    Evaluation of Power Quality Issues in grid Connected PV Systems

    This paper deals with the evaluation of power quality issues in grid connected PV systems. This paper also presents  complete simulation, modeling and control of three phase grid connected solar PV module with Maximum Power Point Tracking. Perturb and Observe (P&O) method has been used for Maximum Power Point Tracking. In the proposed model DC bus voltage control , harmonic mitigation and power factor control are discussed as power quality issues. The simulation results are shown in the graphical waveforms and simulation is performed in MATLAB using SIMULINK environment and PSB toolboxes.

    open access journalPeople with type 1 diabetes must use insulin and a large fraction of those with type 2 condition also do so. Many therefore struggle with the unpredictable balancing of insulin dose with calorie intake and utility. A healthy pancreas makes meticulous adjustment on a continuous basis that present therapeutic insulin administration cannot match. However, much progress has been made to make it simpler to inject both background and fast-acting boost insulins with a view to better mimicking normal pancreatic output. The present fast insulins are reviewed with accent on the primary amino acid structures of the biosynthetic types that diffuse more quickly than regular insulin that associates in hexamers. This makes boost doses kinetically and clinically more effective, allowing people to inject better estimated boost and corrective doses. Formulation advances are discussed for their present and potential contributions. The newer slow-acting insulins are also described and compared, their advantage also being kinetic with a lower likelihood of inducing overnight hypoglycaemia when used optimally. Finally, the appreciation of the advantages of alternative routes of administration such as oral and peritoneal are included in this review because of the possibility of altering the hepatic to peripheral ratio, the reasons for which are more effective but less obesogenic insulin activity. The logistics of oral insulin are summarised in terms of the risks to the insulin structure, the facilitation of paracellular uptake at the apical surface and the paradoxically advantageous hepatic first pass.     ccPDB: compilation and creation of data sets from Protein Data Bank

    ccPDB (http://crdd.osdd.net/raghava/ccpdb/) is a database of data sets compiled from the literature and Protein Data Bank (PDB). First, we collected and compiled data sets from the literature used for developing bioinformatics methods to annotate the structure and function of proteins. Second, data sets were derived from the latest release of PDB using standard protocols. Third, we developed a powerful module for creating a wide range of customized data sets from the current release of PDB. This is a flexible module that allows users to create data sets using a simple six step procedure. In addition, a number of web services have been integrated in ccPDB, which include submission of jobs on PDB-based servers, annotation of protein structures and generation of patterns. This database maintains >30 types of data sets such as secondary structure, tight-turns, nucleotide interacting residues, metals interacting residues, DNA/RNA binding residues and so on

    Neutrino nucleus cross sections

    We present the results of our calculation which has been performed to study the nuclear effects in the quasielastic, inelastic and deep inelastic scattering of neutrinos(antineutrinos) from nuclear targets. These calculations are done in the local density approximation. We take into account the effect of Pauli blocking, Fermi motion, Coulomb effect, renormalization of weak transition strengths in the nuclear medium in the case of the quasielastic reaction. The inelastic reaction leading to production of pions is calculated in a Δ\Delta - dominance model taking into account the renormalization of Δ\Delta properties in the nuclear medium and the final state interaction effects of the outgoing pions with the residual nucleus. We discuss the nuclear effects in the F3A(x)F_{3}^{A}(x) structure function in the deep inelastic neutrino(antineutrino) reaction using a relativistic framework to describe the nucleon spectral function in the nucleus.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, Presented at 4th DAE-BRNS Workshop on Hadron Physics, AMU, Aligarh, India, 18-23 Feb 200

    KamLAND Bounds on Solar Antineutrinos and neutrino transition magnetic moments

    We investigate the possibility of detecting solar electron antineutrinos with the KamLAND experiment. These electron antineutrinos are predicted by spin-flavor oscillations at a significant rate even if this mechanism is not the leading solution to the SNP. KamLAND is sensitive to antineutrinos originated from solar 8{}^8B neutrinos. From KamLAND negative results after 145 days of data taking, we obtain model independent limits on the total flux of solar electron antineutrinos $\Phi({}^8 B)< 1.1-3.5\times 10^4 cm^{-2}\ s^{-1},morethanoneorderofmagnitudesmallerthanexistinglimits,andontheirappearanceprobability, more than one order of magnitude smaller than existing limits, and on their appearance probability P<0.15%(95antineutrinoproductionbyspin−flavorprecession,thisupperboundimpliesanupperlimitontheproductoftheintrinsicneutrinomagneticmomentandthevalueofthesolarmagneticfield (95% CL). Assuming a concrete model for antineutrino production by spin-flavor precession, this upper bound implies an upper limit on the product of the intrinsic neutrino magnetic moment and the value of the solar magnetic field \mu B< 2.3\times 10^{-21}MeV95LMA MeV 95% CL (for LMA (\Delta m^2, \tan^2\theta)values).Limitsonneutrinotransitionmomentsarealsoobtained.Forrealisticvaluesofotherastrophysicalsolarparameterstheseupperlimitswouldimplythattheneutrinomagneticmomentisconstrainedtobe,inthemostconservativecase, values). Limits on neutrino transition moments are also obtained. For realistic values of other astrophysical solar parameters these upper limits would imply that the neutrino magnetic moment is constrained to be, in the most conservative case, \mu\lsim 3.9\times 10^{-12} \mu_B(95CL)forarelativelysmallfield (95% CL) for a relatively small field B= 50kG.Forhighervaluesofthemagneticfieldweobtain: kG. For higher values of the magnetic field we obtain: \mu\lsim 9.0\times 10^{-13} \mu_Bforfield for field B= 200kGand kG and \mu\lsim 2.0\times 10^{-13} \mu_Bforfield for field B= 1000$ kG at the same statistical significance.Comment: 13 pages, 2 figure
