Differential response of phosphorus utilization efficiency in rice by tracer technique using phosphorus-32 under phosphorus stress environment
In most soils, soil and fertilizer Phosphorus (P) are easily bound by either soil organic matter or chemicals and thus are unavailable to plants unless hydrolyzed to release inorganic phosphate. Therefore, the development of P-efficient rice varieties that can grow and yield better with low P supply is a key to improve crop production. P efficient plants play a major role in increasing crop yields due to shortage of inorganic P fertilizer resources, limited land and water resources and increasing environmental concerns. Based on the P uptake efficiency, four rice genotypes viz.,TNRH 180, CB08504, CB06732 and ADT 47 were selected from the field experiment and used in pot culture experiment with three levels of P using radio isotope technique to quantify the P acquisition efficiency (PAE) and P use efficiency (PUE) and also to determine the native P supplying power of the soils using 32P in low P soils. Growth and yield parameters, grain and straw yield and major nutrients uptake of rice genotypes were increased with enhanced level of phosphorus application. Among the four genotypes, TNRH 180 recorded the highest grain yield and uptake. Increasing the P application rate from 25 to 50 kg P2O5 ha-1 increased the %Pdff in grain and straw for all the genotypes. The mean per cent phosphorus utilization (PPU) ranged between 18.74 and 23.72. The PPU of the genotypes followed the order TNRH 180 (23.72 %) > CB08504 (23.36 %) > CB06732 (20.54%) > ADT 47 (18.74%). The PPU values were higher at lower level of P application (25 kg P2O5 ha-1) for the genotypes TNRH 180, CB08504 and CB06732. From this study showed that rice genotypes have the ability to utilize the both available and unavailable form of phosphorus by secreting some organic acids in the root portion to solubilize. Hence rice genotypes indicated above have the ability to increase phosphorus utilization efficiency

Expressing emotions in words: Facebook text-based comments in Tamil
Language being used as a communication tool is embedded with emotions. Emotions in language are obvious in face-to-face (F2F) communication than in any other forms of communications. Media Richness Theory explains that the richer the media is the more successful communication will be and vice versa (Moczynski, 2010). This means text-based communication such as letters, e-mails, memo and so forth lacking of non-verbal cues like intonations, facial expressions, body movements and others, will not be as successful as F2F communication. On the other hand, there are also studies which have proven that computer mediated communication can convey non-verbal cues as effective as in F2F communication by manipulating the fonts with capitalization or using coloured fonts to express emotions (Mali, 2007; Boonthanom, 2004). Nevertheless, how is it possible to communicate non-verbal informations in a language like Tamil which does not have capital letters or colour code? The aim of this study is to identify the techniques used by Tamils in conveying emotions through words in facebook. Pedestrian Detection with Wearable Cameras for the Blind: A Two-way Perspective
Blind people have limited access to information about their surroundings,
which is important for ensuring one's safety, managing social interactions, and
identifying approaching pedestrians. With advances in computer vision, wearable
cameras can provide equitable access to such information. However, the
always-on nature of these assistive technologies poses privacy concerns for
parties that may get recorded. We explore this tension from both perspectives,
those of sighted passersby and blind users, taking into account camera
visibility, in-person versus remote experience, and extracted visual
information. We conduct two studies: an online survey with MTurkers (N=206) and
an in-person experience study between pairs of blind (N=10) and sighted (N=40)
participants, where blind participants wear a working prototype for pedestrian
detection and pass by sighted participants. Our results suggest that both of
the perspectives of users and bystanders and the several factors mentioned

