-Uniqueness of Generalized SCHR\"Odinger Operators
The main purpose of this paper is to show that the generalized Schr\"odinger
operator , , is
a pre-generator for which we can prove its -uniqueness.
Moreover, we prove the -uniqueness of weak solutions for the
Fokker-Planck equation associated with this pre-generator
-uniqueness of Schr\"odinger operators restricted in an open domain
Consider the Schr\"odinger operator acting on
space , where is an open domain in . The main purpose
of this paper is to present the -uniqueness for Schr\"odinger
operators which is equivalent to the -uniqueness of weak solutions
of the heat diffusion equation associated to the operator
Domains of uniqueness for -semigroups on the dual of a Banach space
Let be a Banach space. In general, for a
-semigroup \semi on , its adjoint semigroup \semia
is no longer strongly continuous on the dual space . Consider on the topology of uniform
convergence on compact subsets of denoted by , for which the usual semigroups in literature
becomes -semigroups. The main purpose of this paper is to prove that only
a core can be the domain of uniqueness for a -semigroup on . As application, we show that the
generalized Schr\"odinger operator , , is -unique. Moreover, we
prove the -uniqueness of weak solution for the Fokker-Planck
equation associated with
Uniqueness of a pre-generator for -semigroup on a general locally convex vector space
The main purpose is to generalize a theorem of Arendt about uniqueness of
-semigroups from Banach space setting to the general locally convex vector
spaces, more precisely, we show that cores are the only domains of uniqueness
for -semigroups on locally convex spaces. As an application, we find a
necessary and sufficient condition for that the mass transport equation has one
unique weak solution
Two Bit Circus
Two Bit Circus collaborated with the Girl Scouts of the Greater Los Angeles Area to explore the exciting world of wearable electronics. Over the course of the program, the students explored concepts of introductory electronics while designing and creating their own illuminated fashion piece. The program was held in Montrose, CA in Fall 2013. The students were approximately 10 girls ages seven to 14. The program was held over seven sessions with each session lasting 80 minutes
The role of alcohol in identity construction among LGBT people: a qualitative study
Research suggests that alcohol use and misuse are higher among lesbian, gay and bisexual than heterosexual populations, yet the social context of drinking in sexual minority communities has rarely been examined. To explore lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people's relationship with alcohol, we conducted seven focus groups (N = 33) with pre-existing groups of friends and work colleagues (18 to 52 years) in Scotland, UK. We identified and analysed patterns in our data using thematic analysis. Respondents perceived heavy drinking as central to the commercial gay scene. Choice of drink and drinking vessel was an important part of identity construction. Respondents discussed the perception that gay men would drink alcopops and cocktails while lesbians would drink pints of beer. Even when stereotypes were dismissed as inaccurate, they were still thought to pressure people to drink ‘appropriately’. Respondents who did not identify as male or female, and those who used drag, were particularly aware of their choice of drink as a means to express identity or to challenge people's preconceptions about gender. Researchers developing interventions to reduce alcohol-related harm in sexual minority populations need to take account of the central role of identity construction in LGBT drinking practices
Increasingly from the nineties, studies of animal and humancognition are based on an architecture of minds composed ofmultiple modules, genetically determined, and designed forcertain specific cognitive tasks. Noam Chomsky’s work waspioneer in adopting this kind of outlook in studies about humanlanguage capacity. In spite of abundant evidence and carefulargumentation, innatist and modularist theories of cognitionin animals and humans remain undisclosed and locked in theaccademic universe. Here I will show a few examples of studiesof animal behavior that follow the logic of principles andparameters. I will also comment on modules of human cognitionthat are being fruitfully studied and well understood. Whatcauses the social encapsulation of this sort of information isthe question left for debate
