Análise funcional de processos mnésicos e atencionais e sua interacção

Mestrado em Psicologia ForenseO presente estudo teve como principais objectivos replicar com crianças, o efeito típico de sobrevivência; avaliar se presença de distractores (evolutivamente relevantes, ou não) afecta os resultados obtidos para a tarefa de busca visual; avaliar a interacção entre a tarefa de processamento e o desempenho na tarefa de busca visual; e por último, verificar se os resultados nas duas tarefas são influenciados pelo nível de ansiedade/ medo subjectivos relatados pelos participantes. Para tal quarenta crianças, foram sujeitas à realização de uma tarefa de memória e uma tarefa de busca visual. Os resultados demonstraram que o processamento de informação em termos da sua relevância para a condição de sobrevivência, conduziu a um maior número de palavras recordadas do que para a condição de mudança de casa. Na tarefa de busca visual, os resultados demonstraram que os tempos de resposta dos participantes foram menores nas situações em que o alvo estava presente, em que estavam perante uma matriz de quatro itens e, em que não existiam distractores. Além disso, a presença do distractor “cogumelo” na ausência do alvo numa matriz de pequenas dimensões conduziu a um maior tempo de resposta dos participantes, em ambas as condições. Os participantes com baixos valores de ansiedade/ medo foram mais rápidos a responder á tarefa de busca visual, do que os com elevados valores de ansiedade. Relativamente às respostas correctas, os resultados demonstraram que o nível de performance de respostas correctas dos participantes foi muito próximo do perfeito. Quanto à interacção entre a tarefa de processamento e a tarefa de busca visual, verificou-se que o facto de os participantes realizarem a tarefa de processamento de sobrevivência antes da tarefa de busca visual não teve qualquer efeito sobre os seus tempos de resposta. Do mesmo modo, verificou-se que tanto na presença como na ausência do alvo, os participantes foram mais rápidos a responder perante uma matriz de quatro itens do que perante uma de oito itens. Verificou-se ainda que, para ambas as condições, os participantes com baixos valores de ansiedade/ medo foram mais rápidos a responder do que os participantes com elevados valores de ansiedade/ medo.This study had as main objective to replicate with children, the typical survival effect; assess whether the presence of distracters (evolutionarily relevant or not) affects the results for the visual search task, evaluate the interaction of processing task and the performance on visual search task; and finally, check if the results in both tasks are influenced by the level of subjective anxiety/fear reported by participants. Forty children were subjected to a memory task and a visual search one. The results showed that the processing of information in terms of its relevance to the survival condition led to a greater number of recalled words than for the moving house condition. In the visual search task, the results showed that paticipant’s response times were lower in situations where the target was present, facing an array of four items and without distracters. The presence of the target in the four items array with distracter led to response times much lower than with the absence of a distracter. Moreover, the presence of distracter “mushroom” in the absence of the target in a matrix of small led to a longer response time of participants in both conditions. Participants with low levels of anxiety/fear were quicker in the visual search task than those with higher levels of anxiety. In what concerns to the correct answers, the results showed that the participant’s performance was very close to perfect. About the interaction between the processing and the visual search task, it was found that performing the processing task before the visual search task had no effect on response times. Similarly, it was found that both the presence and absence of the target, participants were faster to respond before an array of four items that against one of eight items. Beneficial ownership : interpretation of the beneficial owner concept in tax treaty practice and European Union Law

Despite its long history, the beneficial ownership concept has raised many controversies over the years and continues to be one of the most debated terms in international tax law, due to its ambiguous definition. The OECD Model and EU law do not provide a clear definition for the term and the lack of harmonization of the concept has led Courts to apply different interpretations according to their own perspectives. The interconnection between the beneficial owner and abuse of rights has also been put on trial on several occasions, echoing the doubts surrounding the beneficial ownership term. The European Court of Justice recently issued two landmark decisions with important outcomes for the beneficial ownership concept and a new reading of the subject-to-tax clause, interpreted as requiring effective taxation.Apesar da sua longa história o conceito de beneficiário efetivo tem levantado controvérsia e continua a ser dos conceitos mais discutidos em direito internacional fiscal, devido à sua definição ambígua. Quer o Modelo da OCDE, quer o direito da União Europeia não definem de forma inequívoca o conceito e a sua falta de harmonização leva os tribunais a aplicar interpretações diferentes e contraditórias. A ligação entre o conceito de beneficiário efetivo e a sua ligação com a figura do abuso de direito foi já por diversas vezes abordada judicialmente, fazendo realçar as dúvidas quanto ao conceito. From Neglected History to Tourist Attraction: reordering the past in Zakes Mda's The Heart of Redness

The Heart of Redness comprises two narrative strands: one which is set only four years after the first democratic elections in South Africa, and a historical narrative that recovers the 1856-57 “Cattle Killing Movement” and discloses the early encounters between the Xhosa and the British colonizers. Retrieving the past episode originated by Nongqawuse and aligning it with the contemporary discussion surrounding issues of economic and social development raised by the proposal of a tourism project for the village of Qolorha, Mda successfully articulates the complex elements that have marked past and present South African culture and society. In Mda’s novel, the village of Qolorha and the character of Nongqawuse are released from their negative association with one of the most dramatic episodes in the history of the Xhosa and transformed into a tourist attraction that has the potential to contribute to the sustainable development of the local population. The rescue of Qolorha from the threat of massified tourism and the recovery of Nongqawuse as a meaningful character for the history of the Xhosa, enacted by Mda in this novel, emphasize the importance of alternative development models, as well as the relevance of revising biased historical narratives that often served manipulative objectives

