Anthocyanin content in grains of barley and oat accessions from the VIR collection
Background. Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) and oat (Avena sativa L.) are grain crops belonging to one of the main sources of food and forage in the Russian Federation. They contain proteins, various groups of vitamins, fats, carbohydrates, β-glucans, minerals and different bioloactive compounds, including anthocyanins. Recently, much attention has been given to anthocyanins due to their various valuable properties. Therefore, the grain of barley and oat is a potentially promising economic product and a component of functional nutrition. The aim of this work was to estimate the content of anthocyanins in barley and oat accessions with different pigmentation of kernels and lemma. Materials and methods. 32 barley and 11 oat accessions were studied by spectrophotometry. Anthocyanins were extracted from barley and oat kernels with a 1% HCl solution in methanol. Results and discussion. As a result of the study, accessions and varieties with the highest content of anthocyanins were identified: for barley these are k-15904 (China), k-19906 (Mongolia), k-18709 (Japan), k-18723, k-18729 (Canada), k-17725 (Turkey) belonging to var. violaceum; k-29568 (Japan) – var. densoviolaceum; k-8690 (Ethiopia) – var. griseinigrum; k-28205 (Germany) – var. nudidubium; and for oat these are k-15527 (A. ayssinica Hochst. var. braunii Koern., Ethiopia) and k-15245 (A. strigosa Schreb. subsp. brevis var. tephera Mordv. ex Sold. et Rod., Poland). Conclusion. The obtained results demonstrated that the VIR collection includes accessions with potential value for the development of varieties with an increased anthocyanin content, which can be used as functional food products
Measurement of the cross-section ratio sigma_{psi(2S)}/sigma_{J/psi(1S)} in deep inelastic exclusive ep scattering at HERA
The exclusive deep inelastic electroproduction of and
at an centre-of-mass energy of 317 GeV has been studied with the ZEUS
detector at HERA in the kinematic range GeV,
GeV and GeV, where is the photon virtuality, is the
photon-proton centre-of-mass energy and is the squared four-momentum
transfer at the proton vertex. The data for GeV were taken in
the HERA I running period and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 114
pb. The data for GeV are from both HERA I and HERA II
periods and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 468 pb. The decay
modes analysed were and for the
and for the . The cross-section ratio
has been measured as a function of
and . The results are compared to predictions of QCD-inspired
models of exclusive vector-meson production.Comment: 24 pages, 8 figure
Measurement of neutral current e+/-p cross sections at high Bjorken x with the ZEUS detector
The neutral current e+/-p cross section has been measured up to values of
Bjorken x of approximately 1 with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated
luminosity of 187 inv. pb of e-p and 142 inv. pb of e+p collisions at sqrt(s) =
318GeV. Differential cross sections in x and Q2, the exchanged boson
virtuality, are presented for Q2 geq 725GeV2. An improved reconstruction method
and greatly increased amount of data allows a finer binning in the high-x
region of the neutral current cross section and leads to a measurement with
much improved precision compared to a similar earlier analysis. The
measurements are compared to Standard Model expectations based on a variety of
recent parton distribution functions.Comment: 39 pages, 9 figure
Combined QCD and electroweak analysis of HERA data
A simultaneous fit of parton distribution functions (PDFs) and electroweak
parameters to HERA data on deep inelastic scattering is presented. The input
data are the neutral current and charged current inclusive cross sections which
were previously used in the QCD analysis leading to the HERAPDF2.0 PDFs. In
addition, the polarisation of the electron beam was taken into account for the
ZEUS data recorded between 2004 and 2007. Results on the vector and
axial-vector couplings of the Z boson to u- and d-type quarks, on the value of
the electroweak mixing angle and the mass of the W boson are presented. The
values obtained for the electroweak parameters are in agreement with Standard
Model predictions.Comment: 32 pages, 10 figures, accepted by Phys. Rev. D. Small corrections

Limits on the effective quark radius from inclusive scattering at HERA
The high-precision HERA data allows searches up to TeV scales for Beyond the
Standard Model contributions to electron-quark scattering. Combined
measurements of the inclusive deep inelastic cross sections in neutral and
charged current scattering corresponding to a luminosity of around 1
fb have been used in this analysis. A new approach to the beyond the
Standard Model analysis of the inclusive data is presented; simultaneous
fits of parton distribution functions together with contributions of "new
physics" processes were performed. Results are presented considering a finite
radius of quarks within the quark form-factor model. The resulting 95% C.L.
upper limit on the effective quark radius is cm.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, accepted by Phys. Lett.
