Integrated Marketing Communication Project for American Aerogel

    Get PDF
This project created a marketing plan for a specific company “American Aerogel” to increase sales and to penetrate Clinical Research Organizations; thus, the project considered the comprehensive integrated marketing communication in the company. A survey was used to determine whether the marketing strategy selected for the project—direct marketing email—would be beneficial for the company to help it increase brand awareness in the clinical research field. More specifically, emailing a marketing campaign to a specific target audience is likely to increase results. Therefore, data from 150 surveys about email marketing was collected and analyzed to determine the usefulness of email marketing for American Aerogel. Findings indicated that Clinical Research Organizations were receptive to email marketing to initiate and continue a business relation. Also, the study found that using a specific target market could maximize email response speed rate and facilitate a prospective sale

The Impact of Firm Level Contracting on Wage Levels and Inequality: Spain 1995-2002

This paper provides microeconomic evidence on the variation over time of the firm-specific wage premium in Spain from 1995 to 2002, and its impact on wage inequality. We make use of two waves of a detailed linked employer-employee data set. In addition, a new data set with financial information on firms is used for 2002 to control as flexibly as possible for differences in the performance of firms (aggregated at industry level). To our knowledge, there is no microeconomic evidence on the dynamics of the firm-specific wage premium for Spain or for any other country with a similar institutional setting. Our results suggest that there is a clear tendency towards centralization in the collective bargaining process in Spain over this seven-year period, that the firm-level contract wage premium undergoes a substantial decrease, particularly for women, and finally that the "centralization" observed in the collective bargaining process has resulted in a slight decrease in wage inequality.wage inequality, firm level contracts, matched employer employee data

Kinematics of Herbig-Haro Objects and Jets in the Orion Nebula

We have surveyed the inner 5' of the Orion Nebula by means of Halpha and [NII] Fabry-Perot imaging spectroscopy to present a kinematical study of the Herbig-Haro objects in the nebula. The objects studied in this work are HH 202, 203, 204, 529, 269 and other associated features. For HH 202 we find new features that, because of their high velocities (up to 100 km/seg) indicate the presence of an outflow that probably is a HH flow not catalogued previously. HH 202 could be only a part of this larger outflow. Large internal motions are found in the fainter regions of HH 203-204, as well as evidence of transverse density gradients that could account for the asymmetry in the brightness distribution of HH 204. We report for the first time a high blueshifted velocity (-118 km/seg) associated with HH 204, and show that the apex of HH 204 is indeed the zone of maximum velocity, in agreement with bow shock models. We also studied the radial velocity field of HH 269 finding features associated with the HH object. From our studies, we find kinematic evidence that suggests that HH 203-204 and HH 202 are part of a big (aprox. 0.55 pc) bipolar HH outflow.Comment: 24 pages, 10 figures (in three jpg files). This research correlational and cross-sectional, was conducted in order to determine the relationship between coping strategies and level of overload informal caregiver of the person with Alzheimer's. The study population consisted of 40 informal caregivers. 2 instruments were applied: one to identify the coping strategies and the second to identify the level of informal caregiver overload. We found that the most used strategies are coping: Troubleshooting 87.5%, 87.5% Desiderative Thinking and Cognitive Restructuring 80%. Regarding overload, we found that 40% have mild overload, not overload 32.5% and 27.5% greater burden. There is a significant relationship between Coping Strategies and Overload levelTesi

Functional analysis of Saccharomyces cerevisiae ribosomal protein Rpl3p in ribosome synthesis

Ribosome synthesis in eukaryotes requires a multitude of trans-acting factors. These factors act at many steps as the pre-ribosomal particles travel from the nucleolus to the cytoplasm. In contrast to the well-studied trans-acting factors, little is known about the contribution of the ribosomal proteins to ribosome biogenesis. Herein, we have analysed the role of ribosomal protein Rpl3p in 60S ribosomal subunit biogenesis. In vivo depletion of Rpl3p results in a deficit in 60S ribosomal subunits and the appearance of half-mer polysomes. This phenotype is likely due to the instability of early and intermediate pre-ribosomal particles, as evidenced by the low steady-state levels of 27SA3, 27SBS and 7SL/S precursors. Furthermore, depletion of Rpl3p impairs the nucleocytoplasmic export of pre-60S ribosomal particles. Interestingly, flow cytometry analysis indicates that Rpl3p-depleted cells arrest in the G1 phase. Altogether, we suggest that upon depletion of Rpl3p, early assembly of 60S ribosomal subunits is aborted and subsequent steps during their maturation and export prevented

Brewer, VanRaalte and Linder (1993) suggest the importance of studying the personality of athletes to understand athletic identity. Thus, the aim of this article focuses on studying the influence of the big 5 personality traits, together with age, gender and competitive level in athletic identity. Therefore, we used 215 participants from various sports and competitive levels. We use three measuring instruments, AIMS-plus, for athletic identity, the NEO-FFI-20 for the 5 personality traits and a purpose-built questionnaire to collect sociodemographic data of athletes. The results show the personality trait of extraversion and competitive level as the only two determinants of athletic identity.O estudo da configuração da identidade pessoal e a influência que tem a práctica desportiva nela, Brewer, Van Raalte e Linder (1993), sugerem a importância do estudo da personalidade do desportista na compreensão da identidade atlética.
