Micro-Jet Test Facility for Aerospace Propulsion Engineering Education

    Get PDF
This paper describes the methodology that has been developed and implemented at the School ofAeronautics (ETSIA) of the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM) to familiarize aerospaceengineering students with the operation of real complex jet engine systems. This methodology has atwo-pronged approach: students carry out preparatory work by using, first, a gas turbineperformance prediction numerical code; then they validate their assumptions and results on anexperimental test rig. When looking at the educational aspects, we have taken care that, apart frombeing sufficiently robust and flexible, the experimental set-up is similar to real jet engine rigs, so thestudents are not constrained to exploring a much too limited parametric space. Also, because afacility like this is usually subject to extensive and somewhat rugged use, we have focused on a lowcost design

A Nambu-Jona-Lasinio like model from QCD at low energies

    Get PDF
A generalization to any dimension of the fermion field transformation which allows to derive the solution of the massless Schwinger model in the path integral framework is identified. New arguments based on this transformation for a Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) like model as the low energy limit of a gauge theory in dimension greater than two are presented. Our result supports the spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking picture conjectured by Nambu many years ago and the link between QCD, NJL and chiral models.Comment: 7 pages, Latex file, no figures, revised version to appear in Phys. International Evidence on Stochastic and Deterministic Monetary Neutrality.

We analyze the issue of the impact of multiple breaks on monetary neutrality results, using a long annual international data set. We empirically verify whether neutrality propositions remain addressable (and if so, whether they hold or not), when unit root tests are carried out allowing for multiple structural breaks in the long-run trend function of the variables. It is found that conclusions on neutrality are sensitive to the number and location of breaks. In order to interpret the evidence for structural breaks, we introduce a notion of deterministic monetary neutrality, which naturally arises in the absence of permanent stochastic shocks to the variables.Deterministic and Stochastic Neutrality and Superneutrality of Money, Unit Roots, Structural Breaks, Resampling Methods

The appropriation of phrĂłnesis: (The debate between Gadamer and Tugendhat)

    Get PDF
AsĂ mismo, se muestra cĂłmo afectan estas dificultades en la comprensiĂłn de las estructuras del proceso de aprendizaje moral y del proceso reflexivo sobre uno mismoFor Gadamer, the choosing of the concept phrĂłnesis has a goal: to unite hermeneutics with Aristotle’s ethics, and to present the problem of the application of moral knowledge as a model of hermeneutics problem. Considering E. Tugendhat’s critical contributions to the matter, in this paper there’ll be an analysis on some difficulties in Gadamer’s approach, which derive from ‘phrĂłnesis’ impossibility to properly apply moral knowledge and to justify what is morally valid. Likewise, it will be shown how these difficulties affect comprehension on moral learning procedural structures and the self-reflecting proces

Pråcticas de consumo mås sustentables de la energía eléctrica

    Get PDF

Bingham Fluid Simulation in Porous Media with Lattice Boltzmann Method

    Get PDF
Generate a lattice Boltzmann model (LBM), which allows to simulate the behavior of a Bingham fluid through a rectangular channel with the D2Q9 model. For this purpose, a relaxation parameter is proposed based on the rheological parameters of the Bingham model. The validation will be carried out with the solution of the movement equation, and velocity profiles will be obtained for three different Bingham numbers (Bn). Other simulations will be made in a rectangular channel in the presence of arbitrarily and randomly generated porous media. The main objective is to propose a method to predict the behavior of non-Newtonian fluids (Bingham fluid) through porous media, which have many applications in the chemical industry avoiding at the same time the expensive experimentation of these systems, with predicting models
