    Application of Computer Simulation to Study the Features of the Austenite Isothermal Transformation in Steels

    An algorithm was developed for the simulation of a phase transition in solid state which makes it possible to obtain the kinetic curves of transformation under different initial conditions (the number and arrangement of new phase nuclei, the distance between the nearest nuclei). The simulation results were analyzed using the KolmogorovJohnson-Mehl-Avrami equation and the corresponding coefficients were determined.     Electric field gradients in MgB2_2 synthesized at high pressure: 111^111Cd TDPAC study and ab initio calculation

    We report the high-pressure synthesis of novel superconductor MgB2_2 and some related compounds. The superconducting transition temperature of our samples of MgB2_2 is equal to 36.6 K. The MgB2_2 lattice parameters determined via X-ray diffraction are in excellent agreement with results of our ab initio calculations. The time-differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) experiments demonstrate a small increase in quadrupole frequency of 111^111Cd probe with decreasing temperature from 293 to 4.2 K. The electric field gradient (EFG) at the B site calculated from first principles is in fair agreement with EFG obtained from 11^11B NMR spectra of MgB2_2 reported in the literature. It is also very close to EFG found in our 111^111Cd TDPAC measurements, which suggests that the 111^111Cd probe substitutes for boron in the MgB2_2 lattice.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure

    Probing CP Violation with the Deuteron Electric Dipole Moment

    We present an analysis of the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the deuteron as induced by CP-violating operators of dimension 4, 5 and 6 including theta QCD, the EDMs and color EDMs of quarks, four-quark interactions and the Weinberg operator. We demonstrate that the precision goal of the EDM Collaboration's proposal to search for the deuteron EDM, (1-3)\times 10^{-27} e cm, will provide an improvement in sensitivity to these sources of one-two orders of magnitude relative to the existing bounds.     Background: Tissue-engineered trachea transplantation remains the last chance for a variety of patients suffering from severe cicatricial tracheal stenosis. Despite the series of carried studies, the final solution hasn’t been found. Creating a functionally complete hyaline cartilage graft in vitro still presents a fundamental problem, and a number of researchers consider it as the key to a successful tracheal tissue-engineering.Aims: The study aimed to investigate the capability of detergent complex and DNAse I for human tracheal cartilage decellularization in short-time exposition for acellular scaffold obtaining.Materials and methods: Isolated from cadaveric trachea human native cartilage was used for decellularization by ensimatic-detergent complex including Triton X-100, DMSO, and DNAse I. The scaffold was characterised by histological examinations, analysis of the residual DNA content, and cell metabolic activity colorimetric test with culture in the scaffold fragments.Results: The obtained scaffolds presented highly porous structure mostly composed of collagen and glycosaminoglycans with an insignificant residual DNA level, absence of citotoxicity, and capability for cell proliferative activity stimulation.Conclusions: Thus, the study provides a new short-time technology for hyaline cartilage decellularization in order to achieve acellular scaffolds in step with the tissue engineering requirements.ОбоснованиС.     Marginal Pinning of Quenched Random Polymers

    An elastic string embedded in 3D space and subject to a short-range correlated random potential exhibits marginal pinning at high temperatures, with the pinning length Lc(T)L_c(T) becoming exponentially sensitive to temperature. Using a functional renormalization group (FRG) approach we find Lc(T)∝exp⁑[(32/Ο€)(T/Tdp)3]L_c(T) \propto \exp[(32/\pi)(T/T_{\rm dp})^3], with TdpT_{\rm dp} the depinning temperature. A slow decay of disorder correlations as it appears in the problem of flux line pinning in superconductors modifies this result, ln⁑Lc(T)∝T3/2\ln L_c(T)\propto T^{3/2}.Comment: 4 pages, RevTeX, 1 figure inserte
