Modes of Experience: Everyday Aesthetics Between Erlebnis, Erfahrung, and Lebenswelt
This paper focuses on the notion of experience, whose conceptual analysis seems to be often neglected or at least not sufficiently made explicit in the current discourse on Everyday Aesthetics. In our investigation this notion will be tackled, in particular, through the lens of such concepts as Erlebnis, Erfahrung, and Lebenswelt, which are drawn from the continental philosophical tradition. Purpose of the paper is to present a provisional framework aimed at clarifying that a more accurate conceptualization of experience allows for a better contemporary reflection on the aesthetics of everyday life
Presentazione
The first Aisthesisâs Special Issue collects the contributions to the conference âRiconcepire lâestetica. Prospettive a confrontâ that have been held in Florence in February 2012, organized by âAisthesisâ, âRivista di Esteticaâ and âSeminario permanente di esteticaâ(SPES) in the perspective to contribute to a radical reconfiguration of conceptual domain of aesthetics
On Deweyâs Trail
This papers aims at showing how Deweyâs legacy can contribute to better understand the correlation between the problem of meaning and the description of the aesthetic in the framework of a specifically enactivist approach to the model of the extended mind. My thesis is that Deweyâs characterization of this issue has a general theoretical import in that it makes it inappropriate to speak of âaesthetic meanings,â or even of âmeanings of the aesthetic.â It instead highlights the aesthetic character of meaning as such, that is, how an experiential phenomenon can be meaningful insofar as it is characterized in an aesthetic sense. Accordingly, we will speak here of âaesthetic meaningfulness.â To this extent, after a comparison between Dewey and Quine about the âpraxis of meaning,â a dialogue will be established with two recent perspectives openly informed by Deweyâs work: Mark Johnson and Shaun Gallagherâs

L'utopia dell'estetico in Adorno
Itâs a matter of fact that images are not taken for signs. Therefore there must be some intrinsic peculiarity, which allows them to convey a content but, in the same breath, prevents them from collapsing into mere semiotic structures. Such a feature could lie in a sort of âsemblance grammarâ, which gives off the perceptual potential of images, and reveals itself in the experience before any determination of an ontological status. Itâs in the way the image appears that the power of the image to articulate fruitfully a thought manifests itself
The aesthetic field: Arnold Berleant's philosophy as a new understanding of experience
The essay aims to identify the original matrix of Berleantâs aesthetic thought by deepening his initial research on the notion of âfieldâ. Berleant analyzes the âaesthetic fieldâ by considering it as a dynamic texture that stands outside the dualisms that have characterized modern philosophy. At the core of this analysis is the fruitful convergence between different traditions from which Berleant draws for laying out his philosophical program. In particular, if phenomenology leads him to thematize the connection between experience and judgment, pragmatism leads him to establish the cornerstone of the experiential (and above all perceptual) character of the aesthetic as such. Thanks to this, the perspective developed by Berleant since the seventies of the twentieth century still proves to be largely vital, as it is capable of delineating an anthropological horizon centered on the analysis of the âenvironmentalâ practices of the so-called âaesthetic engagementâ
Paglia micronizzata e fertilizzante organico quali supporti alimentari nell'allevamento di Daphnia obtusa
Experimental results from a culture of a microcrustacean, Daphnia obtusa Kurz emend. Scourfleld (Cladocerans), are presented. The experiments have been realized at an aquaculture farm using the thermal discharge of a thermoelectic power plant, in tanks whose volume was suitable for a production of biomass consistent with the needs of a small size fry farm.
Two different feeding combinations have been supplied with
standard concentrations of algal cells integrated by cellulose and organic fertilizer respectively.
Numerical production from data of population density has been used to determine the relative efficiencies of the different feeding combinations, while the remaining estimated population parameters have been reserved to characterize the density fluctuations of the population
