    Get PDF
Surface coating is essentially important to overcome the corrosion problem, namely in oil and gas industry. Corroded pipelines (internally or externally) may require a major cost (in terms of capital cost and side costs i.e. to maintain a healthy and sustainable environment) if the problem is not being encountered properly. The immediate objective of this project is to make a comparison on the effects of water absorption on the adhesion properties of polyurea and epoxy. Parameters involved are thickness of coating and temperature of environment. The experiment done is water absorption where the absorption rate is being analysed. This is followed by evaluation using Pull-Off Adhesion Test and verified using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The results indicate that polyurea has higher absorption rate and lower bond strength due to water absorption compared to epoxy. SEM analysis shows that polyurea is more suitable to be applied at thickness of 2mm coating and above at 50°C. In conclusion, polyurea is more prone towards loss of adhesion compared to epoxy. High absorption in polyurea also indicates a possibility of high release of unreacted components inside polyurea, which may harm the environment. For future studies purpose, the project may focus on extraction and verifying the exact quantity of unreacted species inside the polyme

This study aims to identify the educational problems encountered by teachers of public schools in the city of Al Ain, United Arab Emirates by answering the following research questions; (a) what problems are faced by teachers of public schools in the city of Al Ain, United Arab Emirates? (b)Are there significant differences in the problems faced by teachers of public schools in the city of Al Ain, regarding the variable of gender and educational cycle and years of experience? (c) How can we overcome the problems faced by teachers of public schools in the city of Al Ain, United Arab Emirates? To achieve the objectives of the study and answer the research questions, a questionnaire was prepared to identify the problems faced by teachers of public schools in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates; the questionnaire was designed after reviewing the related literature and previous studies. The questionnaire, quantitative research tool, consists of 43 items covering three main groups; problems related to students, problems related to the profession, and problems related to parents. The validity of the questionnaire was measured and approved by a panel of educational experts. The reliability and internal consistency of the tool was measured by calculating the coefficient Cronbach’s alpha after a pilot sampling of 27 participants. Cronbach’s alpha for the whole items of the tool is (0.89); it is (0.75) for items related to students; (0.82) for items related to the profession, and (0.88) for problems related to parents. The study population consisted of all teachers (4098) in schools of Al Ain educational Office for the academic year 2012-2013. (1100) teachers were sampled in a randomly stratified manner and the sample represents almost 19% of the study population. The study findings can be stated as follow; (a) the total score of the problems faced by teachers of public schools in Al Ain, was in a medium level, and its mean score was (1.75). Regarding the problems related to parents, the largest problems faced by teachers of public schools, ranked the first in a mid-degree and its mean score was (2.03). Lack of parent’s care in following up their children academically was the most common problem faced by teachers. The problem related to the profession ranked the second in a mid-degree and its score was (1.63). The low teacher’s salary compared to the salaries of other profession was considered one of the biggest problems teachers face related to the profession. While the problems related to students, respectively, ranked the third to a low degree and a mean score of (1.59). The student’s lack of motivation for learning is the biggest problem they face. There are significant differences of all the problems faced by teachers of public schools related to students, profession and parents due to the variance of gender. Male teachers are facing problems related to students and parents more than female teachers; whereas, female teachers face problems related to the profession more than male teachers do. There are significant differences of all the problems faced by teachers of public schools related to students, and parents due to the variable of educational cycle. The problems faced by teachers of public schools relating to students and their parents are varied according to the cycle. When moving to the next cycle the problems increase and vice versa. The problems mean scores are converging in the third cycle and joint schools. The results showed no significant differences in the problems faced by teachers in term of profession. There was no significant difference between problems faced by teachers of public schools and cycle related to the profession

The purpose of this in vitro study is to determine the expression of growth factors upon exposure of dental pulp stem cells (DPSC) to eluded Dycal®solution. In this book, samples were collected from sound, permanent teeth (age between 18-40 years old), with informed consent from patients who came for dental extraction under general anesthesia or local anesthesia at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya. The isolation, culturing methods, growth kinetics, flowcytometry analysis and multilineage differentiation were carried out as described by Govindasamyet al., (2010). Cultured DPSC was then exposed to multiple concentration of Dycal®. The test samples were immersed and incubated in culture medium for 2, 5 and 8 days at 370C. The cytotoxic cell count was then recorded by Trypan Blue Dye exclusion. Then, total RNA was extracted and loaded into each well of The Human Growth Factors RT2 ProfileTM PCR arrays (www.SABiosciences.com) profiles that contain of 96 genes related to growth factors. RT2 Profiler PCR array was then performed on ABI Prism 7900HT (Applied Biosystems), and Sequence Detection System (SDS) v1.4 software was used to analyze the results. Samples with a cycle threshold of 35 or less were included for calculationsof the fold change in gene expression. As a result, a total of 38% genes were up-regulated in treated DPSC whereas, a total of 61% genes were down-regulated.Based on the up-regulated genes, it was found that 12 significant functions and 14 canonical pathways in treated DPSC might play a significant role in repair. The functional pathways of expressed genes that were up-regulated in treated DPSC were tissue development including cell growth and proliferation, cell to cell signaling and interaction and DNA replication, recombinant and repair in organism development

Greening tea consumption would be one of the alternatives that help energizing innovative ecosystem. It is a way to reduce, reuse or recycle a waste thing which refers to reused tea bag and loose leaf tea. Tea bags or even loose leaf tea always can be used more than once, whether for a second cup of tea or by using it for numerous purposes. Rather throw it away to dustbin which is considered as a waste, it is better to reuse or recycle it for certain purposes. Imagines how much can we cut down our waste packaging which refer to individual tea bag whereby we have thrown out about 1095 tea bags each year assuming that we use only once a tea bag per cup and drinks on average three cups of tea per day. Tea bags and loose leaf teas can be multipurpose which they can be reused for cleaning, health and beauty, kitchen purpose, gardening, painting, dye fabrics, tell the future and self- analyze. As a conclusion, greening our tea consumption actually would give many good impact to our daily life which we are not realized on and would save our ecosystem in the future
