Aspects of thermal one-point functions and response functions in AdS Black holes

We revisit the problem of analytically computing the one point functions for scalar fields in planar AdS black holes of arbitrary dimension, which are sourced by the Weyl squared tensor. We analyze the problem in terms of power series expansions around the boundary using the method of Frobenius. We clarify the pole structure of the final answer in terms of operator mixing, as argued previously by Grinberg and Maldacena. We generalize the techniques to also obtain analytic results for slowly modulated spatially varying sources to first non-trivial order in the wave vector for arbitrary dimension. We also study the first order corrections to the one point function of the global AdS black hole at large mass, where we perturb in terms that correspond to the curvature of the horizon.Comment: v2: references added, minor typos fixe

Nonlinear Stability Analysis of the Classical Nested PI Control of Voltage Sourced Inverters

This note provides the first nonlinear analysis of the industry standard "partial decoupling plus nested PI loops" control of voltage sourced inverters. In spite of its enormous popularity, to date only linearization-based tools are available to carry out the analysis, which are unable to deal with large-signal stability and fail to provide estimates of the domain of attraction of the desired equilibrium. Instrumental to establish our result is the representation of the closed-loop dynamics in a suitable Lure-like representation, that is, a forward system in closed-loop with a static nonlinearity. The stability analysis is then done by generating an adequate Popov multiplier. Comparison with respect to linearization is discussed together with numerical results demonstrating non-conservativeness of the proposed conditions

The words Transcorporality and Metacorporality are used to indicate the  objects or persons with whom there ir an emotionaly relevant relation  the former or from whom there is gain of pleasure or joy. The consideration of these two forms of relations through the body is due to the theory of corporality from several modern philosophies as well as the intimacy that these relations suppose. The former is a relation in which the fate of the other is personaly important and is similar to the concept of empathy. The second is a specific interpretation of utility. None of these relations is ethically irrelevant. Efficient Matrix-Free Ensemble Kalman Filter Implementations: Accounting for Localization

This chapter discusses efficient and practical matrix-free implementations of the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) in order to account for localization during the assimilation of observations. In the EnKF context, an ensemble of model realizations is utilized in order to estimate the moments of its underlying error distribution. Since ensemble members come at high computational costs (owing to current operational model resolutions) ensemble sizes are constrained by the hundreds while, typically, their error distributions range in the order of millions. This induces spurious correlations in estimates of prior error correlations when these are approximated via the ensemble covariance matrix. Localization methods are commonly utilized in order to counteract this effect. EnKF implementations in this context are based on a modified Cholesky decomposition. Different flavours of Cholesky-based filters are discussed in this chapter. Furthermore, the computational effort in all formulations is linear with regard to model resolutions. Experimental tests are performed making use of the Lorenz 96 model. The results reveal that, in terms of root-mean-square-errors, all formulations perform equivalently
