[EN] Many current system-on-chip (SoC) devices are composed of low-power multicore processors combined with a small graphics accelerator (or GPU) offering a trade-off between computational capacity and low-power consumption. In this context, spatial audio methods such as wave field synthesis (WFS) can benefit from a distributed system composed of several SoCs that collaborate to tackle the high computational cost of rendering virtual sound sources. This paper aims at evaluating important aspects dealing with a distributed WFS implementation that runs over a network of Jetson Nano boards composed of embedded GPU-based SoCs: computational performance, energy efficiency, and synchronization issues. Our results show that the maximum efficiency is obtained when the WFS system operates the GPU frequency at 691.2 MHz, achieving 11 sources-per-Watt. Synchronization experiments using the NTP protocol show that the maximum initial delay of 10 ms between nodes does not prevent us from achieving high spatial sound quality. This work has been supported by the Spanish Government through TIN2017-82972-R, ESP2015-68245-C4-1-P, the Valencian Regional Government through PROMETEO/2019/109 and the Universitat Jaume I through UJI-B2019-36.Belloch, JA.; Badía, JM.; Larios, DF.; Personal, E.; Ferrer Contreras, M.; Fuster Criado, L.; Lupoiu, M.... This research aimed to find out the current state of the artisanal production process of alpaca fiber yarn in the department of Puno, Peru. To that end, a descriptive and exploratory study was carried out, having as unit of analysis the alpaqueros (alpaca breeders), artisans, medium-scale producers and some textile managers. A documentary research was conducted to obtain qualitative and quantitative data on the production of alpaca yarn. In 2019, field research was carried out to collect the data directly from the alpaquero communities, thus obtaining information on the methods of the production process of alpaca fiber yarn. It was concluded that the artisanal production of alpaca yarn mainly maintains a handmade process. However, small machines such as opening machines and spinning machines, which consist of simple mechanical devices, have been incorporated in the production process to reduce the fiber production time and to improve the yarn quality.

Being aware of contemporary social dynamics, where we bypass our growing consumerist tendencies and ignore temporality, we have been guided by curiosity tied to becoming. Completely ignoring the consequences of the social model of consumption; where pollution, poverty, programmed obsolescence and many other problems are embodied. Taking into account this context, the proposal seeks to express the productive character that built the city we know today and that has always been present in the landscape. Where through architecture is promoted the appropriation and longevity of these places. That is why, in a city like Barrancabermeja, where the concept of consumption is materialized with large-scale industrial production, it is pertinent to look for alternatives so that, once such production is completed, the infrastructure is able to adapt to the new spatial needs required, thus avoiding renouncing the structural benefits and legacy that the refinery carries in the municipality.Arquitecto (a)Pregrad

Nanostructured catalysts of platinum (Pt) supported on commercial TiO2, as well as TiO2-CeO2 (1, 5 and 10 wt% CeO2), were synthesized through the Sol-Gel and impregnation method doped to 1 wt% of Platinum, in order to obtain a viable photocatalytic material able to oxidate organic pollutants under the visible light spectrum. The materials were characterized by different spectroscopy and surface techniques such as Specific surface area (BET), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), XRD, and TEM. The results showed an increase in the diameter of the pore as well as the superficial area of the supports as a function of the CeO2 content. TEM images showed Pt nanoparticles ranking from 2–7 nm, a decrease in the particle size due to the increase of CeO2. The XPS showed oxidized Pt2+ and reduced Pt0 species; also, the relative abundance of the elements Ce3+/Ce4− and Ti4+ on the catalysts. Additionally, a shift in the Eg band gap energy (3.02–2.82 eV) was observed by UV–vis, proving the facticity of applying these materials in a photocatalytic reaction using visible light. Finally, all the synthesized materials were tested on their photocatalytic oxidation activity on a herbicide used worldwide; 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, frequently use in the agriculture in the state of Jalisco. The kinetics activity of each material was measured during 6 h of reaction at UV–Vis 190–400 nm, reaching a removal efficiency of 98% of the initial concentration of the pollutant in 6 h, compared to 32% using unmodified TiO2 in 6 h

Biofunctionalization of Endolysins with Oligosacharides: Formulation of Therapeutic Agents to Combat Multi-Resistant Bacteria and Potential Strategies for Their Application

    No full text
In the aquaculture sector, the biofunctionalization of biomaterials is discussed using materials from algae and analyzed as a possible potential strategy to overcome the challenges that hinder the future development of the application of endolysins in this field. Derived from years of analysis, endolysins have recently been considered as potential alternative therapeutic antibacterial agents, due to their attributes and ability to combat multi-resistant bacterial cells when applied externally. On the other hand, although the aquaculture sector has been characterized by its high production rates, serious infectious diseases have led to significant economic losses that persist to this day. Although there are currently interesting data from studies under in vitro conditions on the application of endolysins in this sector, there is little or no information on in vivo studies. This lack of analysis can be attributed to the relatively low stability of endolysins in marine conditions and to the complex gastrointestinal conditions of the organisms. This review provides updated information regarding the application of endolysins against multi-resistant bacteria of clinical and nutritional interest, previously addressing their important characteristics (structure, properties and stability). In addition, regarding the aquaculture sector, the biofunctionalization of biomaterials is discussed using materials from algae and analyzed as a possible potential strategy to overcome the challenges that hinder the future development of the application of endolysins in this field

A cross sectional study was performed on a sample of 410 patients with suspicion of prostate cancer, who underwent prostate biopsy, between January 2008 and April 2013, at the Clínica Universitaria Colombia. An evaluation was carried out on the operating characteristics, calibration curves, goodness of fit test, and a decision analysis for the risk calculator was created. These values were compared with the results obtained using the prostate specific antigen (PSA) test
