    First identification of large electric monopole strength in well-deformed rare earth nuclei

    Excited states in the well-deformed rare earth isotopes 154^{154}Sm and 166^{166}Er were populated via ``safe'' Coulomb excitation at the Munich MLL Tandem accelerator. Conversion electrons were registered in a cooled Si(Li) detector in conjunction with a magnetic transport and filter system, the Mini-Orange spectrometer. For the first excited 0+0^+ state in 154^{154}Sm at 1099 keV a large value of the monopole strength for the transition to the ground state of ρ2(E0;02+0g+)=96(42)103\rho^2(\text{E0}; 0^+_2 \to 0^+_\text{g}) = 96(42)\cdot 10^{-3} could be extracted. This confirms the interpretation of the lowest excited 0+0^+ state in 154^{154}Sm as the collective β\beta-vibrational excitation of the ground state. In 166^{166}Er the measured large electric monopole strength of ρ2(E0;04+01+)=127(60)103\rho^2(\text{E0}; 0^+_4 \to 0^+_1) = 127(60)\cdot 10^{-3} clearly identifies the 04+0_4^+ state at 1934 keV to be the β\beta-vibrational excitation of the ground state.Comment: submitted to Physics Letters

    Low-energy Coulomb excitation of 62^{62}Fe and 62^{62}Mn following in-beam decay of 62^{62}Mn

    Sub-barrier Coulomb-excitation was performed on a mixed beam of 62^{62}Mn and 62^{62}Fe, following in-trap β\beta^{-} decay of 62^{62}Mn at REX-ISOLDE, CERN. The trapping and charge breeding times were varied in order to alter the composition of the beam, which was measured by means of an ionisation chamber at the zero-angle position of the Miniball array. A new transition was observed at 418~keV, which has been tentatively associated to a (2+,3+)1g.s.+(2^{+},3^{+})\rightarrow1^{+}_{g.s.} transition. This fixes the relative positions of the β\beta-decaying 4+4^{+} and 1+1^{+} states in 62^{62}Mn for the first time. Population of the 21+2^{+}_{1} state was observed in 62^{62}Fe and the cross-section determined by normalisation to the 109^{109}Ag target excitation, confirming the B(E2)B(E2) value measured in recoil-distance lifetime experiments.Comment: 9 pages, 10 figure

    Child dietary patterns in Homo sapiens evolution: A systematic review

    Dietary patterns spanning millennia could inform contemporary public health nutrition. Children are largely absent from evidence describing diets throughout human evolution, despite prevalent malnutrition today signaling a potential genome-environment divergence. This systematic review aimed to identify dietary patterns of children ages 6 months to 10 years consumed before the widespread adoption of agriculture. Metrics of mention frequency (counts of food types reported) and food groups (globally standardized categories) were applied to: compare diets across subsistence modes [gatherer-hunter-fisher (GHF), early agriculture (EA) groups]; examine diet quality and diversity; and characterize differences by life course phase and environmental context defined using Köppen-Geiger climate zones. The review yielded child diet information from 95 cultural groups (52 from GHF; 43 from EA/mixed subsistence groups). Animal foods (terrestrial and aquatic) were the most frequently mentioned food groups in dietary patterns across subsistence modes, though at higher frequencies in GHF than in EA. A broad range of fruits, vegetables, roots and tubers were more common in GHF, while children from EA groups consumed more cereals than GHF, associated with poor health consequences as reported in some studies. Forty-eight studies compared diets across life course phases: 28 showed differences and 20 demonstrated similarities in child versus adult diets.     (Attenuated) hallucinations join basic symptoms in a transdiagnostic network cluster analysis

    Producción CientíficaHallucinations are considered characteristic symptoms of psychosis and part of the ‘psychosis superspectrum’ of the Hierarchical Taxonomy Of Psychopathology (HiTOP) initiative. To gain insight into their psychopathological relevance, we studied their dimensional placement within a single dense transdiagnostic network constituting of basic symptoms as well as of attenuated and frank psychotic, and related symptoms. Newman's modularity analysis was used to detect symptom clusters in an earlier generated network (Jimeno, N., et al., 2020. The constituting 86 symptoms were assessed with the Schizophrenia Proneness Instrument, Adult version (SPI-A), the Structured Interview for Psychosis-Risk Syndromes (SIPS), and the Positive And Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) in three adult samples of an early detection service: clinical high-risk (n = 203), first-episode psychosis (n = 153), and major depression (n = 104). Three clusters were detected: “subjective disturbances”, “positive symptoms and behaviors”, and “negative and anxious-depressive symptoms”. The predominately attenuated hallucinations of both SIPS and PANSS joined the basic symptoms in “subjective disturbances”, whereas other positive symptoms entered “positive symptoms and behaviors”. Our results underline the importance of insight in separating true psychotic hallucinations from other hallucinatory experiences that, albeit phenomenologically similar are still experienced with some insight, i.e., are present in an attenuated form.
