    Antenatal self-hypnosis for labour and childbirth: A pilot study

    Publisher's copy made available with the permission of the publisher © Australian Society of AnaesthetistsIn our institution we have used antenatal training in self-hypnosis for over three years as a tool to provide relaxation, anxiolysis and analgesia for women in labour. To assess the effects of hypnotherapy, we prospectively collected data related to the use of hypnosis in preparation for childbirth, and compared the birth outcomes of women experiencing antenatal hypnosis with parity and gestational age matched controls. Methods: Prospective data about women taught self-hypnosis in preparation for childbirth were collected between August 2002 and August 2004. Birth outcome data of women using hypnosis were compared with routinely collected retrospective data from parity and gestational age matched women delivering after 37 weeks gestation during 2003. Results: Seventy-seven antenatal women consecutively taught self-hypnosis in preparation for childbirth were compared with 3,249 parity and gestational age matched controls. Of the women taught antenatal self-hypnosis, nulliparous parturients used fewer epidurals: 36% (18/50) compared with 53% (765/1436) of controls (RR 0.68 [95% CI 0.47-0.98]); and required less augmentation: 18% (9/50) vs 36% (523/1436) (RR 0.48 [95%CI 0.27-0.90]). Conclusions: Our clinical findings are consistent with recent meta-analyses showing beneficial outcomes associated with the use of hypnosis in childbirth.     Functional neuroanatomy underlying the clinical subcategorization of minimally conscious state patients.

    Patients in a minimally conscious state (MCS) show restricted signs of awareness but are unable to communicate. We assessed cerebral glucose metabolism in MCS patients and tested the hypothesis that this entity can be subcategorized into MCS- (i.e., patients only showing nonreflex behavior such as visual pursuit, localization of noxious stimulation and/or contingent behavior) and MCS+ (i.e., patients showing command following).Patterns of cerebral glucose metabolism were studied using [(18)F]-fluorodeoxyglucose-PET in 39 healthy volunteers (aged 46 +/- 18 years) and 27 MCS patients of whom 13 were MCS- (aged 49 +/- 19 years; 4 traumatic; 21 +/- 23 months post injury) and 14 MCS+ (aged 43 +/- 19 years; 5 traumatic; 19 +/- 26 months post injury). Results were thresholded for significance at false discovery rate corrected p < 0.05.We observed a metabolic impairment in a bilateral subcortical (thalamus and caudate) and cortical (fronto-temporo-parietal) network in nontraumatic and traumatic MCS patients. Compared to MCS-, patients in MCS+ showed higher cerebral metabolism in left-sided cortical areas encompassing the language network, premotor, presupplementary motor, and sensorimotor cortices. A functional connectivity study showed that Broca's region was disconnected from the rest of the language network, mesiofrontal and cerebellar areas in MCS- as compared to MCS+ patients.The proposed subcategorization of MCS based on the presence or absence of command following showed a different functional neuroanatomy. MCS- is characterized by preserved right hemispheric cortical metabolism interpreted as evidence of residual sensory consciousness. MCS+ patients showed preserved metabolism and functional connectivity in language networks arguably reflecting some additional higher order or extended consciousness albeit devoid of clinical verbal or nonverbal expression

    Cílem bakalářské práce je návrh konstrukce administrativní budovy. Budova má obdelníkový půdorys o rozměrech 32x21 m. Zastřešení nad 3.NP je tvořeno dřevěnou konstrukcí, kde hlavním nosným prvkem je plnostěnný nosník s rozpětím 12 m. V úrovni 3.NP se nachází terasa, která je navržena jako vegetační střecha. Nosná konstrukce stavby je navržena z oceli a stropy zde tvoří železobetonová deska. Statické řešení bylo provedeno v programu Scia Engineer 17.1.The topic of this bachelor´s thesis is a design of construction of an office building. The building´s floor plan has a rectangle shape with a dimension 32x21 metres. The roofing above the third floor is made of timber structure where the main load-bearing element is a glue laminated timber beam. The terrace, which is placed in the third floor, is designed as a green roof. The load-bearing structure of the building is designed of steel and the ceiling consists of steel concrete slab. The statics solution was implemented using the Scia Engineer 17.1 software.

    Eksploatacijsko-tehničke značajke cestovnih teretnih vozila za izvanredni prijevoz važna su značajka prilikom odabira transportnog sredstva koje se koristi u određenom transportu. Radi premašivanja propisanih dimenzija ili ukupne mase izvanredni prijevoz može se izvršiti na temelju dozvole. Da bi njegovo izvođenje bilo uspješno potrebno je uskladiti veliki broj uključenih supstrata. U ovom završnom radu definiran je pojam izvanrednog prijevoza te su prikazane eksploatacijsko-tehničke značajke cestovnih vozila namijenjenih za izvanredni prijevoz kao i sva potrebna dokumentacija.Exploatational-technical characteristics of road freight vehicles for special transport are important characteristics for picking a transport vehicle that will be used in a particular transport.
