Dopant Spatial Distributions: Sample Independent Response Function And Maximum Entropy Reconstruction

We demonstrate the use of maximum entropy based deconvolution to reconstruct boron spatial distribution from the secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) depth profiles on a system of variously spaced boron $\delta$-layers grown in silicon. Sample independent response functions are obtained using a new method which reduces the danger of incorporating real sample behaviour in the response. Although the original profiles of different primary ion energies appear quite differently, the reconstructed distributions agree well with each other. The depth resolution in the reconstructed data is increased significantly and segregation of boron at the near surface side of the $\delta$-layers is clearly shown.Comment: 5 two-columne pages, 3 postscript figures, to appear in Phys. Electronic Stopping and Momentum Density of Diamond Obtained from First-Principles Calculations

We calculate the "head" element or the (0,0)-element of the wave-vector and frequency-dependent dielectric matrix of bulk crystals via first-principles, all-electron Kohn-Sham states in the integral of the irreducible polarizability in the random phase approximation. We approximate the macroscopic "head" element of the inverse matrix by its reciprocal value, and integrate over frequencies and momenta to obtain the electronic energy loss of protons at low velocities. Numerical evaluation for diamond targets predicts that the band gap causes a strong non-linear reduction of the electronic stopping power at ion velocities below 0.2 atomic units.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, REVTeX

Bredband till alla : en teknikinventering

Sveriges regering lade den 28 mars 2000 sin proposition 1999/2000:86 Ett informationssamhälle för alla. En av propositionens huvudinriktningar är att alla företag och hushåll skall kunna ha möjlighet att ansluta till ett rikstäckande datanät med bredbandskapacitet. Regeringen är medveten om att glesbygdsområden och landsorten, dvs områden utanför själva kommunernas stadskärnor, är eftersatta vad gäller tekniktillgänglighet, men specificerar inte hur och med vilken teknik dessa områden skall ”vävas” in i nätverket. Detta arbete beskriver de övergripande tekniker som finns idag och som är under utveckling, varvid två huvudgrupper kan urskiljas; trådburen respektive trådlös kommunikation. Inom dessa huvudgrupper finns ett antal olika tekniker som beroende på bl a standarder, kapacitetskrav, avstånd och antal anslutna användare kan användas i olika sammanhang. Arbetets slutsatser är att det inte finns någon generell lösning på problemet med att ansluta en kommuns ytterområden till stadsnätet, utan varje situation är unik och får bedömas var för sig. Därmed presenteras ett förslag till stöd vid beslutet att välja teknik