Analysis of scientific production on Technological Innovation in Tourism

Until the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism was one of the sectors with the greatest growth potential on a global scale. It is now highlighted as one of the hardest hit sectors in economic terms and requires strategic recovery capacity coupled with technological innovation. Technology and innovation could provide a strong contribution to the development of tourism by integrating knowledge about tourism products, services and experiences and the new needs and behaviours of consumers. This study analysed the scientific productions on technological innovation in the tourism sector using literature review and bibliometric analysis techniques, with data collected from the main databases of international relevance, Web of Science and Scopus. This study presents the mapping and cluster structures for the trends and dynamics of the investigations on the discovered research themes using the VOSviewer software. The results indicate that research related to innovation and technology in tourism has evolved in recent years, as well as highlighting the main areas of activity and presenting contributions to possible future lines of research.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Innovation in services – how different from manufacturing?

Using standardised firm data a comparative analysis of the determinants of product and process innovation in manufacturing and services is performed. Results show that in services there are significant differences in innovation behaviour, in terms of intramural and extramural R&D. It is also found that size matters less in services than in manufacturing. Although youth has a positive effect in both cases, young service firms are more likely than young manufacturing of being pioneer innovators. The results reveal the importance of learning by doing in service process innovations, as young service firms are less likely to introduce process innovations

Innovation behaviour in financial services: an empirical analysis

In this paper, using standardised data for over 7000 service sector firms, we test different hypotheses to understand to what extent innovation output and activity in financial sector firms is different from other service firms. An intriguing result for the service sector as a whole is that the effect of a firm being part of a multinational group is negative for product innovation but positive for process innovation. Comparing the innovation behaviour of financial and non-financial services firms, we obtain four very interesting and significant differences. Firstly, we find that financial services have a lower probability of introducing product innovations, but a higher probability of introducing process innovations. Secondly, we find that financial services firms are not particularly good pioneer innovators, but they are quite good as innovation imitators. Thirdly, for the financial services firms, being part of a multinational group increases the probability of the firm being both a pioneer innovator and a product innovator. A construção do olhar de intérprete: o ensaísmo crítico de Gilda de Mello e Souza

O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar alguns aspectos da produção ensaística de Gilda de Mello e Souza (1919–2005). Tentaremos, neste artigo, traçar um esboço referenciado no contexto da trajetória intelectual da autora que, estruturada no ensaísmo crítico, estabeleceu um método de escrita livre e original no campo das artes, da estética e do pensamento social. Acreditamos que o programa e a metodologia presentes nos ensaios de Gilda propõem um programa crítico interdisciplinar que envolve uma análise estética e sociológica dos autores e artistas que a crítica toma como objeto. Para dar base a esse argumento, o artigo buscará, num segundo momento, compreender o olhar crítico com que Gilda analisa alguns aspectos dos processos sociais no Brasil e constrói um tipo particular de análise interpretativa da cultura e da sociedade brasileiras

A importância do ensino das ciências na educação pré-escolar e no 1.º ciclo do ensino básico

O presente estudo foi elaborado no âmbito da Prática de Ensino Supervisionada do Mestrado em Educação Pré-escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. A amostra desta investigação é composta por duas turmas, uma com crianças do Pré- escolar e outra com alunos do 1.º Ciclo. Com esta investigação evidencia-se a importância de realizar atividades experimentais e através destas as crianças envolve-se ativamente na construção das suas próprias aprendizagens, investiga, observa, experimenta, pensa, compara, formula hipóteses e tira conclusões. Desta forma, entende melhor o mundo que o rodeia, aprendendo de uma forma ativa e significativa. Atendendo à questão de investigação - Qual a importância das atividades experimentais no Ensino das Ciências na Educação de Infância e no 1.º ciclo do Ensino básico? Definiram-se os seguintes objetivos: desenvolver a compreensão de certos fenómenos, de forma significativa e com elevado poder de retenção; proporcionar aos alunos experiências de aprendizagens ativas e significativas; promover atividades experimentais como forma de desenvolver determinados conteúdos; possibilitar que os alunos sejam construtores autónomos e ativos do seu conhecimento, motivando os alunos e despertando o interesse de experimentar; e, desenvolver nas crianças/aluno a capacidade de pensar, interrogar, investigar e de relatar experiências e emitir opiniões críticas. Tendo em conta os objetivos estabelecidos para esta investigação, foi utilizada a metodologia de abordagem de investigação-ação, os dados foram recolhidos e analisados a partir dos protocolos realizados pelas crianças/alunos, aquando da realização de atividades experimentais e das reflexões das aulas lecionadas. Como resultados obtidos desta investigação, para além das inúmeras vantagens que estes apontam relativamente à realização de atividades experimentais, salienta-se a forte ligação entre a realização de atividades experimentais e o desenvolvimento de aprendizagens ativas e significativas nos alunos
