Bifurcation of limit cycles in piecewise quadratic differential systems with an invariant straight line

Acord transformatiu CRUE-CSICWe solve the center-focus problem in a class of piecewise quadratic polynomial differential systems with an invariant straight line. The separation curve is also a straight line which is not invariant. We provide families having at the origin a weak-foci of maximal order. In the continuous class, the cyclicity problem is also solved, being 3 such maximal number. Moreover, for the discontinuous class but without sliding segment, we prove the existence of 7 limit cycles of small amplitude

Simultaneous bifurcation of limit cycles from a cubic piecewise center with two period annuli

We study the number of periodic orbits that bifurcate from a cubic polynomial vector field having two period annuli via piecewise perturbations. The cubic planar system (x',y')= (-y((x-1)² + y²),x((x-1)² + y²) has simultaneously a center at the origin and at infinity. We study, up to first order averaging analysis, the bifurcation of periodic orbits from the two period annuli first separately and second simultaneously. This problem is an generalization of PerTor2014 to the piecewise systems class. When the polynomial perturbation has degree n, we prove that the inner and outer Abelian integrals are rational functions and we provide an upper bound for the number of zeros. When the perturbation is cubic, the same degree than the unperturbed vector field, the maximum number of limit cycles, up to first order perturbation, from the inner and outer annuli is 9 and 8, respectively. But, when the simultaneous bifurcation problem is considered, 12 limit cycles exist. These limit cycles appear in three type of configurations: (9,3), (6,6) and (4,8). In the non-piecewise scenario only 5 limit cycles were found

O objetivo é compreender e questionar a caracterização dos cursos de graduação em Sistemas de Informação como cursos que têm a computação como "atividade-meio" em contraposição a outros que são classificados como cursos que têm a computação como "atividade-fim". Em particular são abordadas duas tensões: a escolha por um caminho brasileiro em contraposição ao modelo estrangeiro e a opção por um curso interdisciplinar em contraposição a um curso centrado nas ciências exatas.This article resumes moments of the path of construction of third-level courses in computer science in Brazil and abroad. The aim is to understand the characterization of undergraduate courses in Information Systems as courses that have “computation as a means” in contrast to other that are classified as courses that have “computation as an end”. As Instituições Municipais da Cidade do Rio Grande e suas Ações Setoriais no Âmbito do Lazer

Trabalho completo apresentado no IV SulBrasileiro de Ciências do EsporteO presente trabalho refere-se a uma pesquisa que tem como objetivo principal fazer um mapa da cidade do Rio Grande/RS que contenha as instituições, os programas e ações destinadas às políticas públicas setoriais de lazer. Para isso, utilizamos a análise de documentação de instituições públicas encarregadas de ações no âmbito do lazer, bem como um levantamento nos locais e equipamentos destinados ao mesmo uso. Esperamos fazer esse grande mapa da cidade apontando as ações que constituem a política de lazer do município, bem como fazer propostas de implementação de políticas de lazer para o governo municipal.Ministério do Esport

Cotas e Graduação em Tecnologias: Diagnóstico de uma graduação concebida e implementada em tempos de ações afirmativas

