    Electrocardiogram of a patient with mushroom poisoning‐induced myocarditis

    Abstract A patient presented to our hospital with myocarditis caused by mushroom poisoning. The early ECG changes in this patient were very similar to the ECG of hyperacute ST‐segment elevation myocardial infarction or hyperkalemia, but further tests eliminated these options. The patient was fully treated by timely hemodialysis treatment, confirming the diagnosis of mushroom poisoning‐induced myocarditis. Although not specific to mushroom poisoning myocarditis, our experience shows that the observed ECG changes. Our findings have the potential to help diagnose and manage this potentially fatal disease in the future

    Recent advances for flame retardant rubber composites: Mini-review

    Flame retardant rubber composites have attracted a great attention during the past decades owing to their irreplaceable roles in complex industrial systems. Large amounts of efforts have been made to improve the flame retardant ability, developing high efficiency flame retardant systems which can reduce the release of heat, smoke and toxic gases while not deteriorate overall properties is becoming more and more important. This review briefly outlines the recent developments of flame retardant natural rubbers, silicon rubbers, some kinds of artificial rubbers and polyurethane elastomer composites, focuses on the design, development, mechanism and applications of advanced high-performance flame-retardant methods. Finally, outlooks the future tendency including more environmental-friendly strategies, higher flame-retardant efficiency and development of multifunctional flame-retardant rubber composites are proposed

    Research and Application of Panoramic Visual Perception-Assisted Navigation Technology for Ships

    In response to challenges such as narrow visibility for ship navigators, limited field of view from a single camera, and complex maritime environments, this study proposes panoramic visual perception-assisted navigation technology. The approach includes introducing a region-of-interest search method based on SSIM and an elliptical weighted fusion method, culminating in the development of the ship panoramic visual stitching algorithm SSIM-EW. Additionally, the YOLOv8s model is improved by increasing the size of the detection head, introducing GhostNet, and replacing the regression loss function with the WIoU loss function, and a perception model yolov8-SGW for sea target detection is proposed. The experimental results demonstrate that the SSIM-EW algorithm achieves the highest PSNR indicator of 25.736, which can effectively reduce the stitching traces and significantly improve the stitching quality of panoramic images. Compared to the baseline model, the YOLOv8-SGW model shows improvements in the P, R, and mAP50 of 1.5%, 4.3%, and 2.3%, respectively, its mAP50 is significantly higher than that of other target detection models, and the detection ability of small targets at sea has been significantly improved. Implementing these algorithms in tugboat operations at ports enhances the fields of view of navigators, allowing for the identification of targets missed by AISs and radar systems, thus ensuring operational safety and advancing the level of vessel intelligence

    Relapsed/refractory ovarian cancer, especially platinum resistance recurrence, remains a major therapeutic challenge. Here, we present the case of a patient with recurrent ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) who failed to respond to multiline chemotherapy and target therapy but achieved an immune complete response (iCR) with programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) inhibitor treatment. The overall survival (OS) was 59 months, and the recurrence-free survival (RFS) was 34 months after immunotherapy, which was counting. Meantime, molecular testing results revealed that traditional biomarkers for immunotherapy, including PD-L1 expression, microsatellite instability (MSI), and tumor mutational burden (TMB), were negative. HLA-B44 (B*18:01) supertype was confirmed by sequence-based HLA typing. This case raises the possibility that ovarian cancer patients with multidrug resistance may still benefit from PD-1 inhibitor therapy, even if PD-L1 pathology is negative.</p

    Can a holistic view facilitate the development of intelligent traditional Chinese medicine? A survey

    Intelligent traditional Chinese medicine (ITCM) is an emerging interdisciplinary subject. It aims to efficiently and precisely promote the prevention and treatment of diseases and health management in Chinese medicine clinical practice via the combination of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) fundamentals and artificial intelligence technologies. Presently, it is experiencing dramatic growth in recent years. On the one hand, a holistic view, as a crucial philosophy in the theory of TCM, will be guiding the development of ITCM. On the other hand, a comprehensive discussion of the benefits of such a holistic view of ITCM is lacking. To this end, we conduct this survey by introducing the named holistic view first. Then, adaptive learning and field theory will be presented and discussed with respect to their application in ITCM. Ethical issues of ITCM will then be taken into account by human-centered TCM and potentials based on affective computing of ITCM. In addition, we give our opinions and insights on the challenges and open issues regarding the future of ITCM. We hope that this survey article can be a good guide for experts in the relevant fields

    Efficacy and safety of radiofrequency ablation versus surgical sympathectomy in palmar hyperhidrosis

    Abstract Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) comparative efficacy of treatments using video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathectomy (VATS) in the long term remains uncertain in patients with palmar hyperhidrosis (PHH). This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of RFA and VATS in patients with PHH. We recruited patients aged ≥ 14 years with diagnosed PHH from 14 centres in China. The treatment options of RFA or VATS were assigned to two cohort in patients with PHH. The primary outcome was the efficacy at 1-year. A total of 807 patients were enrolled. After propensity score matching, the rate of complete remission was lower in RFA group than VATS group (95% CI 0.21–0.57; p < 0.001). However, the rates of palmar dryness (95% CI 0.38–0.92; p = 0.020), postoperative pain (95% CI 0.13–0.33; p < 0.001), and surgery-related complications (95% CI 0.19–0.85; p = 0.020) were lower in RFA group than in VATS group, but skin temperature rise was more common in RFA group (95% CI 1.84–3.58; p < 0.001). RFA had a lower success rate than VATS for the complete remission of PHH. However, the symptom burden and cost are lower in patients undergoing RFA compared to those undergoing VATS.
