My culminating experience will be a live performance demonstrating new skills I have acquired during my time at Berklee Valencia form Fall 2014 to Summer 2015. The work is as follows: • Live Performance – Original songs from newly released EP on Berklee’s Disrupcion Records. • Writing, producing, recording, mixing, and mastering five (5) original songs, in conjunction with band members, released on Berklee’s Disrupcion Records. • Custom 3D Projection Mapping Structure designed using Sketchup CAD modeling software. • Creation of visual performance interface using Adobe Premier, Adobe After Effects, and Resolume • Live controller and MIDI Interface (Orbit)https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-production-technology/1010/thumbnail.jp

Factors that Influence the Prevalence of Food Allergy in Children Born in Industrialized Countries vs. Developing Countries: A Literature Review & Feasibility Study

    Get PDF
Background Food allergy (FA) is known to be more prevalent in industrialized countries compared to developing countries. FA is a chronic disease that can cause a range of symptoms from regional urticaria to lethal anaphylaxis. FA affects 10% of the general population and is more common in children, affecting 8% of children versus 3% of adults (Seth, D. et al., 2020). It is unclear why food allergy is more common in industrialized countries versus developing countries. Research Question What are the influential factors that affect the increasing incidence of food allergy in toddlers born in industrialized countries versus those that are born in developing countries? Is there a promising future for food allergy prevention? Literature Review â—Ź Children born in urban areas of a country are more likely to develop food allergies, compared to those born in rural areas. â—Ź Environment has more impact on the development of FA compared to genetics. â—Ź Early food introduction is a safe and effective method in preventing the development of FA. â—Ź Food allergy prevalence and trends are based on statistics collected from industrialized countries. Currently, there is a lack of food allergy prevalence studies performed in developing countries. Research Study â—Ź Purpose: To determine the feasibility of collecting epidemiological data on food allergy prevalence in a developing countries and to help fill a significant gap in food allergy research â—Ź Population: Toddlers of developing countries (city in the Philippines) â—Ź Objective: Determine food allergy prevalence trends in a Philippine city â—Ź Study design: Mixed methods, cross-sectional â—Ź Study method: Survey Clinical Significance â—Ź Identifying the influential factors of food allergy prevalence can aid in the prevention of food allergy. â—Ź Collecting data about the experiences of families with food allergies can assist nurses in guiding children and their parents in overcoming the challenges of living with food allergy

Application of Rapid Climate Decision Analysis in Valuing Seasonal Climate Forecast for Corn Farmers in Albay, Philippines

    Get PDF
There have been notable advancements in the capabilities to generate seasonal climate forecasts to the level of generating accurate information in a cost-effective manner. One such tool is the SARAI [Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry in the Philippines] Enhanced Agricultural Monitoring System (SEAMS) that can generate climate information using open source software and remotely sensed images from different satellites. Innovations such as SEAMS allow for better access to seasonal climate information by ordinary farmers. This paper aims to determine the economic value of seasonal climate forecasts in a climate-sensitive corn farming decision using the Rapid Climate Decision Analysis (RCDA) tool. Results from the RCDA showed that farmers are worse off by about PhP 6370 per hectare if they continue planting with a very dry forecast. The RCDA results together with the farm and farmer characteristics imply that decision makers could implement campaigns to forego farming during seasons with very dry to severely dry forecasts for similar farmers. Policy implications and recommendations related to improving access and utilization of seasonal climate forecasts are discussed in the paper

Departmentalization for Mathematics: Is It Beneficial for Teachers, Students, and Teacher Candidates?

    Get PDF
Studies have shown that both the departmentalized and self-contained models of instruction can help students achieve strong mathematics scores on standardized tests, and school administrators must consider their teachers and students when deciding on an instructional model. However, little research has considered the effect of the instructional model on initial license teacher candidates and school–university partnerships. Drawing from a Massachusetts college’s experience with practicum placements for elementary candidates pursing a generalist license (Grades 1–6), implications for teacher preparation programs are explored as more upper elementary classrooms move to a departmentalized model for mathematics

Development of Processing Techniques for Advanced Thermal Protection Materials

    Get PDF
During the period June 1, 1996 through May 31, 1997, the main effort has been in the development of materials for high temperature applications. Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) are constantly being tested and evaluated for thermal shock resistance, high temperature dimensional stability, and tolerance to environmental effects. Materials development was carried out by using many different instruments and methods, ranging from intensive elemental analysis to testing the physical attributes of a material. The material development concentrated on two key areas: (1) development of coatings for carbon/carbon composites, and (2) development of ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTC). This report describes the progress made in these two areas of research during this contract period