Law 12711, known as the Quota Law, which establishes the reservation of places in Public Higher Education in Brazil will complete a decade in 2022, and is now subject to revision. The possibility of altering one of the most notable mechanisms of democratization of higher education indicates the urgency of understanding the results obtained in its ten years of existence. From a historical perspective, this article reports the conjuncture of the implementation of the law, taking as a reference the professional education in technologies and exact sciences, a field of knowledge where the social debate is not presented as content nor is it usually present in everyday discussions. There is a great misunderstanding about the need for the law and its restorative effectiveness. Despite the short period of validity of the law, the preliminary analysis of student performance in the Bachelor of Information Systems points to results that so far corroborate the effects of the law as transforming the structural condition of society by democratizing access and guaranteeing permanence.La Ley 12.711, conocida como Ley de Cuotas, que establece la reserva de plazas en la Educación Superior Pública en Brasil cumplirá una década en 2022, y ahora está sujeta a revisión. La posibilidad de alterar uno de los más notables mecanismos de democratización de la educación superior indica la urgencia de comprender los resultados obtenidos en sus diez años de existencia. Desde una perspectiva histórica, este artículo relata la coyuntura de la implementación de la ley, tomando como referencia la formación profesional en tecnologías y ciencias exactas, campo del saber donde el debate social no se presenta como contenido ni suele estar presente en la cotidianidad. Hay un gran malentendido sobre la necesidad de la ley y su eficacia restauradora. A pesar del corto período de vigencia de la ley, el análisis preliminar del desempeño de los estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Sistemas de Información apunta a resultados que hasta el momento corroboran los efectos de la ley como transformadora de la condición estructural de la sociedad al democratizar el acceso y garantizar la permanencia.A Lei 12.711, conhecida por Lei de Cotas que estabelece a reserva de vagas nas no Ensino Superior Público no Brasil completará uma década em 2022, estando agora sujeita à revisão. A possibilidade de alteração em um dos mais notáveis mecanismos de democratização do ensino superior indica a urgência na compreensão dos resultados obtidos em seus dez anos de vigência. Partindo de uma perspectiva histórica, este artigo relata a conjuntura de efetivação da lei tomando como referencial o ensino profissional em tecnologias e ciências exatas, um campo de saber onde o debate social não se apresenta como conteúdo e nem tampouco costuma estar presente nas discussões cotidianas. Observa-se a grande incompreensão a respeito da necessidade da lei e de sua eficácia reparadora. Apesar do curto período de vigência da lei, a análise preliminar do desempenho discente no Bacharelado em Sistemas de Informação aponta resultados que até o momento corroboram os efeitos da lei como transformadora da condição estrutural da sociedade pela democratização do acesso e garantia da permanência

The effectiveness of research and development in Information Systems depends and influences the social processes that unfold in their environment. We argue here that the field of Information Systems needs to build its identity with (not for) society. This means a process of co-construction that requires reflection on the social context at all levels, starting with the curriculum design and functional organization of the courses. We present the process of construction of the undergraduate course on Information Systems at the Federal Fluminense University highlighting the commitment to social responsibility, the contributions resulting from the choice of night teaching and the dialogical interaction with the labour market.A efetivação das pesquisas e desenvolvimentos em Sistemas de Informação (SI) depende e influencia os processos sociais que se desenrolam em seu ambiente de implantação e entornos. Argumentamos que o campo de SI precisa construir sua identidade com (e não para) a sociedade. Isto significa um processo de co-construção que requer refletir sobre a conjuntura social em todos os níveis, a começar pela concepção dos currículos e organização funcional dos cursos. New lower bound for the Hilbert number in piecewise quadratic differential systems

We study the number of limit cycles bifurcating from a piecewise quadratic system. All the differential systems considered are piecewise in two zones separated by a straight line. We prove the existence of 16 crossing limit cycles in this class of systems. If we denote by H (n) the extension of the Hilbert number to degree n piecewise polynomial differential systems, then H (2)≥16. As fas as we are concerned, this is the best lower bound for the quadratic class. Moreover, in the studied cases, all limit cycles appear nested bifurcating from a period annulus of a isochronous quadratic center

Influence of colony size and season on the honey bee (Apis mellifera L.) worker hypopharyngeal gland development and lifetime.

The influence of season and type of colony on the development of the hypopharyngeal glands of Apis mellifera workers was investigated in the present study. Three types of colony were observed: strong (with a population of about 50.000 bees), median (about 20.000 bees) and weak (about 3.000 bees). The results showed that the average of worker lifetime is longer in the more populous colonies and in times of higher temperatures, nevertheless the weak colonies were more susceptible to the weather conditions than the strong ones. CONCORDANCE BETWEEN CLINICAL AND HISTOPATHOLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL LESIONS

Introduction: The agreement between clinical and histopathological diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial lesions remains a source of controversy. Objective: To evaluate the concordance between clinical and histopathological diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial lesions. Methods: Socio-demographic and clinical data were prospectively obtained from patients evaluated at outpatient clinics of a Brazilian research hospital. Morphological and histopathological findings of biopsied oral and maxillofacial lesions were utilized as the “gold standard” and the concordance status with prior clinical hypotheses was compared using the Pearson's chi-squared test at a 5% significance level. Results: Non-neoplastic proliferative processes were the most frequent type of lesion (29.6%) and posterior mandible was the most common location (20.73%). Clinical and histological correlation was high (78%), whereas most lesions were not found to be associated with age, gender or concordance status (P > 0.05). Conclusion: A high level of agreement between clinical and histopathological diagnosis was shown, but the quality of oral diagnosis should be continuously evaluated.Keywords: Oral pathology.
