A new monoclinic polymorph of 3-diethylamino-4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,1-dioxo-4H-1λ6,2-thiazete-4-carbonitrile
A new monoclinic form of the title compound, C14H17N3O3S, has been found upon slow crystallization from water. Another monoclinic form of the compound was obtained previously from a mixture of dichloromethane and diethyl ether [Clerici et al. (2002 ▶). Tetrahedron, 58, 5173–5178]. Both phases crystallize in space group P21/n with one molecule in the asymmetric unit. The formally single exocyclic C—N bond that connects the –NEt2 unit with the thiazete ring is considerably shorter than the adjacent, formally double, endocyclic C=N bond. This is likely to be due to the extended conjugated system between the electron-donor diethylammine fragment and the electron-withdrawing sulfonyl group. In the newly discovered polymorph, the methoxy group is rotated by almost 180° around the phenyl–OCH3 bond, resulting in a different molecular conformation
DesyreML: a SysML profile for heterogeneous embedded systems
International audienceWe propose a novel language for the formal description of heterogeneous embedded systems (DesyreML). As the main contribution, the language is formally described in terms of semantics and concrete syntax based on the SysML language. We define the concept of thick connector to allow for heterogeneous components communication and computation for multiple semantic domains (synchronous reactive, continuous time, discrete time, discrete-event). As technological application, a verification flow based on model-transformation techniques is described showing the use of an enriched version of the SystemC-AMS simulation kernel that is capable of simulating heterogeneous systems containing combinatorial loops. Finally, the language and the analysis flow are applied to a cruise control case study
Levels of processing: the evolution of a framework
Although the levels of processing framework have evolved over its nearly 40 years of existence, the essence of the idea has not changed from the original. The original article published in 1972 suggests that in the encoding stage of a stimulus, there is a series of processing hierarchies ranging from the shallowest level (perceptual processing-the subject initially perceives the physical and sensory characteristics of the stimulus) to the deepest level (semantic processing-related to pattern recognition and extraction of meaning). The depth processing is associated with high levels of retention and long-term memory traces. After extensive research and criticism, the authors added several concepts that aided in a better understanding of levels of processing framework and the items that subjects can recall such as transfer-appropriate processing and robust encoding. However, there are still some gaps in this framework that call for new scientific investigations, ranging from experimental paradigms with lists of words with healthy or pathological conditions subject to neuroimaging studies to confirm, refute or improve the framework. The aim of this article is to review the publications (articles and book chapters) dating from the original article to the present day to better understand the mnemonic process in terms of levels of processing and to highlight some of its contributions.Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq)Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)UNIFESPSciEL
A New Control Strategy to Integrate Flow Batteries into AC Micro-Grids with High Wind Power Penetration
The penetration of wind generation into AC micro-grids (MGs) has been increasing in recent years. Wind generation is uncontrollable, variable in nature, and uncertain. If the penetration level is high, the random variations of the wind power generation could cause problems for MGs to maintain the nominal system frequency. A typical solution is to employ energy storage systems (ESS) into the MG in order to compensate the wind power fluctuations. In this chapter, the use of a vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) coupled with a power conditioning system (PCS) is suggested to enhance the frequency stability of a MG with high wind power penetration. A new control system is developed for the PCS/VRFB. The control system performs the load leveling of the wind generation and carries out the primary and secondary frequency control of the MG. Dynamic simulations of the proposed device are performed and demonstrate that the new control system improves the transient responses of the PCS/VRFB and the MG, during minor and/or severe disturbances

The Geological and Paleontological Museum of the National University of Comahue
However, the effort made by their members allowed sustaining its activities since its foundation in 1976. The foundation of Proyecto Dino in 2002, on the coast of Los Barreales lake, at 90 km northwest of Neuquén city, signaled a new phase in the history of the Geological and Paleontological Museum, integrating the museum with an incredible area with cretaceous outcrops. Cretaceous fossil reptiles are a fundamental part of the collection of the Geological and Paleontological Museum of the National University of Comahue, which includes 30 holotypes and more than 2,000 paleovertebrates, paleobotanic, and paleoinvertebrates specimens.Fil: Calvo, Jorge Orlando. Reverse logistics in são Sebastião and Ilha Bela handmade breweries: advantages and challenges
This article describes the advantages and challenges faced by the handmade beer producers of São Sebastião and Ilhabela regarding the use of reverse logistics in their production processes. It begins with a review of the growing demand of handmade breweries and the need to refine their logistical processes. The following is a referenced description of reverse logistics and how it has become an important competitive differential in the reduction of waste disposal in the environment and its consequent reduction in costs. Analyzing what types and to what extent production control is performed and how the use of reverse logistics is faced, through bibliographic research and case studies. For this purpose, questionnaires were carried out with handmade beer producers and it was possible to conclude which advantages and challenges can be faced by producers in the reverse logistics between them, the advantages in the reduction of costs and the aggregation of socio-environmental value, and the disadvantages such as financial unfeasibility and difficulties in obtaining packaging
Schizophyllum leprieurii and the Schizophyllum umbrinum lineage (Agaricales, Basidiomycota) in Argentina
During the survey of wood decaying fungi in NW and Central Argentina, particular collections of Schizophyllum were found that macromorphologically (small brown basidiomata with orange-brown lamellae) resemble Schizophyllum umbrinum. On the basis of molecular evidence (ITS and LSU rDNA sequence analysis) and micromorphological examination it was found that they represent two species: Schizophyllum leprieurii Linder and Schizophyllum cf. umbrinum. Schizophyllum leprieurii Linder is a new record for Argentina and represents the southernmost and an extra tropical record of the species. Our results showed that S. leprieurii and S. cf. umbrinum are monophyletic within the Schizophyllum umbrinum linage, a group in need of modern taxonomic revisionFil: Robledo, Gerardo Lucio.
