    Magneto-electrostatic trapping of ground state OH molecules

    We report the magnetic confinement of neutral, ground state hydroxyl radicals (OH) at a density of 3×103\sim3\times10^{3} cm3^{-3} and temperature of \sim30 mK. An adjustable electric field of sufficient magnitude to polarize the OH is superimposed on the trap in either a quadrupole or homogenous field geometry. The OH is confined by an overall potential established via molecular state mixing induced by the combined electric and magnetic fields acting on the molecule's electric dipole and magnetic dipole moments, respectively. An effective molecular Hamiltonian including Stark and Zeeman terms has been constructed to describe single molecule dynamics inside the trap. Monte Carlo simulation using this Hamiltonian accurately models the observed trap dynamics in various trap configurations. Confinement of cold polar molecules in a magnetic trap, leaving large, adjustable electric fields for control, is an important step towards the study of low energy dipole-dipole collisions.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

    We propose an alternative to the tree representation of extensive form games. Games in product form represent information with σ\sigma-fields over a product set, and do not require an explicit description of the play temporality, as opposed to extensive form games on trees. This representation encompasses games with a continuum of actions, randomness and players, as well as games for which the play order cannot be determined in advance. We adapt and prove Kuhn's theorem-regarding equivalence between mixed and behavioral strategies under perfect recall-for games in product form with continuous action sets

    We apply principles of positive organizational psychology to a hospitality inn and resort that seeks to focus on “positive hospitality” – the provision of immersive positive education and well-being to guests and employees alike. The Shawnee Institute aspires to serve as a bridge, linking the science of well-being with organizations across the globe. Integrating well-being throughout the Institute’s employees is desired to boost both employee and visitor experiences and distinguish the Institute from other resorts in the region as a destination, and as an employer. We propose an approach to the broad engagement with organizational well-being, discussing the role of cultural change and the needs of both full-time and seasonal employees. We recommend the use of the psychological capital framework to measure and improve well-being across all employees, and provide an implementation plan that includes immersive education for managers, a holistic appreciative inquiry kick-off for all employees, and well-being implementation exercises for on-boarding new employees. This work can assist other organizations, particularly those in the hospitality industry, that seek to improve the well-being of a diverse employee base

    Tissue tectonics and the multi-scale regulation of developmental timing.

    Development encompasses processes that occur at multiple length scales, including gene-regulatory interactions, cell movements and reorganization, cell signalling and growth. It is essential that the timing of events in all of these different processes is coordinated to generate well-patterned tissues and organs. However, how the timing of intrinsic cell state changes is coordinated with events occurring at the multi-tissue and whole-organism level is unknown. Here, we argue that an important mechanism that accounts for the integration of timing across levels of organization is provided by tissue tectonics, i.e. how morphogenetic events driving tissue shape changes result in the relative displacement of signalling and responding tissues and coordinate developmental timing across scales. In doing so, tissue tectonics provides a mechanism by which the cell specification events intrinsic to cells can be modulated by the temporal exposure to extracellular signals. This exposure is in turn regulated by higher-order properties of the embryo, such as their physical properties, rates of growth and the combination of dynamic cell behaviours, impacting tissue morphogenesis. Tissue tectonics creates a downward flow of information from higher to lower levels of biological organization, providing an instance of downward causation in development

    Campaña online de la reputación corporativa de Compassion International y su percepción en padrinos de CDV, San Isidro, Lima 2020

    En el Perú todavía no se ha considerado a las campañas en línea como un medio de creación e incremento de la reputación corporativa, por ello el presente trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar si existe relación entre la Campaña online de la reputación Corporativa de Compassion y su percepción en padrinos de CDV, San Isidro, Lima – 2020. Esta investigación tiene un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo básica con un carácter No Experimental, y de Tipo transeccional correlacionales – causales y su nivel de investigación fue explicativa. Se uso la encuesta como instrumento de recolección de datos con un grupo de 108 padrinos de CDV. El trabajo obtuvo un valor de 0,825 de Alfa de Cronbach es decir tiene una excelente confiabilidad, le cuestionario tuvo 16 preguntas y se usó el SPSS 25 para poder tener la información. Los resultados dieron a nota que si existe una relación entre la Campaña online de la reputación corporativa de Compassion y su percepción en padrinos de CDV. La conclusión nos da a entender que la influencia de los padrinos mediante medios digitales nos brinda una estrategia más eficaz de Marketing para fidelizar y captar padrinos mediante el one to one y el reconocimiento de la labor de la entidad

    Top partners and scalar dark matter -- a non-minimal reappraisal

    A large set of models beyond the Standard Model of particle physics suggest that the top quark plays a special role in fundamental interactions. At the same time some of these models predict that a particle responsible for dark matter is present in the physical spectrum of the theory, and in particular cases dark matter may be specially linked to the top sector. Such a new physics configuration occurs, for instance, in composite frameworks that additionally feature vector-like quarks as mediators of the interactions of the dark matter with the Standard Model. We investigate the interplay of top-philic dark matter and the presence of several vector-like top partners. Such a non-minimal setup with several vector-like fermions is typical of composite scenarios, and we make use of an effective model to study to which extent such non-minimality modifies the collider and cosmological phenomenology of the minimal model, the latter only including one vector-like mediator of the dark matter interactions with the Standard Model.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures. v2: discussion on collider constraints extende

    Near-Infrared Variability Study of the Central 2.3 arcmin x 2.3 arcmin of the Galactic Centre I. Catalog of Variable Sources

    We used four-year baseline HST/WFC3 IR observations of the Galactic Centre in the F153M band (1.53 micron) to identify variable stars in the central ~2.3'x2.3' field. We classified 3845 long-term (periods from months to years) and 76 short-term (periods of a few days or less) variables among a total sample of 33070 stars. For 36 of the latter ones, we also derived their periods (<3 days). Our catalog not only confirms bright long period variables and massive eclipsing binaries identified in previous works, but also contains many newly recognized dim variable stars. For example, we found \delta Scuti and RR Lyrae stars towards the Galactic Centre for the first time, as well as one BL Her star (period < 1.3 d). We cross-correlated our catalog with previous spectroscopic studies and found that 319 variables have well-defined stellar types, such as Wolf-Rayet, OB main sequence, supergiants and asymptotic giant branch stars. We used colours and magnitudes to infer the probable variable types for those stars without accurately measured periods or spectroscopic information. We conclude that the majority of unclassified variables could potentially be eclipsing/ellipsoidal binaries and Type II Cepheids. Our source catalog will be valuable for future studies aimed at constraining the distance, star formation history and massive binary fraction of the Milky Way nuclear star cluster.Comment: has been accepted to be published in MNRAS, 64 pages, 26 figures.
