    Conductivity and entanglement entropy of high dimensional holographic superconductors

    We investigate the dependence of the conductivity and the entanglement entropy on the space-time dimensionality dd in two holographic superconductors: one dual to a quantum critical point with spontaneous symmetry breaking, and the other modeled by a charged scalar that condenses at a sufficiently low temperature in the presence of a Maxwell field. In both cases the gravity background is asymptotically Anti de Sitter (AdS). In the large dd limit we obtain explicit analytical results for the conductivity at zero temperature and the entanglement entropy by a 1/d1/d expansion. We show that the entanglement entropy is always smaller in the broken phase. As dimensionality increases, the entanglement entropy decreases, the coherence peak in the conductivity becomes narrower and the ratio between the energy gap and the critical temperature decreases. These results suggest that the condensate interactions become weaker in high spatial dimensions.Comment: 38 pages, 7 figure

    Among the benefits which vacuum impregnation (VI) may provide to fruits and vegetables, this study focused on weight and texture changes during the processing of table olives. VI applied to Manzanilla olives led to around 10% weight gain, which was maintained after their packing as black olives. However, this weight gain was only around 4 % for Hojiblanca olives. Likewise, the use of calcium chloride was recommended to maintain the firmness of the olives, in particular those of the softer Manzanilla cultivar. With regard to the Spanish-style, the Hojiblanca cultivar achieved around 4% weight gain during processing but the use of VI for Manzanilla olives was ruled out due to softening of the fruit. In addition. the black and green color of olives and their flavor were not modified by the application of VI. This technology could be very useful to reduce weight loss during table olive processing.Entre los beneficios que la aplicación de la impregnación al vacío puede originar en frutas y verduras, este estudio se ha centrado sobre los cambios en la textura y el peso de las aceitunas de mesa durante su procesamiento. La impregnación al vacío de aceitunas Manzanilla dio lugar a un aumento cercano al 10 % de peso y ello se mantuvo después de su envasado como aceitunas negras, mientras que esta ganancia fue de sólo el 4& para aceitunas Hojiblanca. Asimismo, se vio necesario el empleo de cloruro cálcico para el mantenimiento de la textura de los frutos, en particular para aquellos de la variedad Manzanilla. Con respecto al procesamiento como verdes estilo español, la variedad Hojiblanca consiguió un aumento del 4% en peso debido al empleo de impregnación al vacío y este tratamiento se descartó para la Manzanilla debido al ablandamiento de la aceituna. Además, se debe indicar que el color verde y negro de las aceitunas no se vio afectado por el hecho de emplear impregnación al vacío. Esta tecnología podría ser muy útil para reducir las pérdidas de peso que se producen durante la elaboración de aceitunas de mesa

    [Resumen] Se realiza el estudio de dos perfiles de meteorizaci6n sobre granodioritas en Galicia (NW de España). El grado de drenaje condiciona la evolución de los feldespatos: en la saprolita de grano más grueso, con grandes fisuras, se transforman en gibbsita, en la de grano más fino este mineral aparece en las primeras etapas pero el producto final es halloysita. Las micas evolucionan en ambos casos hacia vermiculitas hidroxialumínicas.[Abstract] Two weathering profiles developed from granodiorites in Galicia (NW of Spain) are studied. The drainage degree determines the feldspars evolution. In the coarse grain saprolite, with great fissures, feldspars are transformed into gibbsite, while in the finer grain saprolite, the weathering product is halloysite.     [Resumen] Se ha determinado la cristalinidad de micas y filosilicatos 1: 1 dioctaédricos de los limos y arcillas de 20 perfiles edáficos desarrollados sobre rocas graníticas. Se observa una estrecha relación entre el valor del índice de cristalinidad de los filosilicatos 2: 1, el tipo de mica predominante en el material de partida y el grado de desarrollo de los suelos; la menor cristalinidad aparece asociada a suelos formados a partir de materiales en los que la biotita es la única mica presente o la predominante. Los estudios de D. R. X., A. T. D. e 1. R. coinciden en señalar el predominio de filosicitatos 1: 1 de muy débil organización interna, comprobándose por microscopía electrónica que son fundamentalmente de tipo halloysítico[Abstract] Micas and dioctaedric 1: 1 phyllosilicate crystallinity of loam and clay fractions of twenty soil profiles developed from granite rocks have been determined. There are a clear relation among the cystallinity index of 2: 1 phyllosilicate, the prevailing type of mica in the soil-parent material and the soil evolution degree. Cystallinity is the lowest when soils are formed from granitic material when the most abundant mica is the biotite.     More than a magazine: exploring the links between lads’ mags, rape myth acceptance and rape proclivity

    Exposure to some magazines aimed at young male readers – lads’ mags – has recently been associated with behaviors and attitudes that are derogatory towards women, including sexual violence. In the present study, a group of Spanish adult men were exposed to the covers of a lads’ mag while a second group was exposed to the covers of a neutral magazine. Results showed that, compared to participants in the second group, participants who were exposed to covers of lads’ mags who also showed high rape myth acceptance (RMA) and legitimized the consumption of such magazines reported higher rape proclivity in a hypothetical situation. These findings suggest the need to further explore the possible detrimental effects of some sexualized media that are widely accepted in many Western countries
