A body finding freedom within itself
When a dislocation of any type occurs, whether geographical, emotional, or spiritual, the disorder pushes the self to retreat to safety. For me, that safety is in my body. It is in this place of retreat where I locate my original home.
In this space of translocation, I forage for materials from my surroundings and places that I belong to. Moving between Dubai, Damascus, Beirut, and Providence, I shape a reality dependent on what is available. I then transform these materials, searching for the forms and relationships that emerge while meditating on home and the body as a moving vessel and container for attachments.
My work involves various modes of reflection through making. Drawings help with understanding experiences, while foraging and assemblage are the physical structures that embody narratives, histories, realities, and memory. Recorded sounds register localities and spaces. I am interested in documenting the shifts, transitions, challenges, and resolutions as they occur, whether in the work or in myself.
I am centering beauty as a form of hope, rather than the pervasive violence and pain that follows the bodies of people from the Levant diaspora. Hope exists in the new generation that escaped the holds of the greatest burden, carrying the legacy and memory of our parents and ancestors through time and place.

Evaluating Research Competency Among Alumni Of PBI (A Study At English Language Education Department Of UIN Ar-Raniry)
This study is aimed to analyze the difference between participants’ research competency, source of research competency, and problem-related to the conduct of research. The samples are nine alumni from English Language Education Department; three alumni finished thesis in one semester, three alumni in two semesters, and other in three semesters. This qualitative research used semi-structured interview with recorder and note-taking. The author analyzed research competency based on the work of Ivanenko et.al. (2015). As a result, alumni who finished thesis in one semester have a higher research competency than others. The author also found out that alumni tend to gain research competency from research courses, research conduction, and self-study. Finally, in term of problem-related to the conduct of research, the author found out that alumni tend to have problems with self-motivation, supervisors, time/class schedule, finding previous studies, finding proper data analysis, and finding participants during research conduction
IMPLEMENTASI KURIKULUM MERDEKA PADA MATA PELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM
Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka merupakan kurikulum yang lebih mengoptimalkan peserta didik untuk mendalami konsep dan menguatkan kompetensi dan bertujuan untuk memulihkan pendidikan di Indonesia setelah terjadinya pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka pada mata Pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di SMA N 1 Slawi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data primer diambil dari guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dan peserta didik SMA N 1 Slawi. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Maka dari itu tujuan pada penelitian ini menggambarkan realita atau fakta di lapangan. Dari hasil analisis yang dilakukan penulis, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa: (1) Perencanaan Kurikulum Merdeka yang dilakukan oleh guru pada pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di SMA N 1 Slawi yaitu dengan mengikuti pelatihan Kurikulum Merdeka yang bertujuan agar guru lebih siap untuk menerapkan Kurikulum Merdeka pada pembelajarannya. Selain itu, guru juga melakukan tes diagnostik dan menyusun Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan minat peserta didik. (2) Dalam implementasinya, guru Pendidikan Agama Islam telah mengadaptasi metode belajar sesuai dengan kondisi dan kemampuan peserta didik. Materi diajarkan dengan mendalam dan memiliki makna yang signifikan, namun tetap disampaikan dengan cara yang menarik dan menyenangkan. (3) Evaluasi Kurikulum Merdeka pada pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di SMA N 1 Slawi yaitu melakukan penilaian sikap, pengetahuan dan ketrampilan secara terpisah. Penilaian sikap yang dilaksanakan selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung, penilaian pengetahuan dilakukan melalui ulangan dan penilaian keterampilan dilakukan dengan menilai praktik keagamaan dan pelaksanaan projek penguatan profil pelajar Pancasila (P5).Kata Kunci: Kurikulum Merdeka, Perencanaan, Pelaksanaan dan Evaluas
EVAIUATION OF THE GENOTOXIC EFFECTS OF SOME BIOLOGICALY ACTIVE SUBSTANCES
There are more and more substances coming in contact with people and environment, they have got genotoxic features, which cause hereditary illnesses and tumors. Though cancer treatment becomes more and more effective, still the amount of deaths from tumors caused by harmful substances are increasing from year to year. To reduce the effects of these harmful substances, they should be detected and avoided.To perform experiments using Saccaromyces cerevisiae mutagenicity testsystem and Escerichia coli SOS chromotest to find out biologically active substances used in labs and industry, also its mixture or separate compounds possessing genotoxicity with other substances. The genotoxic properties of 11 substances were studied. Results showed that formaldehyde, urethane, acridine orange, acridine yellow, furazolidone, nalidixic acid, hydrogen peroxide, potassium bichromate, was a strong inducers of the genotoxic disorders
