Elastic Tensor of SrRuO
The six independent elastic constants of SrRuO were determined using
resonant ultrasound spectroscopy on a high-quality single-crystal specimen. The
constants are in excellent agreement with those obtained from pulse-echo
experiments performed on a sample cut from the same ingot. A calculation of the
Debye temperature using the measured constants agrees well with values obtained

Transport in Ultraclean YBaCuO: neither Unitary nor Born Impurity Scattering
The thermal conductivity of ultraclean YBaCuO was measured at
very low temperature in magnetic fields up to 13 T. The temperature and field
dependence of the electronic heat conductivity show that two widespread
assumptions of transport theory applied to unconventional superconductors fail
for clean cuprates: impurity scattering cannot be treated in the usual unitary
limit (nor indeed in the Born limit), and scattering of quasiparticles off
vortices cannot be neglected. Our study also sheds light on the long-standing
puzzle of a sudden onset of a "plateau" in the thermal conductivity of Bi-2212

Open and reproducible science practices in psychoneuroendocrinology: Opportunities to foster scientific progress
This perspective article was written by invitation of the editors in chief as a summary and extension of the symposium entitled Psychoneuroendocrine Research in the Era of the Replication Crisis which was held at the virtual meeting of the International Society of Psychoneuroendocrinology 2021. It highlights the opportunities presented by the application of open and reproducible scientific practices in psychoneuroendocrinology (PNE), an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of psychology, endocrinology, immunology, neurology, and psychiatry. It conveys an introduction to the topics preregistration, registered reports, quantifying the impact of equally-well justifiable analysis decisions, and open data and scripts, while emphasizing ‘selfish’ reasons to adopt such practices as individual researcher. Complementary to the call for adoption of open science practices, we highlight the need for methodological best practice guidelines in the field of PNE, which could further contribute to enhancing replicability of results. We propose concrete steps for future actions and provide links to additional resources for those interested in adopting open and reproducible science practices in future studies
Symmetry of the order parameter in superconducting ZrZn_2
We apply symmetry considerations to study the possible superconducting order
parameters in ferromagnetic ZrZn_2. We predict that the presence and the
location of the superconducting gap nodes depend on the direction of
magnetization M. In particular, if M is directed along the z axis, then the
order parameter should always have zeros. We also discuss how to determine the

Ultrasonic attenuation in magnetic fields for superconducting states with line nodes in Sr2RuO4
We calculate the ultrasonic attenuation in magnetic fields for
superconducting states with line nodes vertical or horizontal relative to the
RuO_2 planes. This theory, which is valid for fields near Hc2 and not too low
temperatures, takes into account the effects of supercurrent flow and Andreev
scattering by the Abrikosov vortex lattice. For rotating in-plane field
H(theta) the attenuation alpha(theta)exhibits variations of fourfold symmetry
in the rotation angle theta. In the case of vertical nodes, the transverse T100
sound mode yields the weakest(linear)H and T dependence of alpha, while the
longitudinal L100 mode yields a stronger (quadratic) H and T dependence. This
is in strong contrast to the case of horizontal line nodes where alpha is the
same for the T100 and L100 modes (apart from a shift of pi/4 in field
direction) and is roughly a quadratic function of H and T. Thus we conclude
that measurements of alpha in in-plane magnetic fields for different in-plane
sound modes may be an important tool for probing the nodal structure of the gap

Toxoplasma gondii infection in people with schizophrenia is related to higher hair glucocorticoid levels
IntroductionToxoplasma gondii (TG) is a common protozoan parasite infecting approximately one third of the human population. Animal studies have shown that this parasite can manipulate its host behavior. Based on this, human studies have assessed if TG can be involved in mental health disorders associated with important behavioral modifications such as schizophrenia. However, results have been discrepant. Given that TG has a strong impact on fear and risk-taking processes in animal studies and that fear and risk-taking behaviors are associated with the human stress response, we tested whether glucocorticoid biomarkers (salivary and hair) differ in people with schizophrenia and controls as a function of TG status. MethodsWe measured TG antibodies in blood samples, as well as salivary and hair glucocorticoid levels in 226 people with schizophrenia (19.9% women, mean age = 39 years old) and 129 healthy individuals (controls) (45.7% women, mean age = 41 years old). ResultsThe results showed that people with schizophrenia infected with TG presented significantly higher hair glucocorticoid concentrations than non-infected people with schizophrenia. This effect was not found in control participants. No effect was observed for salivary glucocorticoid levels. Additionally, there were no associations between TG infection and positive psychotic symptoms nor impulsivity. DiscussionThese results show that people with schizophrenia present high levels of hair glucocorticoid levels only when they are infected with TG. Further studies performed in populations suffering from other mental health disorders are needed to determine if this effect is specific to schizophrenia, or whether it is generalized across mental health disorders
PBX1 genomic pioneer function drives ERα signaling underlying progression in breast cancer.
Altered transcriptional programs are a hallmark of diseases, yet how these are established is still ill-defined. PBX1 is a TALE homeodomain protein involved in the development of different types of cancers. The estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) is central to the development of two-thirds of all breast cancers. Here we demonstrate that PBX1 acts as a pioneer factor and is essential for the ERα-mediated transcriptional response driving aggressive tumors in breast cancer. Indeed, PBX1 expression correlates with ERα in primary breast tumors, and breast cancer cells depleted of PBX1 no longer proliferate following estrogen stimulation. Profiling PBX1 recruitment and chromatin accessibility across the genome of breast cancer cells through ChIP-seq and FAIRE-seq reveals that PBX1 is loaded and promotes chromatin openness at specific genomic locations through its capacity to read specific epigenetic signatures. Accordingly, PBX1 guides ERα recruitment to a specific subset of sites. Expression profiling studies demonstrate that PBX1 controls over 70% of the estrogen response. More importantly, the PBX1-dependent transcriptional program is associated with poor-outcome in breast cancer patients. Correspondingly, PBX1 expression alone can discriminate a priori the outcome in ERα-positive breast cancer patients. These features are markedly different from the previously characterized ERα-associated pioneer factor FoxA1. Indeed, PBX1 is the only pioneer factor identified to date that discriminates outcome such as metastasis in ERα-positive breast cancer patients. Together our results reveal that PBX1 is a novel pioneer factor defining aggressive ERα-positive breast tumors, as it guides ERα genomic activity to unique genomic regions promoting a transcriptional program favorable to breast cancer progression
Short-term prospective memory deficits in chronic back pain patients
Objective: Chronic pain, particularly low back pain, is widespread. Although a great deal is known about the impact that this has on quality of life and physical activity, relatively little has been established regarding the more cognitive effects of pain. This study aims to find out whether individuals with chronic pain experience memory deficits in prospective memory (PM), the process of remembering to do things at some future point in time. Examples of PM include remembering to keep an appointment, such as a visit to a clinic, or to perform a particular task, such as paying a bill on time.
Methods: The PM of 50 participants with chronic pain was compared with 50 pain-free participants. Each participant completed the Prospective Memory Questionnaire, which assesses three aspects of prospective memory (short-term habitual, long-term episodic, and internally cued), and records the use of strategies to aid remembering.
Results: In comparison to those not in pain, participants with chronic pain had significantly impaired short-term prospective memory, an effect which was evident even after co-varying use of analgesics and other drugs.
Conclusions: These findings provide new insights into prospective memory dysfunction in people with chronic pain. Possible mechanisms for this dysfunction are discussed and suggestions for future research given
