La atención de los estudiantes durante la clase de educación física basada en el rendimiento académico
Attention is an important variable that can dictate the success and failure of an activity or task. This variable is characterized by the ability to direct cognitive resources to a given situation. The purpose of this research was to find patterns in the students’ attention profiles, according to their academic achievement, during the physical education class and in different sports. We used the ATEST-EF questionnaire (Petrica, 2010) in which students had to answer the question «What were you thinking the moment you heard the signal?»
The study involved 156 students from the 3th cycle of basic education, aged between 12 and 16 years old ( = 14,7 ± 1,3) evaluated in four different sports taught in the discipline of physical education (athletics, gymnastics, basketball and football), and in four moments of the class. Considering our variables, we used Chi-Square and Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests. The results show that task attendance holdsthehighestpercentagevalues throughouttheclassinrelationtotheremainingcategories,regardlessoftheiracademicperformance and sport, but we observed that students with satisfactory and good academic performance have more stable values of attention regarding the students with less academic performance. We found statistical significance at the end of the class between students with good academic performance and affective attention, and among students with lower academic performance and attention to other things. Subsequently, we used the same classification to compare the profiles of attention among the four mentioned sports. We observed some patterns between team and individual sports, but did not find statistically differences, however the results suggest a positive relationship between attention and academic performance.La atención es una variable importante que puede dictar el éxito y el fracaso de una actividad o tarea. Esta variable se caracteriza por la capacidad de dirigir recursos cognitivos a una situación dada. El propósito de esta investigación fue encontrar patrones en los perfiles de atención de los estudiantes, de acuerdo con sus logros académicos, durante la clase de educación física y en diferentes deportes. Utilizamos el cuestionario ATEST-EF (Petrica, 2010) en el que los estudiantes tenían que responder la pregunta «Qué estaba
pensando en el momento en que escuchó la señal?» En el estudio participaron 156 estudiantes del tercer ciclo de educación básica, con edades comprendidas entre 12 y 16 años (= 14,7 ± 1,3) evaluados en cuatro deportes diferentes que se imparten en la disciplina de educación física (atletismo, gimnasia, baloncesto y fútbol), y en cuatro momentos de la clase. Considerando nuestras variables, utilizamos las pruebas estadísticas Chi-Square y Kruskal-Wallis. Los resultados muestran que la asistencia a las tareas tiene los valores porcentuales más altos en toda la clase en relación con las categorías restantes, independientemente de su rendimiento académico y deporte, pero observamos que los estudiantes con un rendimiento académico satisfactorio y bueno tienen valores de atención más estables con respecto a los estudiantes con Menos rendimiento académico. Encontramos significación estadística al final de la clase entre estudiantes con buen
rendimiento académico y atención afectiva, y entre estudiantes con bajo rendimiento académico y atención a otras cosas. Posteriormente, utilizamos la misma clasificación para comparar los perfiles de atención entre los cuatro deportes mencionados. Observamos algunos patrones entre el equipo y los deportes individuales, pero no encontramos diferencias estadísticas, sin embargo, los resultados sugieren una relación positiva entre la atención y el rendimiento académico.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
The first detection of Leishmania major in naturally infected Sergentomyia minuta in Portugal
