It is reviewed the issue of rule of religious values as a basis and grounds for law evolution in the context of definition of its main priorities. It is shown the correlation between the religion and the law in circumstances of possible dynamic of Ukrainian society democratization. It is обосновано the priority moral principles for developing pivot as a ground of law evolution. Key words: «religion values», «values of law», «moral»
Wave function recombination instability in cold atom interferometers
Cold atom interferometers use guiding potentials that split the wave function
of the Bose-Einstein condensate and then recombine it. We present theoretical
analysis of the wave function recombination instability that is due to the weak
nonlinearity of the condensate. It is most pronounced when the accumulated
phase difference between the arms of the interferometer is close to an odd
multiple of PI and consists in exponential amplification of the weak ground
state mode by the strong first excited mode. The instability exists for both
trapped-atom and beam interferometers.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
«Національна згода» як об’єкт філософської рефлексії
У статті розглядається концепт «національної згоди» як певний
різновид комунікації між владою та громадськістю. Виділяються
основні типи соціальної згоди: «згода» як легітимізація влади з боку
населення, «згода» як певний різновид ідентичності («національна
згода»), «згода» як консенсус стосовно проведення тієї чи іншої
політики.The author reviews a concept of «national consent» as a variety
of communication between power and community. The basic types of
social consent are determined: consent as legitimization of power on
the part of society, consent as a definite variety of identity («national
consent»), consent as a consensus in politics
Hunting for CDF Multi-Muon "Ghost" Events at Collider and Fixed-Target Experiments
In 2008 the CDF collaboration discovered a large excess of events containing
two or more muons, at least one of which seemed to have been produced outside
the beam pipe. We investigate whether similar "ghost" events could (and should)
have been seen in already completed experiments. The CDF di-muon data can be
reproduced by a simple model where a relatively light X particle undergoes
four-body decay. This model predicts a large number of ghost events in Fermilab
fixed-target experiments E772, E789 and E866, applying the cuts optimized for
analyses of Drell-Yan events. A correct description of events with more than
two muons requires a more complicated model, where two X particles are produced
from a very broad resonance Y. This model can be tested in fixed-target
experiments only if the cut on the angles, or rapidities, of the muons can be
relaxed. Either way, the UA1 experiment at the CERN ppbar collider should have
observed O(100) ghost events.Comment: 15 pages, 9 figure
An unprecedented phosphinine with significant P(π)-donor properties
A hitherto unprecedented electronic situation has been observed for a
substituted, pyridyl-functionalized phosphinine. In contrast to previous
studies, this compound shows considerable π-donor properties as the result of
the rather strong +M effect of the CH3S-substituent, changing the electronic
properties of this low-coordinate and aromatic phosphorus heterocycle
substantially
Trapped-Atom-Interferometer in a Magnetic Microtrap
We propose a configuration of a magnetic microtrap which can be used as an
interferometer for three-dimensionally trapped atoms. The interferometer is
realized via a dynamic splitting potential that transforms from a single well
into two separate wells and back. The ports of the interferometer are
neighboring vibrational states in the single well potential. We present a
one-dimensional model of this interferometer and compute the probability of
unwanted vibrational excitations for a realistic magnetic potential. We
optimize the speed of the splitting process in order suppress these excitations
and conclude that such interferometer device should be feasible with currently
available microtrap technique.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures, submitted to PR
Development of hematopoietic stem cell activity in the mouse embryo.
The precise time of appearance of the first hematopoietic stem cell activity in the developing mouse embryo is unknown. Recently the aorta-gonad-mesonephros region of the developing mouse embryo has been shown to possess hematopoietic colony-forming activity (CFU-S) in irradiated recipient mice. To determine whether the mouse embryo possesses definitive hematopoietic stem cell activity in the analogous AGM region and to determine the order of appearance of stem cells in the yolk sac, AGM region, and liver, we transferred these embryonic tissues into adult irradiated recipients. We report here the long-term, complete, and functional hematopoietic repopulation of primary and serial recipients with AGM-derived cells. We observe potent hematopoietic stem cell activity in the AGM region before the appearance of yolk sac and liver stem cell activity and discuss a model for the maturation of stem cell activity in mouse embryogenesis
Nonforward anomalous dimensions of Wilson operators in N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory
We present the next-to-leading order results for universal non-forward
anomalous dimensions of Wilson twist-2 operators in N=4 supersymmetric
Yang-Mills theory. The whole calculation was performed using supersymmetric
Ward identities derived in this paper together with already known QCD results
and does not involve any additional calculation of diagrams. We also considered
one particular limit of our result, which could potentially be interesting in
the context of AdS/CFT correspondence.Comment: 15 pages, references added, typos corrected, version accepted in JHE
Brain plasticity in pregnancy and the postpartum period: links to maternal caregiving and mental health
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve numerous physiological adaptations that enable the development and survival of the offspring. A distinct neural plasticity characterizes the female brain during this period, and dynamic structural and functional changes take place that accompany fundamental behavioral adaptations, stimulating the female to progress from an individual with self-directed needs to being responsible for the care of another life. While many animal studies detail these modifications, an emerging body of research reveals the existence of reproduction-related brain plasticity in human mothers too. Additionally, associations with aspects of maternal caregiving point to adaptive changes that benefit a woman’s transition to motherhood. However, the dynamic changes that affect a woman’s brain are not merely adaptive, and they likely confer a vulnerability for the development of mental disorders. Here, we review the changes in brain structure and function that a woman undergoes during the peripartum period, outlining associations between these neural alterations and different aspects of maternal care. We additionally discuss peripartum mood disorders and postpartum psychosis, and review the neuroimaging studies that investigate the neural bases of these conditions.Pathways through Adolescenc
