    El artículo propone la autoría de Diego García Rengifo para la hasta ahora anónima La Comedia de la invención de la sortija, interpretada por los niños del Colegio de la Compañía de Monforte, en 1594, ante el cardenal don Rodrigo de Castro, los VI condes de Lemos y su hijo don Pedro. Los indicios que apoyan esta hipótesis son varios: Diego García Rengifo -profesor de latín y griego en el citado colegio y autor de Arte Poética Española-se encontraba en Monforte en la fecha en queLa Comediafue escrita y representada, conocía Galicia y la lengua gallega, que utiliza en algunos de los versos, por haber pasado veinte años de su vida en el Colegio de Monterrey. El trabajo aporta documentación sobre las relaciones entre el jesuíta y los Lemos y desvela aspectos familiares y de política cultural de la poderosa estirpe de los condes de Lemos a finales del siglo XVI.The article proposes the authorship of Diego García Rengifo for the so far anonymous La Comedia de la invención de la sortija, played in 1594 by the children of the Colegio de la Compañía in Monforte, to the cardinal don Rodrigo de Castro, the VI counts of Lemos and their son, don Pedro. The indications that support this hypothesis are several: Diego García Rengifo -Latin and Greek teacher of the aforementioned Colegio and author of the Arte Poética Española- was living in Monforte on the date that La Comedia was written and performed. He knew Galicia and the Galician language that he uses in some of the verses, after twenty years of his stay at the Colegio in Monterrey. The work provides documentation on the relationship between the Jesuit and the Lemos family and reveals familiar aspects and cultural policy of the powerful lineage of the counts of Lemos in the late sixteenth century

    Ecofeminist Insights into Contemporary Poetry by Irish and Galician Women Writers

    [Abstract] Since the 1960s, there has been a growing ecological awareness which has had its impact on the production and analysis of literature. Ecofeminism, in particular, denounces the androcentric exploitation and subordination of both nature and women. This rise of ecofeminism has coincided in time with the emergence of an unprecedented number of women poets in the Irish and Galician literary traditions. In this essay, I would like to consider the possible ways in which gender becomes a relevant notion in the relationship of human and non-human nature and to find out whether contemporary poetry by Irish and Galician women writers has an ecofeminist import. Central to this discussion are the issues of the mediation of language and the recourse to tropes of nature to interrogate social prejudices, traditional politics of desire and to vindicate new spaces for women

    Translation, Migration and Gender: Some Ecocritical and Ecofeminist Considerations

    Grant for the research project “Post-Human Intersections in Irish and Galician Literatures” (PID2022-136251NB-I00) funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by “ERDF A way of making Europe”.This chapter examines the translation principles that sustain the anthology Migrant Shores. Irish, Moroccan & Galician Poetry (Palacios 2017) with the aim to explore their ecofeminist relevance. The focus of this anthology on women’s migrations and its collaborative purpose, by which Irish writers translate poetry from minoritized languages within Europe into English, will be the starting point for a discussion of the implications for translation studies of current debates on self and Other and the encounter with difference in the fields of anthropology, post-colonial studies, ecocriticism and ecostylistics. Among the aspects to be considered are the following: heterarchical relations, the critique of dualistic dynamics, the ecology of attention, the interconnectedness of ecological and cultural diversity, and the risks of anthropocentric and ethnocentric narcissism. Furthermore, the ecofeminist import is assessed by attending to the critique of the androcentric disregard for the experience of women’s migration, the visibilization of women writers, and by delving into the literary tropes that entwine gender and nature.This study has been carried out under the auspices of the research project “Posthuman Intersections in Irish and Galician Literatures”, funded by the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion and ERDF, ref.     The effects of electronic mail on Spanish L2 discourse

    This paper analyzes the effectiveness of using e-mail as a tool to promote foreign language learning in and out of the classroom. The study identifies the following features of the foreign language generated through the electronic medium, some of which have already been observed in previous studies: (a) greater amount of language; (b) more variety of topics and language functions; (c) higher level of language accuracy; (d) more similarity with oral language; (e) more student-initiated interactions; and (f) more personal and expressive language use. These observations are expected to expand the generalizations made in previous studies, and more finely tune theoretical propositions, about how to integrate electronic communication in the classroom in order to facilitate foreign language learning. The observation of these features, together with the tentative explanations of the cause for their appearance, is expected to contribute to a better understanding of the language learning processes that result from the use of electronic communication in the context of a foreign language course. It is also hoped that further research in this topic confirms the prediction that foreign language learners exposed to this learning tool would become lifelong learners of the foreign language beyond the classroom context

    Translation in the feminine: Theory, commitment and (good) praxis

    The gap between translation theory and practice can be narrowed by means of translators' self-reflections on their practice, although they need to acknowledge the specificity of their standpoint and avoid speaking from a transcendent position. This article engages in such self-reflective practice in order to denounce the strategies of stigmatization of feminist translation in the patriarchal defense of national culture and literary tradition. The nascent translation industry in Galicia is still marred by a bad praxis that exposes the power imbalance among the various actors involved in the translation process. Also, the introduction of the gender variable in the debate around the tensions between professional translators and amateurs reveals interesting loci of alternative practices.     Capacidad para la cooperación de las empresas innovadoras de Andalucía: tipología y redes

    La cooperación en innovación es un mecanismo para el intercambio de conocimiento complejo al que no todas las empresas pueden enfrentarse. Se pretende averiguar la capacidad del tejido empresarial andaluz para crear redes de cooperación con agentes de diferentes ámbitos geográficos. A través de 263 encuestas a empresas, se caracterizan 181 casos con estos vínculos. Mediante la aplicación del análisis clúster, se reconocen cinco tipos de firmas concluyendo que las empresas innovadoras de Andalucía captan poco conocimiento del exterior, pues predominan las redes regionales constituidas con organismos públicos de investigaciónCooperation on innovation is a mechanism for a complex knowledge exchange which not all companies can face. The aim is to find out the capacity of the Andalusian business fabric to create cooperation networks with agents from different geographical areas. After carrying out 263 surveys to companies, 181 are characterized by these links. By performing the cluster analysis, five types of firms are found.
