Purpose: The purpose of this article is to discuss the impact of Supplier orientation and the resulting Supply Chain Management (SCM) approach, on the organizational performance of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems certified organizations. Methodology/Approach: Following a literature review, a full structural conceptual model was proposed. An online survey was administered to managers of Portuguese organizations with certified ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems. Descriptive Statistics and Structural Model Equations were used to validate the proposed conceptual model. Findings: There are positive relationships between Organization Strategy and Supplier Orientation, between Supplier Orientation and Stakeholders Satisfaction, and between Stakeholders Satisfaction and Organizational Performance Orientation, supporting ISO 9001:2015. These findings provide insights that supplier orientation, mediated by stakeholder satisfaction, is an essential tool for organizational competitive sustainable advantage. Research Limitation/implication: The analysis was based on managers of ISO 9001 certified organizations perceptions, so additional studies with actual data and longitudinal studies should be useful for further validation. Originality/Value of paper: The importance of the overall organizational ecosystem is highlighted with potential impact on the more than 1 Million ISO 9001 organizations certified worldwide and in their suppliers

This paper aims to present the results of a research that investigated academic productions in the area of education in the period from 1997 to 2017 on the teacher who works in the initial years of elementary school (AIEF) and teaches in public schools. The research carried out was of the "State of the Art" type from three central sources: theses and dissertations, articles in journals and works in events. A total of 7,497 productions were surveyed within the theme, of which 67 were analyzed by pre-defined criteria. In general, the surveyed productions prioritized the global performance of this professional without emphasis on a discipline or on special content. Most of these productions were developed in public institutions and most of the authors were female (88%). The choice for the qualitative approach was predominant with empirical studies counting on the professor as the participant subject of the research. There was the use of various instruments in the production/collection of data, mainly the use of interviews and questionnaires, followed by documentary analysis and observations. We concluded, from the analyzed researches, that the study about the polyvalent professional teacher that acts in the AIEF in the public school and emphasizes questions about his initial and continued formation stands out. This study aims to analyse the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre of Gaia (CRPG), as association that pursues its mission based on the social responsibility.

    Get PDF

In the nineteenth century, opera was one of the main musical manifestations in Rio de Janeiro and, undoubtedly, it was influenced by the Brazilian power structure and mainstream ideologies at the time, so much so that signs of nationalism can be detected in works produced throughout this period. Such signs allow us to revisit the issue of Brazilian musical nationalism and support the claim that it may have started as early as in the beginning of last century, contrary to the traditional view that places its birth in the late eighteen-hundreds

The closure of higher education institutions (HEIs) due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic led to visible changes in pedagogical practices. With the lockdown, there was ambiguity and disagreement about the workload of teachers and students, and about what to teach and what strategies to select. For most instructors, the first challenge was to recreate the face-to-face experience. Worldwide, most universities have speedily adopted synchronous and asynchronous communication modes. Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco, Webex, Zoom, and Moodle were among the most used tools. The present study is based upon a quantitative approach, and it intends to analyse teachers’ perceptions of remote teaching during the first pandemic period. Data were collected through an online questionnaire during June and July 2020. The questionnaire had 27 questions divided into three main sections: sociodemographic characterization, e-Learning strategies, and remote assessment. The study population was teachers of a Portuguese HEI. A random sample was used with 547 participants. The main conclusions show that the less experienced teachers are, the more satisfied they feel with remote classes and remote assessment. On the other hand, the most experienced teachers used more tools during the remote teaching period and developed more strategies to perform remote assessment. Regarding the overall assessment of the emergency remote teaching, the participants consider that it was a positive period, and they were moderately satisfied with remote classes and the strategies and tools used during this period. The APC was financed by Portuguese national funds through FCT—Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, under the project UIDB/05422/2020.The work of author Vanda Lima is supported by national funds, through the FCT—Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology under the project UIDB/04728/2020

B Impact Assessment as a Sustainable Tool: Analysis of the Certification Model

    Get PDF
Currently, certification is an essential tool for a company’s sustainability and a seal of trust for the stakeholders. The B Corporation (B Corp) certification system is in line with the leading indicators of sustainable development and social responsibility published by the general assembly of the United Nations, namely: environment, community, workers, customers, and governance. Nevertheless, it is essential that academic research should empirically assess the B Corp model’s reliability for its validation and legitimization. In this study, we address the results of the B Impact Assessment of 2262 companies certified by B Corp from the beginning of 2017 to March 2021. The main objective is to analyze the B Impact Assessment, verifying the robustness and consistency of the model to measure and improve the economic, social, and environmental impact of companies. We analyzed the construct’s validity through a confirmatory factorial analysis using AMOS statistical software. The results allowed us to identify some weaknesses and limitations of the B Impact Assessment. This certification system reflects an unadjusted model where the main assessment indicators have problems with regard to the measurement scale. The governance and customer indicators are the most vulnerable. The findings also allow us to state that there are apparently no minimum values established for each of the parameters evaluated, which may cause imbalances in the sustainable development process of B Corp companies. This research contributes to enhancing B Impact Assessment as a sustainability tool, highlighting areas for improvement concerning the indicators’ measurement scales and the assessment process, including the monitoring of evaluators. The work of the author Vanda Lima is supported by national funds, through the FCT— Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology under the project UIDB/04728/2020.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
