Third quantization: a general method to solve master equations for quadratic open Fermi systems
The Lindblad master equation for an arbitrary quadratic system of n fermions
is solved explicitly in terms of diagonalization of a 4n x 4n matrix, provided
that all Lindblad bath operators are linear in the fermionic variables. The
method is applied to the explicit construction of non-equilibrium steady states
and the calculation of asymptotic relaxation rates in the far from equilibrium
problem of heat and spin transport in a nearest neighbor Heisenberg XY spin 1/2

Scaling near Quantum Chaos Border in Interacting Fermi Systems
The emergence of quantum chaos for interacting Fermi systems is investigated
by numerical calculation of the level spacing distribution as function
of interaction strength and the excitation energy above the
Fermi level. As increases, undergoes a transition from Poissonian
(nonchaotic) to Wigner-Dyson (chaotic) statistics and the transition is
described by a single scaling parameter given by , where is a constant. While the exponent ,
which determines the global change of the chaos border, is indecisive within a
broad range of , finite value of , which comes from the
increase of the Fock space size with , suggests that the transition

Stochastic dynamics and control of a driven nonlinear spin chain: the role of Arnold diffusion
We study a chain of non-linear, interacting spins driven by a static and a
time-dependent magnetic field. The aim is to identify the conditions for the
locally and temporally controlled spin switching. Analytical and full numerical
calculations show the possibility of stochastic control if the underlying
semi-classical dynamics is chaotic. This is achievable by tuning the external
field parameters according to the method described in this paper. We show
analytically for a finite spin chain that Arnold diffusion is the underlying
mechanism for the present stochastic control. Quantum mechanically we consider
the regime where the classical dynamics is regular or chaotic. For the latter
we utilize the random matrix theory. The efficiency and the stability of the
non-equilibrium quantum spin-states are quantified by the time-dependence of
the Bargmann angle related to the geometric phases of the states.Comment: Journal-ref: to appear in J.Phys.
Multiple agency perspective, family control, and private information abuse in an emerging economy
Using a comprehensive sample of listed companies in Hong Kong this paper investigates how family control affects private information abuses and firm performance in emerging economies. We combine research on stock market microstructure with more recent studies of multiple agency perspectives and argue that family ownership and control over the board increases the risk of private information abuse. This, in turn, has a negative impact on stock market performance. Family control is associated with an incentive to distort information disclosure to minority shareholders and obtain private benefits of control. However, the multiple agency roles of controlling families may have different governance properties in terms of investors’ perceptions of private information abuse. The Current State of Performance Appraisal Research and Practice: Concerns, Directions, and Implications
On the surface, it is not readily apparent how some performance appraisal research issues inform performance appraisal practice. Because performance appraisal is an applied topic, it is useful to periodically consider the current state of performance research and its relation to performance appraisal practice. This review examines the performance appraisal literature published in both academic and practitioner outlets between 1985 and 1990, briefly discusses the current state of performance appraisal practice, highlights the juxtaposition of research and practice, and suggests directions for further research
TRIM2, a novel member of the antiviral family, limits New World arenavirus entry
Tripartite motif (TRIM) proteins belong to a large family with many roles in host biology, including restricting virus infection. Here, we found that TRIM2, which has been implicated in cases of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMTD) in humans, acts by blocking hemorrhagic fever New World arenavirus (NWA) entry into cells. We show that Trim2-knockout mice, as well as primary fibroblasts from a CMTD patient with mutations in TRIM2, are more highly infected by the NWAs Junin and Tacaribe virus than wild-type mice or cells are. Using mice with different Trim2 gene deletions and TRIM2 mutant constructs, we demonstrate that its antiviral activity is uniquely independent of the RING domain encoding ubiquitin ligase activity. Finally, we show that one member of the TRIM2 interactome, signal regulatory protein alpha (SIRPA), a known inhibitor of phagocytosis, also restricts NWA infection and conversely that TRIM2 limits phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. In addition to demonstrating a novel antiviral mechanism for TRIM proteins, these studies suggest that the NWA entry and phagocytosis pathways overlap.Peer reviewe
Signaling in Secret: Pay-for-Performance and the Incentive and Sorting Effects of Pay Secrecy
Key Findings: Pay secrecy adversely impacts individual task performance because it weakens the perception that an increase in performance will be accompanied by increase in pay; Pay secrecy is associated with a decrease in employee performance and retention in pay-for-performance systems, which measure performance using relative (i.e., peer-ranked) criteria rather than an absolute scale (see Figure 2 on page 5); High performing employees tend to be most sensitive to negative pay-for- performance perceptions; There are many signals embedded within HR policies and practices, which can influence employees’ perception of workplace uncertainty/inequity and impact their performance and turnover intentions; and When pay transparency is impractical, organizations may benefit from introducing partial pay openness to mitigate these effects on employee performance and retention
Chaos and Complexity of quantum motion
The problem of characterizing complexity of quantum dynamics - in particular
of locally interacting chains of quantum particles - will be reviewed and
discussed from several different perspectives: (i) stability of motion against
external perturbations and decoherence, (ii) efficiency of quantum simulation
in terms of classical computation and entanglement production in operator
spaces, (iii) quantum transport, relaxation to equilibrium and quantum mixing,
and (iv) computation of quantum dynamical entropies. Discussions of all these
criteria will be confronted with the established criteria of integrability or
quantum chaos, and sometimes quite surprising conclusions are found. Some
conjectures and interesting open problems in ergodic theory of the quantum many

Experts' Judgments of Management Journal Quality:An Identity Concerns Model
Many lists that purport to gauge the quality of journals in management and organization studies (MOS) are based on the judgments of experts in the field. This article develops an identity concerns model (ICM) that suggests that such judgments are likely to be shaped by the personal and social identities of evaluators. The model was tested in a study in which 168 editorial board members rated 44 MOS journals. In line with the ICM, respondents rated journal quality more highly to the extent that a given journal reflected their personal concerns (associated with having published more articles in that journal) and the concerns of a relevant ingroup (associated with membership of the journal’s editorial board or a particular disciplinary or geographical background). However, judges’ ratings of journals in which they had published were more favorable when those journals had a low-quality reputation, and their ratings of journals that reflected their geographical and disciplinary affiliations were more favorable when those journals had a high-quality reputation. The findings are thus consistent with the view that identity concerns come to the fore in journal ratings when there is either a need to protect against personal identity threat or a meaningful opportunity to promote social identity
