The Vector-Tensor Supermultiplet with Gauged Central Charge
The vector-tensor multiplet is coupled off-shell to an N=2 vector multiplet
such that its central charge transformations are realized locally. A gauged
central charge is a necessary prerequisite for a coupling to supergravity and
the strategy underlying our construction uses the potential for such a coupling
as a guiding principle. The results for the action and transformation rules
take a nonlinear form and necessarily include a Chern-Simons term. After a
duality transformation the action is encoded in a homogeneous holomorphic
function consistent with special geometry.Comment: 8 pages, LATE
N=2 Conformal Superspace in Four Dimensions
We develop the geometry of four dimensional N=2 superspace where the entire
conformal algebra of SU(2,2|2) is realized linearly in the structure group
rather than just the SL(2,C) x U(2)_R subgroup of Lorentz and R-symmetries,
extending to N=2 our prior result for N=1 superspace. This formulation
explicitly lifts to superspace the existing methods of the N=2 superconformal
tensor calculus; at the same time the geometry, when degauged to SL(2,C) x
U(2)_R, reproduces the existing formulation of N=2 conformal supergravity
constructed by Howe.Comment: 43 pages; v2 references added, acknowledgments update
On The spectrum of a Noncommutative Formulation of the D=11 Supermembrane with Winding
A regularized model of the double compactified D=11 supermembrane with
nontrivial winding in terms of SU(N) valued maps is obtained. The condition of
nontrivial winding is described in terms of a nontrivial line bundle introduced
in the formulation of the compactified supermembrane. The multivalued
geometrical objects of the model related to the nontrivial wrapping are
described in terms of a SU(N) geometrical object which in the
limit, converges to the symplectic connection related to the area preserving
diffeomorphisms of the recently obtained non-commutative description of the
compactified D=11 supermembrane.(I. Martin, J.Ovalle, A. Restuccia. 2000,2001)
The SU(N) regularized canonical lagrangian is explicitly obtained. In the limit it converges to the lagrangian in (I.Martin, J.Ovalle,
A.Restuccia. 2000,2001) subject to the nontrivial winding condition. The
spectrum of the hamiltonian of the double compactified D=11 supermembrane is
discussed.
Generically, it contains local string like spikes with zero energy.
However the sector of the theory corresponding to a principle bundle
characterized by the winding number , described by the SU(N) model we
propose, is shown to have no local string-like spikes and hence the spectrum of
this sector should be discrete.Comment: 16 pages.Latex2
Supersymmetric N=2 Einstein-Yang-Mills monopoles and covariant attractors
We present two generic classes of supersymmetric solutions of N=2, d=4
supergravity coupled to non-Abelian vector supermultiplets with a gauge group
that includes an SU(2) factor. The first class consists of embeddings of the 't
Hooft-Polyakov monopole and in the examples considered it has a fully regular,
asymptotically flat space-time metric without event horizons. The other class
of solutions consists of regular non-Abelian extreme black holes. There is a
covariant attractor at the horizon of these non-Abelian black holes.Comment: 14 pages, Late
The general gaugings of maximal d=9 supergravity
We use the embedding tensor method to construct the most general maximal
gauged/massive supergravity in d=9 dimensions and to determine its extended
field content. Only the 8 independent deformation parameters (embedding tensor
components, mass parameters etc.) identified by Bergshoeff \textit{et al.} (an
SL(2,R) triplet, two doublets and a singlet can be consistently introduced in
the theory, but their simultaneous use is subject to a number of quadratic
constraints. These constraints have to be kept and enforced because they cannot
be used to solve some deformation parameters in terms of the rest. The
deformation parameters are associated to the possible 8-forms of the theory,
and the constraints are associated to the 9-forms, all of them transforming in
the conjugate representations. We also give the field strengths and the gauge
and supersymmetry transformations for the electric fields in the most general
case. We compare these results with the predictions of the E11 approach,
finding that the latter predicts one additional doublet of 9-forms, analogously
to what happens in N=2, d=4,5,6 theories.Comment: Latex file, 43 pages, reference adde
The Tensor Hierarchies of Pure N=2,d=4,5,6 Supergravities
We study the supersymmetric tensor hierarchy of pure (gauged) N=2,d=4,5,6
supergravity and compare them with those of the pure, ungauged, theories
(worked out by Gomis and Roest for d=5) and the predictions of the Kac-Moody
approach made by Kleinschmidt and Roest. We find complete agreement in the
ungauged case but we also find that, after gauging, new Stueckelberg symmetries
reduce the number of independent "physical" top-forms. The analysis has to be
performed to all orders in fermion fields.
We discuss the construction of the worldvolume effective actions for the
p-branes which are charged with respect to the (p+1)-form potentials and the
relations between the tensor hierarchies and p-branes upon dimensional
reduction.Comment: LaTeX2e file, 20 pages, 1 figure Results refined by extension of the

Chern-Simons Couplings and Inequivalent Vector-Tensor Multiplets
The off-shell vector-tensor multiplet is considered in an arbitrary background of N=2 vector supermultiplets. We establish the existence of two inequivalent versions, characterized by different Chern-Simons couplings. In one version the vector field of the vector-tensor multiplet is contained quadratically in the Chern-Simons term, which implies nonlinear terms in the supersymmetry transformations and equations of motion. In the second version, which requires a background of at least two abelian vector supermultiplets, the supersymmetry transformations remain at most linear in the vector-tensor components. This version is of the type known to arise from reduction of tensor supermultiplets in six dimensions. Our work applies to any number of vector-tensor multiplets
Non-abelian D=11 Supermembrane
We obtain a U(M) action for supermembranes with central charges in the Light
Cone Gauge (LCG). The theory realizes all of the symmetries and constraints of
the supermembrane together with the invariance under a U(M) gauge group with M
arbitrary. The worldvolume action has (LCG) N=8 supersymmetry and it
corresponds to M parallel supermembranes minimally immersed on the target M9xT2
(MIM2). In order to ensure the invariance under the symmetries and to close the
corresponding algebra, a star-product determined by the central charge
condition is introduced. It is constructed with a nonconstant symplectic
two-form where curvature terms are also present. The theory is in the strongly
coupled gauge-gravity regime. At low energies, the theory enters in a
decoupling limit and it is described by an ordinary N=8 SYM in the IR phase for
any number of M2-branes.Comment: Contribution to the Proceedings of the Dubna International SQS'09
