IRIS: A new generation of IRAS maps

The Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS) had a tremendous impact on many areas of modern astrophysics. In particular it revealed the ubiquity of infrared cirrus that are a spectacular manifestation of the interstellar medium complexity but also an important foreground for observational cosmology. With the forthcoming Planck satellite there is a need for all-sky complementary data sets with arcminute resolution that can bring informations on specific foreground emissions that contaminate the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation. With its 4 arcmin resolution matching perfectly the high-frequency bands of Planck, IRAS is a natural data set to study the variations of dust properties at all scales. But the latest version of the images delivered by the IRAS team (the ISSA plates) suffer from calibration, zero level and striping problems that can preclude its use, especially at 12 and 25 micron. In this paper we present how we proceeded to solve each of these problems and enhance significantly the general quality of the ISSA plates in the four bands (12, 25, 60 and 100 micron). This new generation of IRAS images, called IRIS, benefits from a better zodiacal light subtraction, from a calibration and zero level compatible with DIRBE, and from a better destriping. At 100 micron the IRIS product is also a significant improvement from the Schlegel et al. (1998) maps. IRIS keeps the full ISSA resolution, it includes well calibrated point sources and the diffuse emission calibration at scales smaller than 1 degree was corrected for the variation of the IRAS detector responsivity with scale and brightness. The uncertainty on the IRIS calibration and zero level are dominated by the uncertainty on the DIRBE calibration and on the accuracy of the zodiacal light model.Comment: 16 pages, 17 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ (Suppl). Cross-relaxation and phonon bottleneck effects on magnetization dynamics in LiYF4:Ho3+

Frequency and dc magnetic field dependences of dynamic susceptibility in diluted paramagnets LiYF4_4:Ho3+^{3+} have been measured at liquid helium temperatures in the ac and dc magnetic fields parallel to the symmetry axis of a tetragonal crystal lattice. Experimental data are analyzed in the framework of microscopic theory of relaxation rates in the manifold of 24 electron-nuclear sublevels of the lowest non-Kramers doublet and the first excited singlet in the Ho3+^{3+} ground multiplet 5I8^5I_8 split by the crystal field of S4_4 symmetry. The one-phonon transition probabilities were computed using electron-phonon coupling constants calculated in the framework of exchange charge model and were checked by optical piezospectroscopic measurements. The specific features observed in field dependences of the in- and out-of-phase susceptibilities (humps and dips, respectively) at the crossings (anti-crossings) of the electron-nuclear sublevels are well reproduced by simulations when the phonon bottleneck effect and the cross-spin relaxation are taken into account

QED radiative corrections to impact factors

    Get PDF
We consider the radiative corrections to the impact factors of electron and photon. According to a generalized eikonal representation the e\bar e scattering amplitude at high energies and fixed momentum transfers is proportional to the electron form factor. But we show that this representation is violated due to the presence of non-planar diagrams. One loop correction to the photon impact factor for small virtualities of the exchanged photon is obtained using the known results for the cross section of the e\bar e production at photon-nuclei interactions.Comment: 8 pp, plain LaTe

A comparative analysis of depressions with or without somatoform disorders in their structure was conducted. The most significant predictors of formation of internal aspect of the disease for patients of border psych ward are reviewed. The most common types of disease reactions regardless of the intensity of somatization of the depression are determined. Accounting of these data has substantial significance in choosing approaches to psychotherapeutics and rehabilitation of the patients with somatized depression

Relationship between depression and cardiovascular disease (review of literature)

The article deals with the important issue in the field of consultative psychiatry - comorbid depressive disorders in patients with cardiovascular diseases. Depression is highly prevalent in cardiac patients. Patients with coronary artery disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and those undergoing implantable cardioverter-defibrillator placement are at increased risk for elevated depressive symptoms and for major depressive disorder. In patients with heart diseases, depression is chronic, persistent, and associated with worse health-related quality of life, recurrent cardiac events, and mortality. At present, pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic interventions appear to be safe and effective at reducing depressive symptoms in patients with cardiovascular diseases and may impact cardiac outcomes. Despite this, depression remains under-recognized and undertreated in patients at risk for or living with cardiovascular diseases. In this review, we summarize the evidence linking depression to increased risk of cardiovascular diseases and worse patient outcomes. The paper presents a review of the literature on the physiologic mechanisms implicated in the connection between depression and cardiovascular diseases. Impaired adherence to health behaviors and adverse physiological effects of depression, including inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, platelet hyperactivity, and autonomic nervous system abnormalities, may link depression with adverse cardiac outcomes. Future studies in this direction with involvement of cardiologists and psychiatrists should be held

One-dimensional Model of a Gamma Klystron

A new scheme for amplification of coherent gamma rays is proposed. The key elements are crystalline undulators - single crystals with periodically bent crystallographic planes exposed to a high energy beam of charged particles undergoing channeling inside the crystals. The scheme consists of two such crystals separated by a vacuum gap. The beam passes the crystals successively. The particles perform undulator motion inside the crystals following the periodic shape of the crystallographic planes. Gamma rays passing the crystals parallel to the beam get amplified due to interaction with the particles inside the crystals. The term `gamma klystron' is proposed for the scheme because its operational principles are similar to those of the optical klystron. A more simple one-crystal scheme is considered as well for the sake of comparison. It is shown that the gamma ray amplification in the klystron scheme can be reached at considerably lower particle densities than in the one-crystal scheme, provided that the gap between the crystals is sufficiently large.Comment: RevTeX4, 22 pages, 4 figure

Active sanctions against Russia, including in the field of information technology, lead to a situation where the dependence of organizations on software products non-Russian origin may be a serious problem. Consequently, the task of analyzing the Russian software market, to which this article is devoted, seems relevant. The authors have reviewed one of the software classes – automation systems for real estate management, Computer Aided Facilities Management (hereinafter – CAFM-systems) in a foreign terminology. The article deals with the evaluation and ranking of software products, on the basis of which recommendations for their use in projects are formulated. For this purpose, a list has been formed consisting of twelve Russian CAFM-systems registered in the Unified Register of Russian Computer Programs and Databases; a set of evaluation parameters has been developed, divided into two groups – functional and non-functional parameters; an evaluation methodology using mathematical decision-making methods has been proposed; a group of experts has been formed; an expert evaluation and ranking of systems according to the developed methodology was conducted; a rating of systems with an indication of the companies-developers has been built. The results of the study show that the Russian market of CAFM-systems has been formed and provides customers interested in software products of this class with a fairly wide range of alternatives for choice. The conducted research, on the one hand, has practical value for specialists working with such software products, and, on the other hand, scientific value expressed in the proposed holistic methodology of market analysis, which can be extended to other types of software products by specifying a set of comparison parameters

Early and correct diagnosis of infective endocarditis (ie) of the right heart does not lose its importance due to the persistence of the problem of intravenous drug use and an increase in the number of surgical interventions on the heart. Septic pulmonary embolism (spe) is a typical sign of right-side ie, and, with a number of nonspecific respiratory symptoms in patients with fever, its detection by radiology allows to start a diagnostic search for ie and locate the primary embolic source in the right parts of the heart. The review examines the current state of the problem of right-side ie, morphology and clinical evidence, main ct signs and differential diagnostics of spe, including the context of the covid-19 pandemic.
