Public perceptions of demand side management and a smarter energy future
Demand side management (DSM) is a key aspect of many future energy system scenarios1,2. DSM refers to a range of technologies and interventions designed to create greater efficiency and flexibility on the demand side of the energy system3. Examples include the provision of more information to users to support efficient behaviour and new βsmartβ technologies that can be automatically controlled. Key stated outcomes of implementing DSM are benefits for consumers, such as cost savings3, 4 and greater control over energy use. Here, we use results from an online survey to examine public perceptions and acceptability of a range of current DSM possibilities in a representative sample of the British population (N = 2441). We show that, whilst cost is likely to be a significant reason for many people to uptake DSM measures, those concerned about energy costs are actually less likely to accept DSM. Notably, individuals concerned about climate change are more likely to be accepting. A significant proportion of people, particularly those concerned about affordability, indicated unwillingness or concerns about sharing energy data, a necessity for many forms of DSM. We conclude substantial public engagement and further policy development is required for widespread DSM implementation
PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION PARTICIPANTS' COMMUNICATIVE TACTICS IN INTERCULTURALISM
The research deals with participants' communicative tactics depending on the dominating type of joint activity. The study is based on the content analysis method, the communicative-diagnostic method; to study the communication process in a professional sphere the questionnaire survey method and the comparative method are used. The work reveals a set of communicative means which are regularly used in practice in a co-consistent type of activity. These means are defined in terms of their belonging to a regular communicative system - communicative technology
Network Communications as a Platform for the Formation of an Inclusive Culture
The article deals with the formation of an inclusive culture in the development of information technology. The main content of the study is the analysis of the survey conducted among people with disabilities β users of social networks. The study concluded that the most used function of Internet communities is entertainment and communication. It was revealed that the majority of respondents prefer to communicate with representatives of their social group. Career Development of Employees with Disabilities in an Organization with an Inclusive Corporate Culture
The article explores career development in an inclusive corporate culture. The aim of the study is to identify social and psychological factors affecting the career development of employees with disabilities in an inclusive environment. The paper uses a theoretical method of research β the analysis of literature on the topic. Formation of the Competence of the Staff of the Organization with an Inclusive Corporate Culture to Interact with Colleagues with Disabilities
This article discusses the concept of inclusive competence, its com-ponents and identifies the degree of formation of this competence in the heads of organizations. The purpose of the study is to identify the components of competence necessary for interaction with employees with disabilities. The study was conducted using the survey method. Chemical enrichment of precious metals in iron sulfides using microwave energy
Magnetic iron sulfide ore particles heat rapidly by microwave (MW) irradiation generating plasma during oxidation of surfaces. The high temperatures produced by the exothermic event decompose local portions of samples forming a differentiated flux of partially melted silicate (si-mt) with entrained metal-sulfide (sul-mt) droplets. The si-mt forms crystals of olivine (Ol) in Ca-rich pyroxene (Cpx) melt that resorbs a portion of iron sulfide (Po). The immiscible sul-mt droplets of (Fe,Ni,Cu)1-xS contain magnetic subsolidus Ni-pyrrhotite (Ni-Po) with Cr-bearing ferrospinel (Mag). Sub-micron sized flecks of Au are found on the surface of a sul-mt droplet with scanning electron microscope (SEM)
