The extent to which science can be taught is a concept thatlinks the object of study of the science, the way in which ithas been structured theoretically, epistemologically andmethodologically and the didactics which permit qualifiedteaching. This article describes the relationship betweenpedagogical practice and the nature of the the discipline ofscience which has to be taught. It analyses the praxis ofteaching in the light of the concepts of what, who, why andhow a science or discipline is taught. It illustrates howdifferent specific didactics have been gaining strength inrelation to teaching objectives. It assumed some of theresulting ideas of the research "Enseñabilidad de laPsicología" (Arrivillaga,M y Aragón, L 2002). Thisresearch took on the complexity of the discussion relatingto the teaching of Social Sciences in which one can perceivemore precisely the real problem of the contents to be dealtwith. It presents a short discussion about the historicalevolution of the objecto of study of Psychology and the wayin which the concept of this object by educators -professors-intervenes in his/her teaching. Finally, it exposes thecharacteristics of "Vivencia" (personal experience) as aspecific didactic tool of Psychology its interactions and thecircumstances which surround its implementation. &nbsp

A dried tomato-flavored probiotic cream cheese (P) containing Lactobacillus paracasei Lpc-37 was developed for the purpose of this study. The same product, but without probiotic addition (C) was used as control. Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis and Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris were used as lactic starter cultures. Chemical composition analyses and sensory tests were performed on days 1 and 7, respectively. Titratable acidity, pH value and L. paracasei population were determined every 7 d during the refrigerated storage (21 d) of the cream cheeses. The experiment and analyses were performed in triplicate, using standard methods. Probiotic population remained greater than 10(7) CFU/g throughout the storage period, thereby characterizing the product as potentially probiotic. Cream cheeses C and P did not differ on the sensory tests, both obtaining good overall acceptance by the consumers, of which 82.6% stated that they certainly or probably would buy the product.Univ. Patterns and universals of mate poaching across 53 nations : the effects of sex, culture, and personality on romantically attracting another person’s partner

As part of the International Sexuality Description Project, 16,954 participants from 53 nations were administered an anonymous survey about experiences with romantic attraction. Mate poaching--romantically attracting someone who is already in a relationship--was most common in Southern Europe, South America, Western Europe, and Eastern Europe and was relatively infrequent in Africa, South/Southeast Asia, and East Asia. Evolutionary and social-role hypotheses received empirical support. Men were more likely than women to report having made and succumbed to short-term poaching across all regions, but differences between men and women were often smaller in more gender-egalitarian regions. People who try to steal another's mate possess similar personality traits across all regions, as do those who frequently receive and succumb to the poaching attempts by others. The authors conclude that human mate-poaching experiences are universally linked to sex, culture, and the robust influence of personal dispositions.peer-reviewe

The authors thank Susan Sprecher (USA), Del Paulhus (Canada), Glenn D. Wilson (England), Qazi Rahman (England), Alois Angleitner (Germany), Angelika Hofhansl (Austria), Tamio Imagawa (Japan), Minoru Wada (Japan), Junichi Taniguchi (Japan), and Yuji Kanemasa (Japan) for helping with data collection and contributing significantly to the samples used in this study.Gender differences in the dismissing form of adult romantic attachment were investigated as part of the International Sexuality Description Project—a survey study of 17,804 people from 62 cultural regions. Contrary to research findings previously reported in Western cultures, we found that men were not significantly more dismissing than women across all cultural regions. Gender differences in dismissing romantic attachment were evident in most cultures, but were typically only small to moderate in magnitude. Looking across cultures, the degree of gender differentiation in dismissing romantic attachment was predictably associated with sociocultural indicators. Generally, these associations supported evolutionary theories of romantic attachment, with smaller gender differences evident in cultures with high–stress and high–fertility reproductive environments. Social role theories of human sexuality received less support in that more progressive sex–role ideologies and national gender equity indexes were not cross–culturally linked as expected to smaller gender differences in dismissing romantic attachment.peer-reviewe

ABSTRACT 6-Methylcoumarin (6MC) is a semisynthetic coumarin with important in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory activity. In order to continue the pre-clinical characterization of this molecule, in vitro intestinal permeability, plasma profile and tissue distribution after oral administration in rats were studied. The permeability of 6MC was evaluated by the Caco-2 cellular model in both the apical-basal (A-B) and basal-apical (B-A) directions. The pharmacokinetics and biodistribution were evaluated in rats after oral and intraperitoneal administration at doses of 200 mg/kg. Transport experiments with Caco-2 cells showed that 6MC presented high permeability at all concentrations evaluated. This finding suggested that 6MC could be transported across the gut wall by passive diffusion. The plasma concentration-time curve showed that the maximum concentration (Cmax) was 17.13 ± 2.90 µg/mL at maximum time (Tmax) of 30 min for the oral route and Cmax 26.18 ± 2.47 µg/mL at 6.0 min for the intraperitoneal administration, with elimination constant of (Ke ) 0.0070 min-1 and a short life half time of (T1/2 ) lower that 120 min. The distribution study showed that 6MC has high accumulation in the liver, and widespread distribution in all the organs evaluated

This study evaluated three fermented milk beverages to which had been added sugar strawberry puree post-fermentation. The base was composed of 70% of milk, with whey and buttermilk in the concentrations of 30% and 0%, 15% and 15%, and 0% and 30%, respectively. The starter culture developed well with all formulations reaching pH 4.74.9 in 180 min of fermentation. Lactic acid bacteria in the products were above 8 log cfu/mL throughout the study. The beverages presented similar pH, acidity and viscosity. Buttermilk and whey can be interesting ingredients to be added into fermented milk beverages, because the consumers liked all the products equally, which had an average acceptance score exceeding liked moderately
