Radial flow afterburner for event generators and the baryon puzzle
A simple afterburner including radial flow to the randomized transverse
momentum obtained from event generators, Pythia and Hijing, has been
implemented to calculate the ratios and compare them with available
data. A coherent trend of qualitative agreement has been obtained in
collisions and in for various centralities. Those results indicate that
the radial flow does play an important role in the so called baryon puzzle

Leading Effects in Hadroproductions of Lambda_c and D From Constituent Quark-Diquark Cascade Picture
We discuss the hadroproductions of Lambda_c, Lambda_c bar, D and D bar in the
framework of the constituent quark-diquark cascade model taking into account
the valence quark annihilation. The spectra of Lambda_c and Lambda_c bar in pA,
Sigma^-A and pi^-A collisions are well explained by the model using the values
of parameters used in hadroproductions of D and D bar. It is shown that the
role of valence diquark in the incident baryon is important for D bar

Symbolic analysis of analog circuits containing voltage mirrors
7 páginas, 7 figuras, 2 tablas, 4 imágenes.-- Open Access: This article is distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Noncommercial License.The pathological elements voltage mirror (VM) and current mirror (CM) have shown advantages in analog behavioral modeling and circuit synthesis, where many nullor-mirror equivalences have been explored to design and to transform voltage-mode circuits to current-mode ones and viceversa. However, both the VM and CM have not equivalents to perform automatic symbolic circuit analysis. In this manner, we introduce nullor-equivalents for these pathological elements allowing to include parasitics and to perform only symbolic nodal analysis. The nullor-equivalent of the CM is extended to provide multiple-outpus (MO-CM). Lambda^0 polarization as a probe for production of deconfined matter in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions
We study the polarization change of Lambda^0's produced in ultra-relativistic
heavy-ion collisions with respect to the polarization observed in proton-proton
collisions as a signal for the formation of a Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP).
Assuming that, when the density of participants in the collision is larger than
the critical density for QGP formation, the Lambda^0 production mechanism
changes from recombination type processes to the coalescence of free valence
quarks, we find that the Lambda^0 polarization depends on the relative
contribution of each process to the total number of Lambda^0's produced in the
collision. To describe the polarization of Lambda^0's in nuclear collisions for
densities below the critical density for the QGP formation, we use the
DeGrand-Miettinen model corrected for the effects introduced by multiple
scattering of the produced Lambda^0 within the nuclear environment.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, uses ReVTeX and epsfig.st
VHMPID: a new detector for the ALICE experiment at LHC
This article presents the basic idea of VHMPID, an upgrade detector for the
ALICE experiment at LHC, CERN. The main goal of this detector is to extend the
particle identification capabilities of ALICE to give more insight into the
evolution of the hot and dense matter created in Pb-Pb collisions. Starting
from the physics motivations and working principles the challenges and current

A High Statistics Measurement of the Lambdac+ Lifetime
A high statistics measurement of the Lambdac+ lifetime from the Fermilab
fixed-target FOCUS photoproduction experiment is presented. We describe the
analysis technique with particular attention to the determination of the
systematic uncertainty. The measured value of 204.6 +/- 3.4 (stat.) +/- 2.5
(syst.) fs from 8034 +/- 122 Lambdac -> pKpi decays represents a significant
improvement over the present world average.Comment: Submitted to Physical Review Letter
A Measurement of the Ds+ Lifetime
A high statistics measurement of the Ds+ lifetime from the Fermilab
fixed-target FOCUS photoproduction experiment is presented. We describe the
analysis of the two decay modes, Ds+ -> phi(1020)pi+ and Ds+ ->
\bar{K}*(892)0K+, used for the measurement. The measured lifetime is 507.4 +/-
5.5 (stat.) +/- 5.1 (syst.) fs using 8961 +/- 105 Ds+ -> phi(1020)pi+ and 4680
+/- 90 Ds+ -> \bar{K}*(892)0K+ decays. This is a significant improvement over

Measurements of Branching Ratios
Using data collected by the fixed target Fermilab experiment FOCUS, we
measure the branching ratios of the Cabibbo favored decays , , and relative to to be
, , and ,
respectively. We report the first observation of the Cabibbo suppressed decay
and we measure the branching ratio relative to
to be . We also set 90%
confidence level upper limits for and relative to to
be 0.12 and 0.05, respectively. We find an indication of the decays and and set
90% confidence level upper limits for the branching ratios with respect to
to be 0.12 and 1.72, respectively. Finally, we
determine the 90% C.L. upper limit for the resonant contribution relative to to be 0.10.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure
Dalitz plot analysis of D_s+ and D+ decay to pi+pi-pi+ using the K-matrix formalism
FOCUS results from Dalitz plot analysis of D_s+ and D+ to pi+pi-pi+ are
presented. The K-matrix formalism is applied to charm decays for the first time
to fully exploit the already existing knowledge coming from the light-meson
spectroscopy experiments. In particular all the measured dynamics of the S-wave
pipi scattering, characterized by broad/overlapping resonances and large
non-resonant background, can be properly included. This paper studies the
extent to which the K-matrix approach is able to reproduce the observed Dalitz
plot and thus help us to understand the underlying dynamics. The results are
discussed, along with their possible implications on the controversial nature