Phlebotomine sandflies of the genus Sergentomyia are widely distributed throughout the Old World. It has been suggested that Sergentomyia spp are involved in the transmission of Leishmania in India and Africa, whereas Phlebotomus spp are thought to be the sole vectors of Leishmania in the Old World. In this study, Leishmania major DNA was detected in one Sergentomyia minuta specimen that was collected in the southern region of Portugal. Leishmania infection and host-blood feeding preferences of phlebotomine sandflies and canine leishmaniasis in an endemic European area, the Algarve Region in Portugal
The Algarve Region (AR) in southern Portugal, which is an international tourist destination, has been considered an endemic region of zoonotic leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania infantum since the 1980s. In the present study, phlebotomine and canine surveys were conducted to identify sandfly blood meal sources and to update the occurrence of Leishmania infection in vectors and dogs. Four sandfly species were captured: Phlebotomus perniciosus, Phlebotomus ariasi, Phlebotomus sergenti and Sergentomyia minuta. In one P. perniciosus female, L. infantum DNA was detected. Blood meal tests showed that this species had no host preferences and was an opportunistic feeder. An overall canine leishmaniasis (CanL) seroprevalence of 16.06% was found; the seroprevalence was 3.88% in dogs housed in kennels and 40.63% in dogs that attended veterinary clinics. The simultaneous occurrence of dogs and P. perniciosus infected with L. infantum in the AR indicates that the region continues to be an endemic area for CanL. Our results reinforce the need for the systematic spatial distribution of phlebotomine populations and their Leishmania infection rates and the need to simultaneously perform pathogen monitoring in both invertebrate and vertebrate hosts to investigate the transmission, distribution and spreading of Leishmania infection.EU/FEDER/FCT [POCI/CVT/56357/2004]; EU [FP7-261504 EDENext (091)]; FCT fellowship [SFRH/BPD/44082/2008]info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Evidence-Based Practice in Knee Osteoarthritis: A Clinical Practice Guideline Proposal for the Portuguese Physical Therapists Context
Uma prática baseada na evidência ajuda a garantir que os pacientes recebem as melhores intervenções para a sua condição. No entanto, nem sempre os pacientes são tratados segundo os conceitos da prática baseada na evidência. Um dos facilitadores para ultrapassar as barreiras relacionadas com a prática baseada na evidência são as clinical practice guidelines (em português, normas de orientação clínicas). As clinical practice guidelines ajudam os clínicos na toma de decisões, fornecendo recomendações/algoritmos para a gestão das condições dos seus pacientes. Apesar da sua importância, não foi encontrado nenhuma clinical practice guideline portuguesa para uma das patologias mais comuns na sociedade: osteoartrose do joelho. Então, o objetivo desta tese é criar uma clinical practice guideline para fisioterapeutas portugueses no tratamento de pacientes com osteoartrose do joelho. Para isso, a tese foi guiada segundo o "modelo Escandinavo" onde foram criados diferentes estudos para responder ao objetivo, nomeadamente: revisão chapéu; revisão sistemática com meta-análise; tradução e validação de um questionário; dois estudos com a implementação de um questionário e a utilização de entrevistas semiestruturadas. Conclui-se que, para o contexto português, as intervenções nível 1 são: Nutrição/Perda de peso; Educação/Autocuidado; e Exercícios Resistidos. Se houver necessidade, a estas intervenções pode ser adicionado: Exercícios em Meio Aquático; Terapia Manual; e/ou Alongamentos. Na falência destas intervenções, pode-se utilizar as intervenções do nível 2: Exercícios Aeróbios; Exercícios de Equilíbrio; Termoterapia; e/ou Auxiliares de Marcha. Quando estas intervenções também não respondem às necessidades do paciente, pode-se adicionar as intervenções nível 3: Eletroterapia; Kinesio Tape; e/ou Ultrassom. Adicionalmente, os fisioterapeutas portugueses reconhecem a importância de uma prática baseada na evidência e, sempre que possível, utilizam clinical practice guidelines na sua prática clínica diária.

