Alternatives to colonization and marginal identities in New Kingdom colonial Nubia (1550–1070 BCE)

Material culture worked as an essential supporting pillar of the ancient Egyptian colonization of Nubia. During the New Kingdom colonial period (1550–1070 BCE), the material culture of various colonial sites in Nubia consisted of a majority of Egyptian-style objects (including both imported and locally produced objects). Egyptian-style objects materialized foreign presence in local contexts and allowed communities to negotiate identities and positions in a colonial situation. However, far from homogenizing local realities, objects performed different roles in local contexts. This sheds light on the social dimensions of culture contacts in colonial situations and allows us to identify how the local adoption and uses of foreign objects in local contexts produces marginality in the colony

The thesis aims to analyze the evolution of the Brazilian Educational System, taking into account its historical context, considering the presence of its legislative norms and social educational policies staggered, as well as to understand formal education through the Ministry of Education as the major body of education the National Education Policy-PNE, the State of Pará-PEP Plan, the Federal Council of Education-CFE and the State Board of Education, analyzing aspects of origin and evolution with the educational practice of the teachers of the state schools of the city of Santarém, taking into account milestones from (1549 to 2017), in order to promote the so-called quality public education, universal, citizenship to students and dignity to teachers at local level, according to the Constitution Faith and the Law of Guidelines and Bases of Education. Starting from the central objective, to confront the documentary analysis of the Brazilian Educational Legislation (Federal and State) with the educational practice of the teachers of the state school units of Santarém (Urban Zone) and as the specific objectives. The methodology used in this project work was qualitative, resulting from a bibliographical research and legislative findings in its national, state and local instances (Pedagogical Political Project - PPP of schools), and as a technique in the search of data were chosen, 1 questionnaire with closed and open questions divided into topics: 1. Sociobiographical data 2. Knowledge of the Educational Systems 3. SEDUC-Pa competence 4. Practice in Schools, applied in a universe composed of 40 teachers from two State Schools of the city of Santarém: State School of Elementary and Middle School Frei Ambrósio and State School of Elementary and Middle School Tavares Leal. Both schools with their particular, historical, social and financial peculiarities that directly reflect on the progress of students' learning and consequently on the educational practices of teachers

A sustainable production of natural hydraulic lime mortars through bio-amendment

    Get PDF
.This article examined the effect of a bioproduct suspension obtained from fermentation of biodiesel’s crude glycerol when used to formulate natural hydraulic lime mortars, as a fluid replacing the mixing water. The bioproduct was used either sonicated or non-sonicated and two volumes of mixing fluid were tested. The aim was to assess the advantages and drawbacks that could be achieved with a waste-based bioproduct, instead of petrochemical-based additions. The investigation revealed a positive effect on workability, producing mortars with a lower mixing fluid content, improving the mechanical performance. Finally, the bioproducts reduced the mortar water absorption by gravity and capillary.S

    Biodegradable Polymers on Cementitious Materials

[EN] Nowadays the sustainability and safety requirements of structures inspire the study of new self-healing materials and preventive repair methods on cementitious elements. To achieve this undertaking, this research replaces widely employed synthetic polymers by biodegradable ones as consolidants and water-repellents, and assesses the protection and consolidation effect of biopolymers (obtained by using waste biomass of mixed microbial cultures from polyhydroxyalkanoates production processes) as eco-friendly healing agents by analysing the water absorption of two kind of materials. The first group of samples are cement mortar specimens whose external surface has been treated with biopolymer products and subsequently evaluated by water drop absorption test. The second group of samples are cement mortar specimens formulated with biopolymer products included in its mixing water and later the waterproofing efficiency is analysed by capillary water absorption tests. The water absorption behaviour of both kind of samples shows a potential improvement of cementitious elements durability, since water absorption results have decreased for treated samples in comparison with untreated one
