation levels. The survey identified the four most relevant factors for practitioners: quality, cost, technology adoption, and government regulations. Based on the survey’s results, the model evaluates the level of investment for technology adoption and government regulations using cost and quality as target variables. Additional data from a German carrier served to test the model. Results show that technology investment delivers more benefits in cost and quality by increasing technology adoption. However, the model also suggests that diminishing returns make efficiencies stall at a certain level of technology adoption, and shows an investment threshold dependent on the type of benefit, cost, or quality the company seeks to maximize. Regarding government regulation, the model shows a counterintuitive behavior at higher levels of investment for the cost coefficients and at all levels of investment for the quality coefficient. This suggests that government regulation effects could be shifting from fixed-order cost to other types of costs
