Características de la huella plantar en deportistas colombianos

The principal objective of this research is to establish the influence of the practice of sports on the characteristics of the footprint in athletes who practice track and field, weightlifting, and swimming. The study was carried out on 280 athletes participating in the 18th National Sports Games: 50 weightlifters, 135 track and field athletes, and 95 swimmers. Each athlete was asked a standard set of questions, and a photopodogram was made of each athlete’s footprint. Hernandez Corvo’s method was applied to determine the type of foot; photoanalisi software was used to quantify the length and width; and the type of forefoot was determined by observation of footprint photographs. The results show a statistically significant difference among sports, for both the right and the left foot, with a high prevalence of high-arched foot in swimming and in track and field. In weightlifting, one finds a greater number of athletes with feet in the normal range. A high percentage of individuals were found whose feet showed asymmetry. There was a statistical difference in the type of forefoot, as well as in the length and width of the forefoot. It was concluded that there is a tendency toward the high-arched type of foot, regardless of the kind of sport practiced, although the prevalence of this type of foot was greater among track and field athletes and swimmers. A high percentage of asymmetry was found in the type, length, and width of feet.El objetivo principal de esta investigación es establecer la influencia de la práctica deportiva en las características de la huella plantar en practicantes de atletismo, levantamiento de pesas y natación. El estudio se realizó a 280 deportistas participantes de los XVIII Juegos Deportivos Nacionales, 50 practicantes de levantamiento de pesas, 135 de atletismo y 95 de natación. A cada uno se le aplicó una encuesta y se hizo un fotopodograma de la huella plantar. Se aplicó el método de Hernández Corvo para determinar el tipo de pie; para cuantificación del largo y ancho se utilizó el software Fotoanalisi, y el tipo de ante pie se determinó a partir de la observación de la fotografía de la huella. Los resultados mostraron una diferencia estadísticamente significante entre deportes, tanto para el pie derecho como para el izquierdo, con una alta prevalencia de pie cavo, en natación y en atletismo. En levantamiento de pesas se observa un mayor número de deportistas en el rango de normalidad. Se determinó un alto porcentaje de individuos cuyos pies derecho e izquierdo mostraron asimetría. Existió diferencia estadística en el tipo de antepié, así como en el largo y ancho del mismo. Se concluye que hay una tendencia a un tipo de pie cavo, independiente del deporte practicado, aunque la prevalencia de los mismos fue mayor en los practicantes de atletismo y natación. Genetic Analyses of Rice Grain Quality, Male Sterility and Wide Compatibility in Louisiana Hybrids

High yield and superior grain quality are utmost importance in a rice breeding program. The first objective of this research was to identify allele-specific DNA markers for endosperm chalk by analysis of SNP databases and selective genotyping (Experiment I) with subsequent marker evaluation among lines with diverse genetic backgrounds (Experiment II). Experiment I revealed 47 markers associated with chalk in at least one of three environments. Nineteen of these markers were considered stable while 14 were novel. Experiment II conducted in Louisiana and Arkansas in 2016 showed among 89 diverse lines, four common SNP markers for chalk on chromosomes 1, 2, and 12, three SNPs on chromosomes 2 and 6 for the SB5 subgroup, three SNPs on chromosomes 1, 9, and 10 for tropical japonica inbred lines, and five SNPs on chromosomes 1 and 3 for tropical japonica by indica RILs. Significant markers identified in this study may be used in genomic selection scheme to develop Louisiana varieties with low endosperm chalk. The second objective of the research was to identify and develop KASP-SNP markers as alternatives to SNP in male sterile 2009S using haplotype and linkage disequilibrium analyses. No SNP in this study completely distinguished male fertile from male sterile plants. However, two SNPs at the top of on chromosome 2 that differentiated two major haplotypes in adapted Louisiana japonica and indica germplasm may be used for indirect selection of male sterile lines. The third objective was to investigate association of wide compatibility gene S5n with yield and other agronomic characters. For lines with similar genetic background, S5nS5j hybrids produced significantly greater spikelet fertility and yield per plant than S5iS5j hybrids. Three genotypes (S5nS5n, S5iS5i and S5jS5j) were observed in U.S. and Louisiana hybrid parents. Long grain varieties carried S5nS5n while medium-grains exhibited S5jS5j. Male sterile and restorer lines showed mixtures of the three genotypes. Genotypes of testcrosses with low and high spikelet fertility confirmed the association of S5n with normal spikelet fertility in indica/japonica hybrids. S5nSi genotypes showed comparable spikelet fertility and yield to S5nS5n testcrosses. This study emphasized the need to breed and develop S5n male sterile and restorer lines to overcome potential indica-japonica hybrid sterility

Finalmente a modo de conclusión del informe presentado se menciona que a razón de los posibles cambios de la Constitución es imposible dar indicaciones adelantadas sobre las problemáticas identificadas en lo que concierne a las rentas de la provincia de Bogotá.