Search for a narrow baryonic state decaying to and in deep inelastic scattering at HERA
A search for a narrow baryonic state in the and
system has been performed in collisions at HERA with the ZEUS detector
using an integrated luminosity of 358 pb taken in 2003-2007. The search
was performed with deep inelastic scattering events at an centre-of-mass
energy of 318 GeV for exchanged photon virtuality, , between 20 and 100
. Contrary to evidence presented for such a state around 1.52
GeV in a previous ZEUS analysis using a sample of 121 pb taken in
1996-2000, no resonance peak was found in the invariant-mass
distribution in the range 1.45-1.7 GeV. Upper limits on the production cross
section are set.Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures, accepted by Phys. Lett. B. Minor changes from

STUDY OF THE PARAMETERS OF TOLERABILITY AND ADHERENCE TO THERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE AND ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION ON THE BACKGROUND OF TREATMENT WITH FIXED COMBINATION OF RAMIPRIL AND AMLODIPINE (ACCORDING TO THE RESULTS OF OBSERVATIONAL STUDY "GRANAT-2")
Working group of the “GRANAT-2” study: Tula - Trubitsyn G.I., Ivanov Yu.V., Mirenkova O.K., Eskova R.A., Simonova R.P., Milon M.E., Telegina E.V., Kuznetsov A.M., Zhukova N.A., Zainullina I.K.; Rostov-on-Don - Budanov O.V., London E.M., Minosyan L.V., Nedashkovskaya N.G., Ter-Ananyants Ye.A.; Tomsk - Proskokova I.Yu., Permyakova O.V., Politova L.V., Maneeva I.D., Ivanova S.Yu.; Nizhny Novgorod - Larina O.V., Pokrovskaya I.N., Patselt E.A.; Moscow - Sladkova T.A., Zelenova Т.V. Aim. To study the tolerability and adherence to antihypertensive therapy in patients with hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) using the fixed combination of ramipril and amlodipine in the observational program for patients with arterial hypertension and COPD (GRANAT-2). Material and methods. Patients with hypertension and COPD (n=52) with all inclusion criteria and without exclusion criteria who signed informed consent to participate in the GRANAT-2 program were included into the study. The use of a fixed combination of ramipril and amlodipine was recommended in all patients. The doses were determined by the treating physicians in accordance with the official drug instruction. The patients had 4 visits, and the duration of the study was 5 months. The Morisky-Green test was used to assess an adherence of patients to treatment. Assessments of blood pressure, adverse events were performed at all visits. Results. 50 of 52 patients completed the study: 45 patients used the studied fixed combination in the recommended doses, and 5 patients used other antihypertensive drugs, 2 patients withdrew from the study. Systolic blood pressure after 1 month of treatment decreased by an average of 20 mm Hg from the baseline, and diastolic blood pressure – by 10 mmHg. These rates after 5 months of therapy were 29 mm Hg and 15 mm Hg, respectively. Target blood pressure level was achieved in all patients. Increase in adherence of patients to treatment (according to the Morisky-Green test from 21.1% to 65.1%) was found. 2 cases of adverse events (dry cough) were registered. The discrepancy in adherence assessment was revealed between the results from the Morisky-Green test and the data from program case report forms. Conclusion. Regular patient visits to the doctor and the rapid achievement of an antihypertensive effect with good tolerability of a fixed combination of ramipril and amlodipine contributed to the increase in adherence of patients to treatment. Undesirable effects of the drug therapy are significant, but not leading factors that have a negative impact on the patient adherence to treatment
Measurement of event shapes in deep inelastic scattering at HERA
Inclusive event-shape variables have been measured in the current region of
the Breit frame for neutral current deep inelastic ep scattering using an
integrated luminosity of 45.0 pb^-1 collected with the ZEUS detector at HERA.
The variables studied included thrust, jet broadening and invariant jet mass.
The kinematic range covered was 10 < Q^2 < 20,480 GeV^2 and 6.10^-4 < x < 0.6,
where Q^2 is the virtuality of the exchanged boson and x is the Bjorken
variable. The Q dependence of the shape variables has been used in conjunction
with NLO perturbative calculations and the Dokshitzer-Webber non-perturbative
corrections (`power corrections') to investigate the validity of this approach.Comment: 7+25 pages, 6 figure
An NLO QCD analysis of inclusive cross-section and jet-production data from the ZEUS experiment
The ZEUS inclusive differential cross-section data from HERA, for charged and
neutral current processes taken with e+ and e- beams, together with
differential cross-section data on inclusive jet production in e+ p scattering
and dijet production in \gamma p scattering, have been used in a new NLO QCD
analysis to extract the parton distribution functions of the proton. The input
of jet data constrains the gluon and allows an accurate extraction of
\alpha_s(M_Z) at NLO;
\alpha_s(M_Z) = 0.1183 \pm 0.0028(exp.) \pm 0.0008(model)
An additional uncertainty from the choice of scales is estimated as \pm
0.005. This is the first extraction of \alpha_s(M_Z) from HERA data alone.Comment: 37 pages, 14 figures, to be submitted to EPJC. PDFs available at