A framework to predict energy related key performance indicators of manufacturing systems at early design phase
Increasing energy prices, growing market competition, strict environmental legislations, concerns over global climate change and customer interaction incentivise manufacturing firms to improve their production efficiency and minimise bad impacts to environment. As a result, production processes are required to be investigated from energy efficiency perspective at early design phase where most benefits can be attained at low cost, time and risk. This article proposes a framework to predict energy-related key performance indicators (e-KPIs) of manufacturing systems at early design and prior to physical build. The proposed framework is based on the utilisation and incorporation of virtual models within VueOne virtual engineering (VE) tool and WITNESS discrete event simulation (DES) to predict e-KPIs at three distinct levels: production line, individual workstations and the components as individual energy consumption units (ECU). In this framework, alternative designs and configurations can be investigated and benchmarked in order to implement and build the best energy-efficient system. This ensures realising energy-efficient production system design while maintaining predefined production system targets such as cycle-time and throughput rate. The proposed framework is exemplified by a use case of a battery module assembly system. The results reveal that the proposed framework results meaningful e-KPIs capable of supporting manufacturing system designers in decision making in terms of component selection and process design towards an improved sustainability and productivity
Language choice of Malaysian Tamil students in Facebook: a case study in a Malaysian university
Language is a powerful identity of an ethnic group. It is with difficulty that a minority group maintains its mother tongue in a multilingual society, particularly so when other languages such as Malay, English and Chinese have economic advantages over Tamil. Even though in Malaysia Tamil language is taught in primary schools for children aged 7 to 12 and in secondary schools for the students aged 13 to 18, only a few continue to study this language in their higher education. It is a challenge for the educators in higher education institutes to encourage and attract students to study Tamil and is equally challenging to encourage them to maintain Tamil language in their daily conversations. The main aim of this study is to identify the language used in Facebook communication among the Malaysian Tamil students in the university. Reasons for their language choice and some strategies to maintain the usage of Tamil language in social networking platform are also discussed in this paper. Students aged 22 to 24 from a university in the central region of Peninsular Malaysia which offers Tamil studies, are chosen as the participants of this study. The participants were interviewed for their language choice. The finding shows that the participants with excellent Tamil language competency, used code mixing, Romanised Tamil more than Tamil or Tamil script in Facebook communication. This study found a way to make the participants converse solely in Tamil. An altered language behaviour in cyberspace emerging out of unknown consideration, was thwarted and normal language use was restored
IoT Based Industrial Production Monitoring System Using Wireless Sensor Networks
The objective of the work is to monitoring the production lines in industry using wireless sensor networks. This work presents the benefits of an automated data collection and display system for production lines. It involves wireless sensor networks for monitoring the productions in industry. Condition monitoring reduces human inspection requirements through automated monitoring, reduces maintenance through detecting faults before they escalate and improves safety and reliability. This work can monitor productions using temperature, voltage and current sensors with support of microcontroller. The relay is acts like a switch to monitor the production lines. In this work, Global System for Mobile communication technique is used to transferring the collected data. The collection of data, it is transferred into computerize spreadsheet in the remote office by authorized personnel for reporting purpose. The system will generate an automated report which stays in place and the management only needs to act base on the results. This work is cost effective automatic data collection is the alternative to manual data collection. It significantly improves the accuracy of the valuable reports for the management. Proposing a holistic framework for the assessment and management of manufacturing complexity through data-centric and human-centric approaches
A multiplicity of factors including technological innovations, dynamic operating environments, and globalisation are all believed to contribute towards the ever-increasing complexity of manufacturing systems. Although complexity is necessary to meet functional needs, it is important to assess and monitor it to reduce life-cycle costs by simplifying designs and minimising failure modes. This research paper identifies and describes two key industrially relevant methods for assessing complexity, namely a data-centric approach using the information theoretic method and a human-centric approach based on surveys and questionnaires. The paper goes onto describe the benefits and shortcomings of each and contributes to the body of knowledge by proposing a holistic framework that combines both assessment methods

The signs and symptoms mentioned in the Literature of Siddha closely resembles with “Rheumatoid Arthiritis” in modern medicine. Totally 40 patients were selected and treated with the trial medicine “NANNARI VER OORAL KUDINEER” 90 ml Thrice a day for 30 days. Reference for trial medicine was taken from Gunapadam Mooligai Vaguppu, Pg.No.562, Dr.K.S.Murugesa Mudaliyar. The trial drug was subjected to biochemical, anti-micribial, phytochemical, pharmacological & toxicological analysis.