The role of atmospheric boundary layer-surface interactions on the development of coastal fronts
Frictional convergence and thermal difference between land and sea surface are the two surface conditions that govern the intensity and evolution of a coastal front. By means of the mesoscale model MM5, we investigate the influence of these two processes on wind patterns, temperature and precipitation amounts, associated with a coastal front, observed on the west coast of The Netherlands in the night between 12 and 13 August 2004. The mesoscale model MM5 is further compared with available observations and the results of two operational models (ECMWF and HIRLAM). HIRLAM is not capable to reproduce the coastal front, whereas ECMWF and MM5 both calculate precipitation for the coastal region. The precipitation pattern, calculated by MM5, agrees satisfactorily with the accumulated radar image. The failure of HIRLAM is mainly due to a different stream pattern at the surface and consequently, a different behaviour of the frictional convergence at the coastline. <br><br> The sensitivity analysis of frictional convergence is carried out with the MM5 model, by varying land surface roughness length (<I>z</I><sub>0</sub>). For the sensitivity analysis of thermal difference between sea and land surface, we changed the sea surface temperature (SST). Increasing surface roughness implies stronger convergence near the surface and consequently stronger upward motions and intensification of the development of the coastal front. Setting land surface roughness equal to the sea surface roughness means an elimination of frictional convergence and results in a diminishing coastal front structure of the precipitation pattern. The simulation with a high SST produces much precipitation above the sea, but less precipitation in the coastal area above land. A small increment of the SST results in larger precipitation amounts above the sea; above land increments are calculated for areas near the coast. A decrease of the SST shifts the precipitation maxima inland, although the precipitation amounts diminish. In the situation under study, frictional convergence is the key process that enhances the coastal front intensity. A thermal difference between land and sea equal to zero still yields the development of the coastal front. A lower SST than land surface temperature generates a reversed coastal front. <br><br> This study emphasizes the importance of accurate prescription of surface conditions as input of the numerical weather prediction model to improve coastal front predictability
LAPORAN PRAKTIK PENGALAMAN LAPANGAN UNIVERSITAS NEGERI YOGYAKARTA
Program PPL merupakan kegiatan yang wajib ditempuh oleh mahasiswa
UNY guna mendapatkan pengalaman mengajar secaralangsung di lapangan.
Tujuan yang ingin dicapai, yaitu mengembangkan kompetensi mahasiswa sebagai
calon pendidik atau tenaga kependidikan. Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan ( PPL )
yang dilaksanakan oleh Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta merupakan suatu mata
kuliah aplikatif yang berfungsi untuk mengembangkan kemampuan mahasiswa
dalam bidang kependidikan. Praktik ini mengupayakan suatu ketrampilan
kependidikan yang diperoleh di kampus agar di kembangkan mahasiswa di tempat
praktik.
Pada praktik pengalaman lapangan kali ini praktikan memperoleh tempat
praktik di SMP Negeri 3 Klaten. PPL dimulai dari tanggal 02 Juli - 17 September
2014. Kegiatan PPL yang dilaksanakan meliputi : praktik mengajar, pembuatan
administrasi guru meliputi pembuatan Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran, dan
media pembelajaran. Praktik persekolahan yang meliputi piket guru dan upacara
bendera serta kegiatan lain yang berkaitan dengan kependidikan dan dapat
membantu mahasiswa untuk memperoleh bekal dan pengalaman mengenai tugas
guru sebagai seorang pengajar dan seorang pendidik. Kegiatan yang dilakukan
dalam PPL adalah mengajar pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Jawa kelas VII (A - H)
juga mengisi jam kosong untuk mata pelajaran lain. Kegiatan PPL ini dilakukan
dengan tujuan konkret sebagai persiapan bila terjun pada masyarakat sekolah
sebagai guru Bahasa Jawa.
Dari kegiatan PPL yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa PPL berjalan
dengan lancar. PPL merupakan kegiatan di mana mahasiswa PPL belajar
bersosialisasi dengan lingkungan pembelajaran sekolah, kegiatan ini memiliki
makna sebagai persiapan untuk melatih mahasiswa jika kelak terjun ke dalam
masyarakat dengan sesungguhnya, selain itu PPL melatih mahasiswa bekerja
dengan kelompok dan segala pihak yang memiliki karakteristik berbeda. Kegiatan
ini merupakan kesempatan bagi mahasiswa untuk menerapkan teori- teori
pembelajaran yang diterima di bangku kuliah pada keadaan yang nyata
