Análise de deformação de uma barragem de terra instrumentada com uso de dois modelos constitutivos

Nela estão contidos diversos instrumentos de monitoramento tais como placas de recalque, inclinômetros, marcos superficiais e piezômetros. Dispõe-se de ensaios triaxiais do tipo adensado e não drenado, nos diversos materiais da barragem. Os dados dos ensaios foram tratados e analisados em utilizando dois modelos constitutivos: elastoplástico e hiperbólico. A análise forneceu parâmetros que alimentou o programa computacional SIGMA/W, no qual foram simuladas as deformações dos materiais com as condições de contorno da barragem. A partir da comparação entre os valores da simulação e as deformações medidas em campo foram obtidos os parâmetros dos dois modelos constitutivos.Abstract: This work has been developed based on results from laboratory tests and instrumentation data from a soil dam built for storing tailing. Assorted monitoring instruments such as settlement plates, inclinometers, piezometers and surface landmarks are set up in the dam. Consolidated and undrained triaxal tests have been provided on the various dam materials. The test data were treated and analyzed based on two constitutive models: elastoplastic and hyperbolic. The analysis has provided parameters to be input into the SIGMA/W computer program, which simulated all the material deformation with the dam contour conditions. Os verbos de transporte aprefixados com weg- : uma análise contrastiva de dados produzidos por informantes alemães e brasileiros

This paper examines four German transportation verbs with the prefix weg-, concentrating on their syntax and their semantic and pragmatic interpretations. The empirical data investigated are from across-linguistic Corpus of German and Brazilian Portuguese as foreign languages. The analysis is based on the concept of focus, which is defined as a point on the path along which the patient of the process moves. The focus must be either mentioned or contextually evident. Each transportation verb will be able to establish a typical focus. German prefix-verbs with weg- are characterized by a focus-conflict that can be resolved through different interpretation strategies.Der vorliegende Aufsatz untersucht vier deutsche Transportverben mit dem Präfix weg- hinsichtlich ihrer Syntax sowie ihrer semantischen und pragmatischen Interpretationen. Die analysierten empirischen Daten stammen aus einem kontrastiven Korpus des Deutschen und des brasilianischen Portugiesisch als Fremdsprachen. Die Analyse gründet sich auf das Konzept des Fokus, der definiert wird als ein Punkt auf dem vom Patiens des Prozesses durchlaufenen Weg. Der Fokus muß entweder erwähnt werden oder kontextuell evident sein. Jedes Transportverb besitzt die Fähigkeit, einen typischen Fokus zu etablieren. Deutsche Präfixverben mit weg- sind durch einen Fokuskonflikt gekennzeichnet, der durch verschiedene Interpretationsstrategien aufgelöst werden kann

Challenges on Converting an Upright Ice-Cream Freezer from R404a to R290 Complying with 150g Refrigerant Charge Restriction

Glass door vertical refrigeration systems for commercial applications located in places with an elevated flux of people throughout the day have a high door opening rate, turning the maintenance of the inner temperatures below -18°C a huge challenge. Usually evaporators with wide surface area are used in order to improve the heat exchange, demanding greater refrigerant charge. Other factors, namely the evaporator’s heat exchange efficiency loss caused by the ice formation between fins and the power supply oscillations, contribute to the system’s capacity losses, affecting the fresh food flavor and preservation time as well as the end customer’s expectation.  The present work shows the results obtained through the optimization and conversion of vertical ice-cream freezer from R404a to R290 with limit of 150 g. The use of variable cooling capacity compressor and system component’s optimization were fundamental to reach the operation requirements and maintain the internal temperature even in critical operating conditions as door opening tests, with extra benefit of energy consumption reduction

Lesões pré-malignas do esôfago e câncer precoce: considerações sobre o tratamento

Esophageal cancer is epidemiologically important in our community. Alcohol consumption, tobacco use, and gastroesophageal reflux are among the well-establishedrisk factors for the development of cancer. Predisposing conditions such as Barrett’s esophagus, achalasia, caustic strictures and pre-malignant lesions of the esophaguslead to a higher risk for esophageal cancer and, thus, require increased attention. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment of these conditions may yield an increase in survival rates and a decrease in morbidity and mortality. The objective of this paper is to present a few considerations on the modalities of treatment for precursor lesions and superficial cancer.O câncer de esôfago é uma doença epidemiologicamente importante em nosso meio. O consumo de álcool, o tabagismo e o refluxo gastroesofágico estão entre os fatores de risco bem estabelecidos para o desenvolvimento de câncer. As condições prédeterminantes como o esôfago de Barrett, acalasia, estreitamento cáustico e lesões pré-malignas do esôfago apresentam um risco mais elevado para o câncer de esôfago. Estas lesões, portanto, merecem uma maior atenção. O diagnóstico precoce e o tratamento imediato podem permitir uma melhora na sobrevida e uma redução na morbidade e na mortalidade. Biologia molecular dos tumores do trato digestivo

Uma revolução no entendimento da gênese do câncer humano vem acontecendo, e sua natureza fundamentalmente genética foi reconhecida. Os cânceres gastrointestinais apresentam alta incidência e prognóstico reservado na maioria dos casos quando da sua apresentação em nosso meio. Espera-se que a biologia molecular traga novos caminhos para o diagnóstico e tratamento mais efetivos. No nosso trabalho, são abordados os aspectos atuais da carcinogênese colorretal, esofágica e gástrica, bem como os genes e seus sub-produtos (proteínas) envolvidos. As implicações clínicas destes novos conhecimentos, como as aplicações no diagnóstico precoce, a existência de marcadores prognósticos e a possibilidade de novos tratamentos, são discutidos.Remarkable improvements in the understanding of the development of human cancer and of its genetic nature have been reported. In this sense, it is expected that molecular biology studies will bring new hope for more effective diagnostic and treatment methods. Consequently, it is our objective to address the current aspects on colorectal, gastric, and esophageal carcinogenesis and the genes and products involved. Inclusive clothing design: workshops based on case studies

Inclusive clothing design emerges from users’ need to use products to their fullest. Despite being a segment with a wide variety of models, the great dysfunctionality of uses for people with movement restrictions still shows. Discussing this situation with designers is necessary to change perspectives toward inclusion when approaching unconventional scenarios in product development. For a preliminary approach to the subject, workshops can generate reflections for inclusive product development from the perspective of dressing-related problems. For this purpose, workshops were held at IDEGUI in Guimarães (Portugal) on practical approaches to discuss ideas and create inclusive alternatives. The results of the discussion were proposals like alternatives for the clothing market. These proposals can already be found in the clothing market, but still, the results are not entirely obsolete since they were not presented as an option from the beginning. The participants’ interest, added to previous experiences, brought exciting complements to the discussion and dissemination of inclusive clothing design through a systemic perception of product development