However, patients are not always treated according to evidence-based practice concepts. One of the facilitators to overcome the barriers related to evidence-based practice are the clinical practice guidelines. Clinical practice guidelines help clinicians make clinical decisions, by providing recommendations/algorithms for managing their patients. Despite its importance, no Portuguese clinical practice guideline was found for one of the most common pathologies in the society: knee osteoarthritis. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to create a clinical practice guideline for Portuguese physical therapists to manage knee osteoarthritis patients. Thus, this thesis was guided according to the "Scandinavian model", where different studies performed according to the objective, such as: umbrella review; systematic review and meta-analysis; questionnaire translation and validation; two studies with the implementation of a questionnaire and the use of semi-structured interviews. It could be concluded that, for the Portuguese context, the "core" interventions are Nutrition/Weight Loss, Self-Care/Education and Resistance Exercises. If necessary, the following interventions can be added: Aquatic Exercises; Manual Therapy; and/or Stretching. When these interventions fail, the "silver" interventions that can be used are: Aerobic Exercises; Balance Exercises; Thermotherapy; and/or Walking Aids. When these interventions do not respond to the patient's needs neither, "bronze" interventions can be added, namely: Electrotherapy; Kinesio Tape; and/or Ultrasound. Additionally, it was found that Portuguese physical therapists recognize the importance of an evidence-based practice and, whenever possible, use clinical practice guidelines in their daily clinical practice

An annotated list of Symmachia Hübner, [1819] (Lepidoptera: Riodinidae: Symmachiini) from Parque Nacional da Serra do Divisor, Acre, Brazil, with the description of a new species
We provide an illustrated list of species belonging to the genus Symmachia Hübner, [1819] (Lepidoptera: Riodinidae: Symmachiini) collected during an expedition conducted between September 10-21, 2011 in the northern part of the Parque Nacional da Serra do Divisor, Acre, Brazil, a remote region of Amazon rainforest. A total of 46 individuals were collected belonging to 15 species. For all recorded species, drawings of male genitalia and behavioral information are provided to support future studies on the taxonomy of the group. A new species, Symmachia divisora Dolibaina and Leite, sp. nov., is described, and a revised status for Symmachia hetaerina hesione Stichel, 1910, stat. rev., is proposed.Fornecemos a lista ilustrada das espécies pertencentes ao gênero Symmachia Hübner, [1819] (Lepidoptera: Riodinidae: Symmachiini) coletadas durante uma expedição entre os dias 10-21 de setembro de 2011 na porção norte do Parque Nacional da Serra do Divisor, Acre, Brasil, uma remota região de Floresta Amazônica. Ao total foram coletados 46 indivíduos pertencentes a 15 espécies. Para todas as espécies registradas são fornecidos desenhos da genitália masculina e informações de comportamento, com a finalidade de subsidiar futuros trabalhos sobre a taxonomia do grupo. Uma nova espécie, Symmachia divisora Dolibaina and Leite, sp. nov., é descrita, assim como é proposto um status revalidado para Symmachia hetaerina hesione Stichel, 1910, stat. rev.

[Resumen] En este artículo procuramos hacer una
reflexión profundizada relativa a las temáticas
de la Calidad de Vida (CV) en Pacientes con
Enfermedad Vascular Cerebral (EVC).
La EVC se refiere a cualquier disfunción
cerebral, producto de un proceso patológico
que envuelva los vasos sanguíneos, e es presentada
como una de las principales causas de
muerte o incapacidad pos-accidente.
La necesidad de una adecuada evaluación
de aspectos como la Calidad de Vida es fundamental
para un plano de rehabilitación
adaptado a cada enfermo.
En este artículo presentamos algunas de
las propuestas más utilizadas en nuestros

Intervenção cognitivo-comportamental na perturbação do comportamento: estudo de caso numa intervenção clínico-escolar
[Resumo] Neste artigo apresentamos de forma estruturada
o caso de urna criança com Perturbação
do Comportamento, e respectivo acompanhamento
clínico-escolar. É dado relevo anecessidade
de coordenação entre o acompanhamento
psicoterapeutico, a intervenção junto a
comunidade escolar e aos familares. Para além
do interesse clínico, este artigo tem também
um fim académico-pedagógico. Por um lado,
permite partilhar dados clínicos com profissionais
da área clínica e educacional, por outro,
apoiar os alunos e futuros profissionais no processo
de aprendizagem, nomeadamente, na
aplicação de conteúdos teórico-científicos ao
comportamento humano. Assim, começamos
por descrever a problemática evidenciada pela
criança, ressaltando os aspectos centrais para a
compreensao do caso. Posteriormente, discorremos
acerca do processo de intervenção, a
luz do modelo cognitivo-comportamental e
realizamos urna referencia ao período pósintervenção, para avaliação en follow-up do
