Abstract : The objective of this dissertation was to evaluate the degree of maturity of the institutional self - assessment process of the Federal University of Santa Catarina for the year 2015, developed and coordinated by the UFSC 's Own Evaluation Commission (CPA). The institutional evaluation gained strength with the institution of the Program of Evaluation of Brazilian Universities (PAIUB), which appeared with the intention of printing a permanent evaluation to the institutions. The evaluation is implemented through the National System of Evaluation of Higher Education (SINAES), instituted by Law No. 10,861, dated April 14, 2004. However, SINAES only regulates and supports the institutional evaluation in higher education institutions (HEIs), and presents what should be evaluated, but not the form that should be performed, thus, it is up to the institutions to decide which format or way they will use to self-evaluate. Given this, it is essential to know and identify the level of maturity of the processes of self-assessment, because it is through it that the bottlenecks or areas of opportunity are identified that will facilitate and guide the points to be developed for the improvement of institutional practices. In order to measure the degree of maturity of the self-assessment, a structured data collection instrument was created, applied to the members of the CPA, based on the evaluation criteria of a guide to good practices used in Information Technology governance for Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT), aligned with the PDCA (planning, execution, control, and action) tool. COBIT is one of the most used IT governance frameworks in the world. Bibliographical and documentary research was used for this dissertation. The documentary research involved the data related to UFSC's institutional self-assessment, which were surveyed in reports produced by the CPA and various institutional reports. It was an applied, descriptive, qualitative research and presented the case study of the Federal University of Santa Catarina and the Self Assessment Commission from the analysis of an instrument of the management cycle, the self-assessment. Among the main results, the research showed that the degree of maturity of the UFSC self-assessment was 2.58, close to level 3, where policies, plans and procedures are defined, documented and communicated, seeking to ensure effective compliance, But monitoring is still faulty and requirements are not properly addressed. The stage that obtained the lowest level of maturity was stage VI - Proposition and Implementation of the Actions, in which the obtained level was of 0.88, near the level 1, that is represented by the existence of process consciousness, but there are informal processes compliance

Due to rapid development and consumer adoption of technology, the hospitality industry has dramatically increased online-based user-generated reviews for a variety of services, such as those found in eWOM communities (e.g., TripAdvisor). Few studies have tested-among eWOM communities-the correlation between hoteliers' review site use intensity and hotel characteristics. The purpose of this paper is to examine the predictors of TripAdvisor use intensity, as perceived by Moroccan hoteliers. After the literature review on user-generated content, a quantitative study based on a structured questionnaire survey was developed, and correlation analyses were conducted to empirically validate the relationship between hotel characteristics and the use of TripAdvisor among a population of 48 hotel managers. The results showed that all variables studied commitment, competence, hotel size (number of beds), hotel category, and type of ownership were positively related to the intensity of use of review sites. This study deepens hotel practitioners' understanding of the importance of user-generated content and offers suggestions on how to improve eWOM advocacy. Moreover, this paper contributes to the recent and still scanty research line on eWOM from the hoteliers' perspective. The novelty lies in the positive relationships between hotel features (commitment, competence, hotel size, hotel category, and type of ownership) and user-generated review sites (TripAdvisor). It extends current literature and provides practitioners with some guidance on user-generated content and hotel characteristics.FCT-Foundation for Science and TechnologyPortuguese Foundation for Science and Technology [UID/SOC/04020/2019

Effective Parameters Controlling Sterol Transfer: A Time‑Resolved Small‑Angle Neutron Scattering Study

Though cholesterol is the most prevalent and essential sterol in mammalian cellular membranes, its precursors, post-synthesis cholesterol products, as well as its oxidized derivatives play many other important physiological roles. Using a non-invasive in situ technique, time-resolved small angle neutron scattering, we report on the rate of membrane desorption and corresponding activation energy for this process for a series of sterol precursors and post-synthesis cholesterol products that vary from cholesterol by the number and position of double bonds in B ring of cholesterol’s steroid core. In addition, we report on sterols that have oxidation modifications in ring A and ring B of the steroid core. We find that sterols that differ in position or the number of double bonds in ring B have similar time and energy characteristics, while oxysterols have faster transfer rates and lower activation energies than cholesterol in a manner generally consistent with known sterol characteristics, like Log P, the n-octanol/water partitioning coefficient. We find, however, that membrane/water partitioning which is dependent on lipid-sterol interactions is a better predictor, shown by the correlation of the sterols’ tilt modulus with both the desorption rates and activation energy

A temporal difference method for multi-objective reinforcement learning

This work describes MPQ-learning, an temporal-difference method that approximates the set of all non-dominated policies in multi-objective Markov decision problems, where rewards are vectors and each component stands for an objective to maximize. Unlike other approximations to Multi-objective Reinforcement Learning, MPQ-learning does not require additional parameters or preference information, and can be applied to non-convex Pareto frontiers. We also present the results of the application of MPQ-learning to some benchmark problems and compare it to a linearization procedure. This work is partially funded by grants TIN2009-14179 (Spanish Government, Plan Nacional de I+D+i) and TIN2016-80774-R (AEI/FEDER, UE) (Spanish Government, Agencia Estatal de Investigación; and European Union, Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional). Flipping the classrrom in courses of statistics: analyzing the feedback from students

[EN] We present the application of the flipped classroom strategy in two subjects of the degree in Statistics (University of Barcelona-Polytechnic University of Catalonia) and analyse the opinion of students about the experience. The objective is to improve the learning process of statistics by promoting a more active attitude of students in the classroom. The new strategy has been welcomed by students, as most of them are satisfied with the experience. Many of them would like that the stratgy would be applied to a significant number of lessons in the subject, or even in other subjects of the degree. Moreover, students think that it helped them to develop their capacity to organize their study time and their self-learning competence. They also think that with the flipped classroom strategy they learn more than with the traditional classes, but they remark the importance of imcluding a session where the teacher answers the questions and solves the doubts of students to ensure a sucessful implementation.http://ocs.editorial.upv.es/index.php/HEAD/HEAD18Alcañiz, M.; Lopez-Tamayo, J.; Perez-Marin, A.; Riera, C.; Santolino, M.; Chulia, H.
