TO STUDY THE IMPLICATIONS OF CURRENCY FUTURE AS A HEDGING TOOL

    Get PDF
India started its structural foreign exchange reforms way back in the 90's and Globally, operations in the foreign exchange market started in a major way after the breakdown of the Bretton Woods system in 1971, which also marked the beginning of floating exchange rate regimes in several countries. Over the years, the foreign exchange market has emerged as the largest market in the world. The decade of the 1990s witnessed a perceptible policy shift in many emerging markets towards reorientation of their financial markets in terms of new products and instruments, development of institutional and market infrastructure and realignment of regulatory structure consistent with the liberalized operational framework. The changing contours gradually shifted to a managed floating system with RBI intervention. Currently there is an active OTC market with Spot and Forward trades in big quantities. The participants for such trades range from banks to international traders with underlying currency risks. Such as crude market has a daily volume of around USD 33 billion, throwing open enormous opportunities. The impact of exchange rate volatility on domestic aggregates can be minimized with the help of hedging strategies in Currency Futures.  Considered 2 cases for study. How exchange rate trends impact particular business

    How Good Are Popular Matchings?

In this paper, we consider the Hospital Residents problem (HR) and the Hospital Residents problem with Lower Quotas (HRLQ). In this model with two sided preferences, stability is a well accepted notion of optimality. However, in the presence of lower quotas, a stable and feasible matching need not exist. For the HRLQ problem, our goal therefore is to output a good feasible matching assuming that a feasible matching exists. Computing matchings with minimum number of blocking pairs (Min-BP) and minimum number of blocking residents (Min-BR) are known to be NP-Complete. The only approximation algorithms for these problems work under severe restrictions on the preference lists. We present an algorithm which circumvents this restriction and computes a popular matching in the HRLQ instance. We show that on data-sets generated using various generators, our algorithm performs very well in terms of blocking pairs and blocking residents. Yokoi [Yokoi, 2017] recently studied envy-free matchings for the HRLQ problem. We propose a simple modification to Yokoi\u27s algorithm to output a maximal envy-free matching. We observe that popular matchings outperform envy-free matchings on several parameters of practical importance, like size, number of blocking pairs, number of blocking residents. In the absence of lower quotas, that is, in the Hospital Residents (HR) problem, stable matchings are guaranteed to exist. Even in this case, we show that popularity is a practical alternative to stability. For instance, on synthetic data-sets generated using a particular model, as well as on real world data-sets, a popular matching is on an average 8-10% larger in size, matches more number of residents to their top-choice, and more residents prefer the popular matching as compared to a stable matching. Our comprehensive study reveals the practical appeal of popular matchings for the HR and HRLQ problems. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study on the empirical evaluation of popular matchings in this setting

Magnetotransport properties of individual InAs nanowires

We probe the magnetotransport properties of individual InAs nanowires in a field effect transistor geometry. In the low magnetic field regime we observe magnetoresistance that is well described by the weak localization (WL) description in diffusive conductors. The weak localization correction is modified to weak anti-localization (WAL) as the gate voltage is increased. We show that the gate voltage can be used to tune the phase coherence length (lϕl_\phi) and spin-orbit length (lsol_{so}) by a factor of \sim 2. In the high field and low temperature regime we observe the mobility of devices can be modified significantly as a function of magnetic field. We argue that the role of skipping orbits and the nature of surface scattering is essential in understanding high field magnetotransport in nanowires

Which postmenopausal women should be offered combined HRT?

Recent studies have demonstrated a small but significant risk of adverse effects from combined hormone replacement therapy (HRT), including cardiovascular disease, thromboembolic disease, and breast cancer. Time-limited HRT will control intolerable menopausal symptoms and prevent risk of fractures in newly menopausal women. However, HRT achieves its maximum efficacy in 35 years, and the risk of adverse outcomes increases as time progresses. Women considering HRT, particularly those at higher risk for vascular disease and breast cancer, should be informed of the potential risks. There is inadequate evidence to determine the extent of these risks in women who have had a hysterectomy and are taking unopposed estrogen (strength of recommendation: A, based on large randomized controlled trials)

Anaesthesia Management in a Case of Large Ventricular Septal Defect with Eisenmengerisation Undergoing Caesarean Section

Incidence of cardiac disease in pregnancy in developed countries is 0.2-3% and that in developing countries is still higher. Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) is one of the commonest congenital heart diseases. Pregnant patient with small VSD generally tolerate well but patients with unrepaired large VSD develop pulmonary hypertension and left heart failure over a period of time. If pulmonary pressure reaches systemic levels there is reversal or bidirectional flow. As per WHO classification of maternal cardiac risk disease, pulmonary hypertension is categorized under class 4. Here we report a case management of a pregnant patient with large VSD (15 mm) with severe pulmonary hypertension (105 mmHg) with eisenmengerisation posted for emergency caesarean section. It was done under general anaesthesia with successful maternal and foetal outcome

Hepatic Lipid Accumulation and Nrf2 Expression following Perinatal and Peripubertal Exposure to Bisphenol A in a Mouse Model of Nonalcoholic Liver Disease

Background: Exposure to chemicals during critical windows of development may re-program liver for increased risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Bisphenol A (BPA), a plastics component, has been described to impart adverse effects during gestational and lactational exposure. Our work has pointed to nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) being a modulator of hepatic lipid accumulation in models of NAFLD. Objectives: To determine if chemical exposure can prime liver for steatosis via modulation of NRF2 and epigenetic mechanisms. Methods: Utilizing BPA as a model exposure, pregnant CD-1 mice were administered 25μg/kg/day role= presentation \u3e25μg/kg/day BPA via osmotic minipumps from gestational day 8 through postnatal day (PND)16. The offspring were weaned on PND21 and exposed to same dose of BPA via their drinking water through PND35. Tissues were collected from pups at week 5 (W5), and their littermates at week 39 (W39). Results: BPA increased hepatic lipid content concomitant with increased Nrf2 and pro-lipogenic enzyme expression at W5 and W39 in female offspring. BPA exposure increased Nrf2 binding to a putative antioxidant response element consensus sequence in the sterol regulatory-element binding protein-1c (Srebp-1c) promoter. Known Nrf2 activators increased SREBP-1C promoter reporter activity in HepG2 cells. Methylated DNA immunoprecipitation-PCR and pyrosequencing revealed that developmental BPA exposure induced hypomethylation of the Nrf2 and Srebp-1c promoters in livers of W5 mice, which was more prominent in W39 mice than in others. Conclusion: Exposure to a xenobiotic during early development induced persistent fat accumulation via hypomethylation of lipogenic genes. Moreover, increased Nrf2 recruitment to the Srebp-1c promoter in livers of BPA-exposed mice was observed. Overall, the underlying mechanisms described a broader impact beyond BPA exposure and can be applied to understand other models of NAFLD

    Get PDF
Day by day the use of various technologies increased tremendously in various applications such as food industry, textile industry, farming sectors and list goes on. The wireless sensor network with GSM is used in large geographical area become cost effective and possible. The wireless sensing network for bridge monitoring is the best example. The 14 people were died and 18 were missing in a horrible incident happened on 3rd march 2016 when bridge on the Savitri river has been collapsed. If the status of that bridge was monitored time to time then this horrible accident could be avoided. Hence, we have developed a system which will continuously monitor the status of the bridge
