El lugar del arte rupestre en la historia lingüística de tejas: lenguas indoamericanas

Peopling America has caused linguistic, social and cultural changes that also extend to rock art. The linguistic perspective is not usually used to approach this topic, although it can be extremely informational. To understand human development, internal and external sources are required. One external source is that of paintings in rock shelters which allow an ethnolinguistic interpretation as well as the opportunity to investigate the fragmentation of American Indian (Amerindian) languages and their contact with Indo-European languages. The internal sources are those of the linguistic structures of languages and facts from their analysis. Nevertheless, the question: “what can a linguist do in archaeological research?” — except translating, naturally — is always present. The incursions of archaeologists in Linguistics, Colin Renfrew, for instance, are however normally justified. In this paper I’ll present some lines of research, and even some results, based on linguistic — or philological — tools, which might clarify some archaeological and historical issues.La ocupación del territorio americano por el hombre ha producido cambios lingüísticos, sociales y culturales que se pueden percibir en el arte rupestre. Pese a sus posibilidades, la Lingüística no se aplica normalmente al estudio de este asunto, que requiere el uso de fuentes internas y externas. Una de las fuentes externas es la pintura rupestre tejana conservada en una serie de viseras o refugios y que se presta a una interpretación etnolingüística al mismo tiempo que permite estudiar la fragmentación de las lenguas indoamericanas y su contacto con las indoeuropeas. Las fuentes internas comprenden las estructuras lingüísticas de las lenguas y los hechos derivados de su análisis. Siempre se repite la pregunta sobre cuál es el papel del lingüista en la investigación arqueológica (dejando a un lado la traducción). En cambio, las incursiones de los arqueólogos, como Colin Renfrew, en la Lingüística se ven como justificadas. En esta contribución se presentarán varias líneas de investigación, e incluso algunos resultados, basadas en instrumentos lingüísticos o filológicos, que pueden clarificar varios aspectos arqueológicos e históricos

Financial information and restructuring of spanish savings banks in a context of crisis. Changes in the regulation; content and evolution of FROB

The worsening of the financial crisis in September 2008, coinciding with the collapse of Lehman Brothers, set off unprecedented action in the European states to support the stability of their markets and financial institutions. Different forums asked for joint and faster implementation. This lead the Spanish authorities to take a series of measures. In the first part of this paper we make a theoretical review of previous studies at international level on early warning systems and about prediction of failure in the banking sector. No doubt it helps to situate and understand better the later Spanish analysis, why it is necessary and its development. We also analyze the evolution of the Spanish financial system between 2008-2011 with the focus on explaining the reform and restructuring of savings banks. Specifically, a study of the accounting and financial standards evolution is made, as well as an examination of the changes in banking regulations that emerged during this period and the role of the Banking Management Restructuring Fund (FROB) and the Institutional Protection Systems (SIP).FROB, SIP, banking regulation changes, early warning systems.

Sangre y tinta desde Ivain hasta La venganza de don Mendo

Hace treinta y cinco años que el autor y el homenajeado tienen pendiente una síntesis del tema de “la sangre acusadora”. En este homenaje se renuevan y amplían los argumentos ya usados, a los que se añaden otros, aumentando el corpus textual ahora mejor conocido. El discurso sigue la historia de la literatura española en sus registros culto y folclórico, incluidos los necesarios pasadizos hacia la literatura comparada. Termina, de momento, con una sección desde el humor, para animar al lector, porque la historia continúa. Thirty five years ago, the author and J. B. de Avalle-Arce started a written discussion on the Bahrprobe: “Corpse bleeds when murderer touches it”. The moment has arrived to use it as a token of friendship and appreciation. Alternating old and new arguments, well known texts and less known samples, the subject proceeds along a revision of the motif in Spanish Literature and Folklore, including different registers, and an exercise of Comparative Literature as well. A humorous reflection conveys a smile to the reader of this Festschrift. To be continued

A Non-Parametric Approach to Spatial Causality

The purpose of this paper is to show the capacity of a new non-parametric test based on symbolic entropy and symbolic dynamics to deal with the detection of linear and non-linear spatial causality. The good performance of the new test in detecting spatial causality and causal weighting matrix is notable and gives rise to an expectation that it may form a adequate tool for constructive specification searches.Causality; Spatial Dependence; Spatial Weight Matrices
