Problem of the formation of the theoretical foundations of the development of the volunteer movement in sports (an integral component of the industry of the regulatory framework of sports law)

Purpose: to substantiate the defining provisions of the optimization of organizational and methodological activities in the process of preparing volunteers in the system of sports competitions and managing this process. Material & Methods: in the conducted research were used: the analysis of literary sources and regulatory documents relating to the problem under consideration; expert assessments; modeling of organizational processes; method of chronological observations; methods of subjective diagnosis of behavior motivation, mathematical modeling in the processing of empirical data. Results: the meaningful meaning of the basic concepts used in the volunteer movement in question was established, the mechanism for forming volunteering as a phenomenon in the structure of interdependent social relations was established, methods for classifying the qualitative characteristics of volunteer activity and the quantitative expression of their manifestation were developed. Conclusions: the problem of forming the theoretical foundations of the development of the volunteer movement in sports reaches its solvability due to the developed methods of geometric expression of the semantic content of the terms and triads used, which are the basis of the construction of special semantic spaces

Linguistic Means in Image of COVID-19 (German Political Discourse in Media)

The article is focused on the role of lexical and prosodic means of expression in the coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic in German political media discourse. As a research task, the authors identified an attempt to assess the dynamics of the image of the coronavirus phenomenon in the media and to identify the conditionality of the use of linguistic units at certain stages of the pandemic. The material for the study was transcripts and audio recordings of plots from leading German news channels in the first half of 2020. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the frequency of the use of lexical units and the correlation of lexical and prosodic means of expression. In the course of linguo-stylistic analysis, the main stylistic means are established, depicting the course of the pandemic and the fight against the virus. The prosodic features of the informants' speech, which are determined in the course of the electroacoustic analysis of statements, are brought into consideration. The impact of COVID-19 on all spheres of public life in Germany and its maximum representation in the media determine the relevance of this study. The novelty of the study is seen in the application of a comprehensive methodology for analyzing expressive means in the speech of informants in the period from January to May 2020

Chronicles of nature calendar, a long-term and large-scale multitaxon database on phenology

We present an extensive, large-scale, long-term and multitaxon database on phenological and climatic variation, involving 506,186 observation dates acquired in 471 localities in Russian Federation, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. The data cover the period 1890-2018, with 96% of the data being from 1960 onwards. The database is rich in plants, birds and climatic events, but also includes insects, amphibians, reptiles and fungi. The database includes multiple events per species, such as the onset days of leaf unfolding and leaf fall for plants, and the days for first spring and last autumn occurrences for birds. The data were acquired using standardized methods by permanent staff of national parks and nature reserves (87% of the data) and members of a phenological observation network (13% of the data). The database is valuable for exploring how species respond in their phenology to climate change. Large-scale analyses of spatial variation in phenological response can help to better predict the consequences of species and community responses to climate change.Peer reviewe

Perception of Foreign and National Political Leaders in Russia

The present study aimed to determine the composition of factors that underlie the images of foreign and domestic political leaders among Russian youth and therefore play a major role in shaping social representations. The research was conducted within the theoretical and methodological framework of the psychosemantic approach, which seeks to reconstruct systems of meanings, both individual and collective, through the investigation of implicit as well as explicit categories of perception. The study comprised two stages, in which participants were administered a psychosemantic questionnaire to evaluate political leaders according to some professional and personal characteristics. The first part was conducted in 2015–2016 with a student sample (n = 147) using a set of political leaders from various countries. In the second part, carried out in 2017–2018, the participants (n = 200) also filled out a questionnaire, this time evaluating modern Russian leaders. A principal component analysis was performed on each of the data sets, revealing that two categories—namely, morality and professional characteristics—are present in both factor structures, whereas other factors are different. Several important theoretical and practical implications are discussed

Game-based language learning in the context of distance education

The abrupt transition of the educational institutions to distance learning because of objective reasons related to the Covid-19 pandemic and the social isolation required the teachers to review the existing approaches to the classes organization and make appropriate changes. Rethinking traditional methods with game-based technologies expect not to “lose” contact with the audience and maintain its learning motivation. This study aims to generalize the experience of game-based technologies incorporation in university French classes at different levels to preserve and enhance the students learning motivation in the context of distance education. The scientific problem considered in the article fits into the problems of research aimed at studying the effective teaching methods and technologies that contribute to forming the students’ motivation. To achieve the research goal, the inductive-deductive method is used, as well as the methods of situational analysis. The analysis of existing approaches to the motivation phenomenon allowed the authors to define its importance in teaching foreign languages and to determine the role of the game-based methods in learning motivation enhancement. The result of the study is a demonstration of applied game-based technologies and their positive impact on learning motivation during distance education
